I finally finished watching the whole series for the second time. Note; last time I watched the final season, was when the final season was airing 'live', so to speak. Spoilers below..
Now, after refreshing my memory of everything, I still stand firm as this is one of my favorite TV shows I've ever been graced to watch. Most shows don't divulge into characters like this show did, and it did it brilliantly. You get attached, you grow hatred for certain characters, then you build sympathy for them, and eventually like them (Charlie and Benjamin Linus are notable characters on that point). I know someone posted that you wouldn't really grasp the concept of this show if you didn't know literature and classic novels (or something similar to that), and not to mention; religion. It all mixes so well into a drama/sci-fi/thriller slash even comedy TV show.
The ending was perfect. I think people who thought of it negatively just over-reacted. I really don't need any more answers, as Jacks father pretty much summed it up. I honestly thought the flash-forwards was another dimension, but it seemed like it was Jacks purgatory. Jack is, after all, the main character of LOST. And the sad thing is about that, is whenever I tell people about this show they instantly think that the whole show takes place in some type of purgatory due to them reading sh*tty reviews or listening to someone who doesn't know what the hell they're talking about. They are not dead the whole f*cking show, in-fact, they're not even dead in Jacks purgatory as Christain said "some died before you, some died way after you" (that may not be the exact quote, but thats what he pretty much said).
Now, the thing that kinda throws a loop in the whole "Jacks Purgatory" theory is that Desmond knows whats happening during 'Present Time' and during the 'Flash-Forwards'. I can only think that Desmond has near-death experiences, and is able to see into that purgatory some how... after all, he is a very special person. Not to mention, every time he seemed to be able to look into the other dimension, or whatever you want to call it, he wakes up in present time which leads me to believe he almost dies. One time he was walking with the group, it flashes towards the dimension and when it goes back he is laying down and wakes up in the middle of the jungle while the people with him try to figure out what the hell happened to him. As far as Desmond being able to look into the future and seeing someones death, well, I just don't know.
There is no question that this show still has questions. My two being what was Walt, and it'd be nice to know how Hugo and Benjamin ran the island, as Hugo said to Ben "you were a good number two" and Ben replying "you were a good number one". So things must've ran at least someone smoothly.
I also think Jacob was playing a game the whole time when selecting candidates. When his brother found the backgammon game, Jacob made a move, and his brother told him that's not how you play. Jacob wanted to know why he got to make the rules, and his brother told him once you find a game you can "make up the rules".
Really wish they made a movie after the events of Jacks death but we live with what we got.
