Not that. I think its nice to see it in the present. However, you need to make the changes realistic. Buildings that were there in the 80's should look the same, but maybe slightly more aged (small texture tweaks). That also means no adding islands or chunks of land. Not trying to be bossy here. Just saying what will make the mod be set in Rockstar's universe, and not your modified universe. Several mods on here are failing at being in Rockstar's universe though they are trying to be in it but are not. Two examples that are getting carried away with changes include:
-GTA SOL
-GTA LCS PC Edition

Not saying they are bad mods, I'm saying they are supposedly in Rockstar's Universe but aren't. SOL is now going to have two versions, one with changes and one with out.

But wasen't the ideal plan of this (Vice City 2) to basically be like what Rockstar did to all the III era cities to the HD universe?
Basically, re-make the entire map, new models, etc, in the same place as Vice City originally was, then when all that's done, completely change the city, change the layout, the island and stuff to a completely new one, like they did Liberty City from GTA3 to IV.

What rockster did to liberty city was rape lol

Oh no, not that type of post.

What a constructive post.

EDIT: You know GTA IV's Liberty was meant to be more like NY, right?

What Rockstar did to new LC is succeed in making it work in present times, and with all of IV's features, map felt a lot bigger than it really was, at least to me.

If there's one thing Rockstar can do right, it's to make places and stories seem believable, all of this works to immerse us, players, into a living breathing world.

Yea, IV's LC is an amazing city. It felt alive. Before that, cities in games were missing something that made them feel city like, with a lot of activity going on. GTA IV definitely raised the bar as to how to make a city feel.

As for you guys making a new VC in the IV era, don't. Eventually Rockstar is going to do that already. I think the next GTA is going to be Vice City in the IV era for next gen consoles. You guys should just do the III era VC in modern times.

There will be, the team is just focussed on the map right now

Nk, This is VC in modern time. VC does have Miami written all over it, but geographically it's way off.
If GTA Next would be Vice city again, it will be a good representation of the actual city. Just compare SA LS and V LS.

This seems interesting...I would be surprised (and amazed) if this team were able to make a re-imagined Vice City that was HD, has fully-functional traffic and A.I, had a whole different layout, a story with new missions, and didn't turn out to be a "pseudo-city"--like, when a map mod simply takes existing elements from the game's original map (be it buildings, roads etc.) and just re-arranges them, without replacing the models, or even their textures. confused.gif Basically, that's the reason why "city mods" fail--nobody wants to see a "city" with the same buildings they've seen a BILLION times with roads that appear to be laid out in a grid-like style, but it's creator says "Well, here's Whatever City, it's my own new city". Making mods this big takes years; don't be surprised or amazed if a city mod has just been made within 10 minutes...

But, this mod looks promising, like the detail so far, and good luck to you guys with your progress...let's hope this doesn't die like the VCHD one did. wink.gif icon14.gif

@Blaster_nl: Are you still working on an HD Ocean Drive? I remember you said you were even gonna replace the duplicate models with new original ones. I quite enjoyed those screens you posted back then.

Oh, yes! Still working on it from time to time. Ocean Drive is getting an overhaul, duplicate buildings are removed and replaced by new ones.

Soon I will update my album on VK with new buildings out of 3ds max. Ingame screenshots will come later when most of the buildings are done and the props in place.

What I'd like to see is the map be expanded on. I want something new to the map not seen in the original. New locations at the very least. The following map I found always peaked my interest: http://samgreenart.d...y-Map-154315509. I'd at the very least like to see something similar. Maybe some type of everglades area up north and a new island in the middle. I'm not saying to make that exact map, but I at least want to see new areas that weren't featured in the original Vice City. I'd also like to see an Internet Cafe, a bar, and lots of stuff that was featured in GTA IV.

I liked that map very much. Until I actually looked in google maps what the shape of Miami is like, and you realize that map is way off.

Even VC's layout makes more sense then that map! The problem with VC's layout is that the 'Mainland' (the left island) is just as big as the beach area(right island), while in real Miami, the mainland is much much bigger, and it's not an island. So if you were to use that map, you should combine the 2 left islands into one, then it would be a lot better.

If I understood correctly, they will axpand Vice City one's they HD'd the original map. Bad choice imo, but it ain't my call.

Also, Ocean Drive screens are coming this month! biggrin.gif

It could look impressive but I highly doubt this mod will get finished. The screenshots only show (a part) of Ocean Drive.
Conclusion : I'm not amazed at all because I'm tired of seeing awesome screenshots and then see the mod cancelled 2-3 months after. By the way, the (selfish) authors doesn't even share what they have done.

Map will be at the same outline as Vice City or renewed like in Los Santos from V? (I'm highly recommend that second option give a fresh look into VC).

Russians are remaking original VC map, then when that's done, they expand it.
Personally, on Ocean Drive I added new buildings. For one, R* duplicated a lot of buildings, secondly they are almost all too wide (or generally out of scale) so it adds space to add more buildings.

The only thing that bugs me is that R* made Ocean Drive curved, all the roads are in an angle. While in real life, it's straight, no curves. It's quite annoying because the buildings don't line up nicely then.

I would agree it's a lot better to recreate Miami and not VC, but they are a small team and it's not very feasible to do soemthing like that, unpaid.

At least you're saying my screenshots are awesome, that's a start. Andrey started developing the docks area 1.5 years ago and they are still going on with a slightly bigger team. It's highly unlikely it will get cancelled in 2-3 months when they are already going for over a year.
