Basically it means that if you in RL put mirror next to light source, you will see that light bounce off mirror or any object to other objects.
This tech in game is hard to do because it includes a lot of calculation, in real-time. Thus screenshots doesn't prove anything. And I didn't see it in trailer.

As real-time global illumination isn't possible on a current generation of consoles

BF3 had it, YES IT WAS ON CONSOLES TOO.

Max Payne 3 showed us that RAGE was just not only physically defining but Ambient Occlusion proved that it can Also keep up Graphically with today's refined Engines.

I am calling this plausible.

It very well could be in the game. When you look at GTA IV and GTA V you can see the difference in lighting.

I will add it to the GTAV Mythbusters thread.

Assuming that your provided image was taken from this screenshot:

http://media.gtanet....chman_hotel.jpg

That proves absolutely nothing considering nothing has been said about whether or not the officially released screenshots are from real-time footage and even if they are, there is no reference to what platform was used to capture them.

Though I would not rule out the use of baked light maps.

The first part is indeed true, Light does bounce off of an object (That is the main point of GI/ Radiosity) , The second part is why i made this thread and now im explaining that it does has it in V.

But I don't see any bouncing in that screenshot or trailer. All I see is sun reflection which is NOT THE SAME.

This thread is actually turning to a discussing thread, r34ld34l is right, It may only be Ambient Occlusion (Just a shade or fake lighting) Or it MAY be real time.

What I want to know is, even if Rockstar were able to pull off Real-time Global Illumination on an open world map, not using baked light maps, but actual, real-time GI.

How is looking at a shadow on a screen shot concrete proof that they have done? At most you could say "I think they might have" because for all you know they could have used any number of techniques to simulate Global Illumination.

This is how it is in Red Dead and this is how it is in GTAV.

Still not sure why you are saying real-time caustics is confirmed.

EDIT: I see you edited your first post now to say "NOT CONFIRMED but POSSIBLE". If you're going to manipulate your posts like that then I'm not going to engage in discussion like that...
