And is that a bad thing?

Depends who you ask.

So they're announcing more launch titles at E3 as well? I hope to hear about some more driving and open-world titles.

I just looked at the poll, so far it looks pretty interesting so far as the PS4 is concerned. I wonder what medium games will come in.

Just a thought: EA would not have ditched its online pass scheme if Playstation wasn't also following Microsoft in blocking used games.

Looks like the ps4 has better specs. Noticeable. ( considering digital foundry)

And the eSRAM of the xbox could make the gap smaller but therefore the eSRAM has to be a cache and it unknown but possible that it isnt

It will though; Sony filed a patent for technology that rejects media that isn't purchased newly.

Here's a link if you didn't hear about it.

Thats almost 6Months old and Sony was asked several times. And they said no.

Also they made a patent for advertisments in-game.
And that was said 3 years ago and nothing happened

I don't recall any "proof" that Playstation denied this. As far as I was aware they had made no announcements one way or another regarding used games

Let's wait and see at E3. You do realise that there was an interview with Yoshida and even he confirmed that PS4 allows us to use used games. But i'm not sure about the cost thing. If in fact they do make you pay for it, its very dissapointing. But as long as they don't go far as Microsoft, it won't affect them that much.

But Microsoft isn't "blocing" them either, just making you pay a small fee to play them.

Sony saying "we won't "block" used games", doesn't mean "we won't CHARGE you to play used games".

They are 2 entirely different things, and a good way to spin marketing onto Sony's side if they too were going to charge for used games.

So as the PS4 only needs 1 GB for OS ( X1 needs 3 )

how much RAM would it take to stream your games with the new share feature and is this already involved in the 1 GB?

SOny said they only need 1GB for OS. so that means it has 7GB for games. Thats how it works right?

PS3 has no problem running used games. They said it themselves. End of that discussion.

yea. searched a bit and seems like 1 GB could be more than enough and stream function and stuff fits in the 1GB.

2GB more RAM plus its way faster and has about 180GB/s while DDR3 of X1 only has aout 70GB/s.

I mean thats a huge difference. although MS is using 32M SRAM

The PS4 will devote 7/8 of its RAM to games, while the XBOX One devotes 5/8 of its RAM to games. This personally was a deal breaker along with other things meaning just Sony is getting my money this generation and not Microsoft as well.

well, the X1 has 32MB SRAM. that could close the gap between them but I think Sony still has the clear advantage. just hope we will see the difference even on multiplattform titles this time. Architectue is similar to PC and X1 so there should be no problem to get all out of the hardware this time. CELL messed up the PS3

Just the real gloomy look on some multi-platform games on the PS3 turned my to prefer the 360 for multi-platform games in most cases. The new chip should make it way easier to attract developers to make some games way better on the PS4.

Being much easier to work with than the PS3, the PS4 is going to be much cheaper to develop for, so we are going to have more games, and they are going to be better quality.

A question

Do you guys think Headsets will work on the PS4, I want to buy the Astro A50's, they're $350 in Australia, but if I can only use them for a few months before the PS4 and they don't work, that's going to seem a waste of money, do you think they will work?

I posted it in the xbox thread. Xbox wont support current headsets due new audio in/outputs. They made this to generate more money with gadgets and equippment too.

So probably Sony will do the same. But we would know that already I think

^But Sony headsets are bluetooth, not wired, they don't need ports, they just need a firmware upgrade, so I am just wondering if you think companies are going to do firmware upgrades/Sony does them.

The ball is in their court and they'd have to screw up pretty bad to lose it. Sony would have to be completely nuts to even consider this scheme, they should make the GAME console as GAME central as possible, the opposite of what MS are doing, make sure .
If for some reason Sony are stupid enough to charge fees for pre owned games or necessary online connection, it will be the end of console gaming, sh*t will hit the fan. It might even boost sales for WiiU, but everyone else will turn to PC.

Btw:

Microsoft has the Smart Glass App for Smartphones. I think Sony announced a similar app too. but will it have the same features as smartglass? ( second screen for games like FIFA and so on )

I read Vita everywhere. They better not make this only possible with the Vita... I dont want to miss these features only because I dont have a f*ckin Vita... especially when all of that woudl be possible with an app

PS4 has secondary chips on board to handle video capture, uploads and downloads. It does not need much RAM.
