GTA IV has a better storyline than san andreas because san andreas gets a bit lost in it storyline as you play through the game.

PS The debate continue.

SA's story was the sh*ttiest and most terrible one. Even GTA III standard revenge plot is more interesting.

While SA is awesome game and all, its story is nowhere near good as IV's or VC's/VCS's. Those are the best storylines imo. smile.gif

SA is only good for it's features and huge map, not story.

This isn't even a competition, as I've said a billion times before it doesn't matter how you put it San Andreas' storyline was a joke. There's no feasible way that a ghetto thug from the hood could invade a military base looking for green alien goo, but yet he's some how unable to save his brother and get him out of police custody.

There's a certain charm to its' story telling certainly, but it seems like the story in San Andreas served the same purpose that the story in the Saint's Row games serves. To transport to you to all the crazy stuff in the game, not giving a crap about what it has to do to get you there, a massive example's the fact that somehow, some way Carl ends up having to brake into a casino for some stupid reason.

How on earth do you get from being a street thug, to having to rob casinos and military bases for random arse items that you'll most likely ever need. Oh and don't even get me started on the god damn Zero missions ... "You should stop Berkly, he's trying to kill me and he sends his thugs to lock me in closets for days on end".

Then why not just go and kill the bastard, not force me to defend you satellite dishes from incoming model biplanes. If there's one thing that I'll give San Andreas it's that it has the funniest missions which isn't a bad thing, but it's undeniable that it sacrifices the story to get there. Oh I know that Grand Theft Auto's not exactly renowned for its' storytelling, but that's not to say that Grand Theft Auto IV and Vice City didn't have damn good storylines, hell Grand Theft Auto IV could've won an award for best story in gaming but story just wasn't Rockstar's direction when they were thinking out San Andreas.

When it comes down to the wire though, San Andreas has got the weakest story out of all the games (well maybe not the GameBoy Advanced game) simply due to the fact that it sacrifices good narrative and proper, compelling, storytelling for the gameplay. I suppose that makes it the game that's got the most classic videogame vibe out of all them.

I love how you say SA. Trolling are you? I think you just wantes to see peoples posts about how sh*ttie it was. Like Claude and Tycek said.

SA had a good story line better than III but not better than VC.

III, had the worst it was pretty much foreshadowing.

To be honest, I don't think any of the games have had a really excellent storyline, aside from IV. They're all nice, but not really amazing.

Even though San Andreas is my favorite GTA, I think Vice City Stories is best in terms of the storyline.

Couldn't have said it better myself. icon14.gif When The Truth came back into the story line in the desert and Carl became a partner in Woozie's casino, it was clear that R* was just looking for some reason for CJ to do what he was doing, even if it was weak.

I like GTA San Andreas but honestly, the storyline was probably one of the worst ones of the whole GTA series. It has absolutely no chance against the stories of GTA Vice City or GTA IV. If I would have to choose which game had the best storyline, then I would say it's GTA IV. Clearly, the storyline played in that game a much bigger role and I like it how Niko has a proper background story, something that lacked seriously in the past sequel. For me, GTA IV did something in story-telling that GTA III did in freedom and that means a lot.

Absolutely not, IV's story was beyond amazing and nowhere near as great as Vice City's

Not even close. I never cared about what happened because the cast was full of stereotypical douchebags. Woozie, The Truth and Toreno saved it from being completely crap and forgettable IMO.

I know every GTA has its stereotypes (including the legendary GTA IV), but with SA it felt like R* threw them all into a blender along with various 1990s pop culture and out came this mess.

I literally had no connection to CJ or anything concerning him.

GTA IV and VC show the way of GTA story telling and a mention to TLAD aswell. Hell even GTA III has a better story.

I thought it was a fun little storyline. Not too serious. Just a silly one. Nowhere as good as say, IV or VC or TLAD though

No it's true, Grand Theft Auto III had a far more interesting and believable story compared the LSD/Magic Mushroom filled thrill ride that San Andreas had.

It's not even close to what VC has done with storyline. I'd say it hasn't got the best or better storyline of all GTAs.

San Andreas has the worst storyline.
Every time I play San Andreas I adore the map, gangs, gym, player customization and hidden interior universe but the Storyline really let the game down. Especially the Badlands missions bored.gif

In my opinion game's story was really good till first stage of LS/early countryside missions or something around that. I liked how C.R.A.S.H kidnap you to countryside that point of the game was certainly very interesting for me. But in some stage in San Fierro it started to be a bit boring, desert missions appeared to be more interesting at first and they really was Toreno made story a bit more interesting, but then Mr Truth came and he wanted Carl to steal the jetpack. confused.gif I mean, it's a game it can't be real but jetpack is a bit too over the top imo. Whole mission was a bit odd, following by Green goo where we used jetpack to obtain that "green goo" thing. 2 absolutely odd missions. Rest of the storyline wasn't bad, I liked comeback to LS, riots and all that stuff. But for someone who isn't interested by gang culture of early 90s SA had very weak story. Whole thing about storyline is a bit subjective, but even the most harcore SA fan must agree that San Andreas had some weak points in storyline and it sure wasn't perfect. Still game is great, I enjoy of it despite a bit weak story. smile.gif

It's a tie between VC and SA, SA is alot more funny and cool, while VC is a little funny and somewhat cool.

VC is more realistic when it comes to story, while SA was almost like a movie, with the explosions, shootouts and car chases.

San Andreas' story does have a kind of wacky charm about it but it's vastly inferior to VC and IV's.
