Had no idea it'd been that long. I assume their work on Tron: Legacy
isn't taken into account here? I must admit that I couldn't really get into that, but seeing as it was a soundtrack I just left it alone and didn't take it as one of their "proper" albums, if you will.
I'm really looking forward to this and it couldn't come at a better time. I adore "Discovery" and is definitely one of my favourite albums of all time. Every track just blends so damn well with the one before and the one coming up. Truly masterful work. But recently, I've found myself becoming distant from them. I've listened to all of their albums, even going so far as to try out "Daft Club", an album compromised of Daft Punk
songs remixed by other artists ("Too Long (Gonzales Remix)" is a must-hear), but I still found myself not getting into it properly. I then got "Alive", the live album, and that got my interest sparked again. Hearing them do what they do best is definitely inspiring and they show that even over multiple albums they have the skill to blend them effortlessly. For example, "Burnin' / Too Long". Burning comes from their 1996 self-titled album whilst "Too Long" comes from their 2001 masterpiece "Discovery", a 5-year gap, yet they combine the two so damn smoothly that a new listener would easily assume they were one and the same.
If that is one of their new songs in the mini-ad, which I think is safe to say it probably is, I'm liking the sound of it. Of course, there's not much to go off, but surely it's good that 15 seconds has peaked my interest.
So yea, to say I'm looking forward to it is perhaps a little wrong; I'm bloody excited. I'm really hoping it's here for summer as I know that their new album, blistering sunshine, and ice cold beverages is a combination God himself thinks as being heavenly.
