Game Informer have just posted details about their upcoming cover for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. And from the preview details they’ve released, it seems to be a very ambitious sequel.

Thanks to CD Projekt RED’s new REDengine 3 technology, The Witcher 3 will be a massive open-world RPG that’s 30 times bigger than the previous game – a world size claimed to be bigger than Skyrim. Filling that world will be the detective work and deadly combat of “monster hunting” and the series’ now standard twisting stories of intrigue and politics.

My computer can't handle witcher 2 (it flashes and the screene goes pink and blue and green) so I probably have to get a new computer before I get witcher 3.

I am so hyped. Can't wait for more news. I read about some of the things that are going to be in the game and it sounds fantastic. Rumor has it that the world is approximately 20% bigger than Skyrim.

I never played the first 2, but I only hear good things about them.
Anyone care to fill me on on this greatness I'm missing?

Witcher 1 is actually kind of forgettable. but Witcher 2 was incredible. one of my favorite RPG's of all time.

Wjhy does everything have to be open-world?

Witcher 1 & 2 were great cause they followed a storyline. No need to clone every other game for sales.

I'm wondering what makes The Witcher stand out from other games and why the internet loves it so much. Also I wanted to hear it from you guys because most of you are pretty reliable with praising/criticizing games.

And I'm poor so I have to make sure a game is worth getting before I buy it.

Never played any of the Witcher games, though I like sanboxes (Skyrim FTW), so I might try this one out. Seems good so far wink.gif

Xbox 360 version. PC version was released in 2011. And this one will probably be released in 2014.

Great news. I kinda consider myself a fan of The Witcher series and CD Projekt even though I'm a PS3 owner and I obviously haven't played the games, I wish I could, though.

Witcher is a mainly PC based franchise they have released a 360 version of witcher 2 though last year but that is simply nothing compared to the PC version.

These are all rendered using REDEngine2. It will look a lot better on REDEngine3.

I've always wanted to get into The Witcher series, mainly because of all the sex scenes I've seen online, but never got a chance to pick up the game. How is the combat? Is it turned-based or what?

Holy sh*t! I played The Witcher 2 and loved it so much. As a matter of fact, I loved this game so much that I went back and played the first game! What I love about the developers is that they created the second game so as NOT spoil 99% of the first game.

I had a blast playing both games and I just completed my second play through of The Witcher 2.

Both games are truly world class and I suggest all of you to play them.

This third one seems to be extremely ambitious and can easily go down as one of the greatest RPGs of all time, just like the 2nd game!

So f*cking hyped.

My god, this is the game I've been waiting my entire life for. Now, I can only hope that CD Projekt Red can deliver with all the hype that they've built up. Speaking of hype, was the release date really hidden in that Cyberpunk 2077 trailer ?.

Indeed, I've got to say these screenshots have gotten me more excited then any game trailer has in a long, long while.

Mixed thoughts, cautiously optimistic.

Love the first one, even if it's far from perfect. TW2 is great too despite rating it a bit lower overall due to length, consolisation, QTEs, retcons, etc. Part of me cynically expects this'll be worse.. However, I mostly very much enjoyed TW2's writing and gameplay, and obviously the previous length gripe should now be blown out of the water. Given they're doing full multi-platform development this time, having the "lowest common denominator" much closer to current PC tech should be a great boon.

So what level of intelligent, consistent richness can they translate into a relatively huge world? Really gotta step their game up, otherwise fear the writing/design could be so thinly stretched that it becomes a shallow and broken mess. Hope they work hard to expand those easily translatable basic witchering elements and also be very clever with the framing design for variety, still achieve a strong main storyline, a decent amount of proper side-quests, and mod tools (not for mostly fixing up the game like Bethesda rely on, rather working with already great content)...then I certainly wouldn't regret a pre-order.

Anyway, fingers-crossed they take their sweet time and make it really special smile.gif
