I'm bored confused.gif I got the game in July 2011, just a few days after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II came out. I'm kinda new to the GTA games. I was more into the action shoot em up kinda games like Halo and Call of Duty (I still am) but then I heard about GTA games and I thought the concept of a huge world to explore going wherever you want whenever you want (most of the time) and raising hell sounded epic. So when did you first get your hands on Grand Theft Auto IV?

I first played it not long after it came out, on PS3. Then bought it on PC late last year, and also have it on PS3 from a friend last year too haha. Now can't wait for GTA V!!!

I got it quote late as well, probably around August of 2011 (I know right, SO 2 years ago!)

I've been playing GTA since 2004 though, I just wasn't in too much of a rush to get IV, if already watched the entire storyline in youtube anyway and was fine with playing III, Vice City and San Andreas. And I still do to this day. smile.gif

TBH, I STILL don't OWN the damn game, as I'm just borrowing my brothers copy for now, until I can pick it up myself. (I can get it across town for 10 bucks so it's just a matter of getting a drive.)

BUT, I just started playing it about a week and a half ago, and I'm hooked! I wake up around 6 am everyday to play before my GF gets up around 11 or noon, lol. I was lucky to get Liberty City Stories for 10$ next door 2 days ago, so I have those waiting in the wings for when I finish the original.

The whole reason I've been holding off on playing this game is I did NOT want to play it until I could play it in HD! So when I (FINALLY) got myself a 32" Phillips LCD, I just HAD to get myself a PS3 for some quality GTAIV! So I traded my Samsung Galaxy Tab for a PS3, and borrowed my bro's GTA4, and have been playing ever since. Now, yesterday, I traded in my 32" TV for a 43" Samsung LED!!! YEEE-f*ckin-HAW! Its some sweet f*cking gaming! And I can not WAIT for GTAV, as my favorite game of all time was San Andreas! I'm not to concerned about all the GTAV delays, because I'm just now playing through 4 and the extra stories, so I can wait for it. PLUS, the delays usually mean they're tweaking the game as much as possible and it'll surely be worth the wait! I'd rather that then a half ass GTA release full of bugs and glitches for damn sure.

BTW, I'm what I consider an "Old school" gamer. I'm 40 years old, and have been gaming since I was 5 or 6 with my Coleco Vision and Atari consoles. I only just put gaming on the back burner about 5 years ago when my life was somewhat in shambles, so I'm just now getting into it again, and I have to say, it's about f*ckING TIME! I'm pretty happy to be back! (Can't say my GF is too pleased though lol...oh well. At least I'm not doin drugs anymore I tell her haha)

Peace out!
Drey

I got GTA IV 4-5 days after the release date or something like that. I had pre-ordered the game one month before that but apparently there were so many pre-orders that I had to wait to get the game for some extra days. I was a little bit angry because of that but in the end I didn't have to wait so long. GTA IV was the third PS3 game I bought if I remember correcly. Today I own 50 PS3 games.

I bought it on release day on PS3. Traded that copy in a couple of years later. Bought a pre-owned copy on 360 in 2010. Bought the Complete Edition on PS3 last year.

Autumn/Winter of 2010. Don't remember the exact day.

Would have gotten it on release but I was new to the series and the only GTA I played was LCS :p

I bought it on release day on PS3. Traded that copy in a couple of years later. Bought a pre-owned copy on 360 in 2010. Bought the Complete Edition on PS3 last year.

What the f*ck is wrong with you, why would you trade a launch day copy, especially because it's GTA IV?!?!?!
Anyway;
Bought the Pirate version of both IV and EfLC (actually stole from my friend lol) because I didn't know to use Torrents in June 2010
Bought the legit if Vanilla GTA IV version for PC in December 2012
Bought the legit of EfLC for PC couple of days after
Bought the complete edition for PS3 in September 2013

I bought the PS3 version mainly because I barely ran GTA IV on PC back in the day, now considering I got a new PC I rarely play the PS3 version, but I still do. :)
Another reason I got GTA IV on PS3 was because I was gonna get GTA V and I wasn't so used to controllers, so I got GTA IV to get used to it.

Might get the 360 one day to buy Complete Edition of GTA IV for 360.

downloaded a cracked PC version in the first week after release

I remember how the ones who bought the game had more trouble with the game than those who had the cracked version xD

Then a friend of mine gave me an original copy for the PC

About one year ago, I bought the complete edition disc for the PS3. I really liked the game, so I felt like I had to have a bought version. Since I do not have a good PC, I at least wanted some better graphics for the bucks.... Was definitely worth it ;)

I don't know, but it's a decision I still regret. In saying that I still have the artbook and steel box that came with the special edition as that's what I got at launch.

About a week ago.... no joke. Reason? Because I didn't even own a 360/PS3 until Sept. 2013 when I bought one just for GTA V. After getting very bored with that game, I finally ordered IV: The Complete Edition (Meaning I got IV & EFLC in one purchase) for just $12.73 with tax and shipping. In a way, I regret waiting so long, but I don't regret saving a lot of money on the game. Well worth what I paid for it.  ;)

P.S.- I have the 360 edition, I don't own a PS3.

Better late than never my friend. Especially when it comes to IV.

Absolutely, and at this point, I consider it even better than V!

July 2010 for Xbox 360, I still remember that, it was Friday, but I already had EFLC just a few months before.

My box is grey because it's Platinum Hits/Best Seller or something like that. One of my favorite games ever, I love it.

I bought GTA IV around December 2009. I would have bought it earlier, but I only got my PS3 a few months prior to my purchase.

Release day for 360
Again for EFLC in 2011 because my friend lost my GTA copy when he borrowed it...

AGAIN, the EFLC edition in 2012 when my brother scratched it...
And once more for PC during January 2014...

I don't mind throwing money at Rockstar for GTA IV, though. This game was well worth the combined $127.46 I paid for it.

Lucky bastard, I had a chance to get it for 4000 Serbian dinars (~$50 AUD) but I didn't get it, because even though most of the things were unopen it didn't have the GTA IV Soundtrack and the R* Keychain. I can't say I regret it because I would regret buying something that's not complete. But god damn full ones are expensive, I still can't find one that's below 100€ on eBay.
The Special edition of GTA IV has way cooler sh*t than Collector's Edition of GTA V. I wish I could go back in time.
