It's difficult to accurately compare between consoles and PCs, mainly due to the diffierent architechures the consoles are using. On the Xbox 360 you have an AMD Tri-Core PowerPC CPU, which you can say is an equivalent of an AMD Athlon X3. The GPU is almost the equivalent of an ATI (or AMD nowadays) 1800XT or an HD 2600, and the RAM is a unified memory architechure of 512MB GDDR3 at 700MHz.

As for the PS3, the CPU is a 3.2GHz Cell processor that doesn't really have a counterpart, since it consists of a completely different architechture [of PPE and SPEs]. As for the GPU, it's a nVidia RSX, equal to the 7800GTX. The RAM is a 256MB XDR DRAM, probably equal to a 1GB DDR2 SDRAM at least.

If you want a PC within the range of those consoles' specifications and price, then I guess a Phenom II X4/HD 6670/4GB RAM build should be more than enough. smile.gif

How do consoles have that kind of performance with so little RAM and GPU equivalent to ATI HD 2600

Optimization.

Most PC games today are console ports and the people doing the port don't give two sh*ts about optimization for PC.

True, consoles were made only for gaming purposes - their hardware was optimized for gaming.

Why would you want to do that OP?
Why not just get a PS3 or 360?

No, I was just wondering what pc would be equivalent to consoles. On the other hand I suck at playing on consoles because I got used to aiming with the mouse

Ah ok, it's the opposite for me, I suck at playing PC games now because I am so use to using a controller. alien.gif
