What you call "ghetto" in LA are paradise compared to places like Washington DC, New Orleans and Detroit.  confused.gif

Man gtfo with that sh*t.. you sound so stupid.

Its true. Detroit especially makes LA look like paradise.

Not to be cruel, but IMO LA is overrated when it comes to crime/violence.

Bro stop... I been to Detroit a lot... my Grandma lives there right in the hood.. I seen my cousin pull an AK on a guy over basketball.. but I also live in LA and it's really the same exact thing so don't downplay LA hoods over East coast hoods.

I know people who live in Detroit too and try say it's hell...Not only is the crime bad, but the economy is terrible and also their corrupt ass mayor isn't doing anything. Detroit had been murder capitol more than LA. Many people in Detroit are trying to leave.

I'll in Compton LA any day over Detriot. I'm not even making this up. LA is highly overrated..Not trying to offend anybody. And Detroit is Midwest.

And at least in LA people are not homeless and losing their homes occasionally.

Alright.

Trust me bro Detroit is like a 3rd world country compared to LA. Nearly all of Detriot is the 'hood'.

Dice games/Ho's? Do you mean this to be a combined hybrid?

How mad will you be if there's no one yelling "five-OH!" which sounds about 1998ish. I never hear anyone say that, not in the past many years.

(and I listen a lot!)

Watch The Wire, lol

EDIT: Just read the post a few above about NYC. That place is virtually DisneyTown now. When I went there in 1992 the place had an edge to it but now its a tourists paradise, which is no bad thing but it has lost character. Watch some of the old movies from the late 70s, Basketcase, Death wish, MS45..... its a completly different city.
Right now i'm midway through watching the TV show Starsky & Hutch, just to get a feel of how life was back in the late 70s inLA.

When you meant NYC is Disney Town, you were obviously speaking about only Manhattan, especially south of Harlem, which is what comes to mind when non-native New Yorkers think of NYC.

Try going to very rough housing projects in NYC hoods within Brooklyn (Bed-Stuy, Brownsville and Flastbush) or Queens (Jamaica, Queensbridge) and act like it's Disney town with no ghetto pass, or try going to these places dressed with expensive jewelry or looking like you got a lot of cash on you. Go on I dare you. Don't be too surprised if you come out of there not looking too good, if you get robbed with a gun in your face, or if you even come out of there alive at all. You talk like you really know whats up, but I know you'd never set foot in those areas in real-life with such brimming confidence.

Did you not even view the video clips ?? NYC being one of the safest cities in the USA does not necessarily mean it's generally a safe place, you need to understand that.

Yes, I do mean Manhattan, but my point still stands. Back in the late 70s early 80s it was terrible, crime infested city. Even in 1992 it still had an edge to it but I would return every two years and pratically watched it transform.
Even the locals, in my age bracket, state the same visual comparison. Saw a DVD doc about Graffiti called ..I think.. Pumped, and the same comparissons were made. Every City has its bad areas, but for my money, one place i'd steer clear of is Glasgow, Scotland. WOULD NOT move there for love nor money!

So, anyone got any recommendations for documentarys about LA lifestyle?

Cheers for that, i'll hunt it down.
And for anyone else interested Ross Kemp did a series on Gangs and did of course cover LA, calling it the gang central of the world.

Yeah, the OP is right. I live in Southern California's Mojave Desert (Hesperia/Victorville area) and we have a ton of car jacking's, robberies, assaults, drug dealing, prostitution everyday. Shootings and muggings happen every so often. And this is in the desert, not South Central, our city/towns are much smaller in the desert. These people who are doing it however are not people who've lived in the desert all their life, like me.... no, these people are people who come from the ghetto's of South Central because it's cheaper to live here thanks to the housing bubble... and also thanks to our Governor moving all the prisoners from LA's prison, to the prison over here where I live, so when they are released, they are released to my streets and are pretty much destroying our community. Anyway, that kind of stuff that the OP was describing is actually pretty relevant to our society over here in Cali. There are still gangbangers who act like that, unfortunately.

Please explain your meaning of the word Ghetto .
Maybe, if you're not American/Western, you might associate that word with different things.

Trust me: America is FILLED with ghettos.
LA is not has bad as it used to be (still bad tho...but not 80s-90s bad).

I have family in Ann Arbor, MI. I was driven by them through metro Detroit and, well, that was something...

I'd really really love for them to really get the feeling of the Gateway Cities. Those areas are truly "ghetto", some areas more than others. A lot of Crip, Blood, and independent gangs, a lot of industrial areas (Vernon, West Compton), strip malls and fast food joints (like the rest of SoCal), and a lot of rundown suburbs. It's something they partially got in GTA SA, but I think they need to step up their game.

R* said there will be in game scores(soundtracks) on missions.
This is what I'm hearing in my head. lol

This is nothing new, I've been in this position before.
Grandma crib, niggas outside of her door.
Different day, same sh*t, old mac, new clip.
32 hollow tips, gloves, no rubber grip.
I'm a boss, but niggas never show no respect.
I catch em slipping, I'll have em tounge kissing my tech.
Wanna come test me, pussy-boy don't try it.
Police response never fast enough when shots fired.
Don't be stupid, find out who you f*cking with son.
Before we find out where yo bitch get her hair and nails done.

p.s. I'm from the Midwest, and I think were the most violent region right now. Chicago, Detroit, Cleavland, Indianapolis, St. Louis, etc...

If R truly wants to create a crime gang than the next GTA should be in Chicago aka the gangster city. Chicago has a lot of gangs from street gangs to organized crime group.

Anybody who is a fan of either street gangs or Italian mafia should hope the next game is in Chicago, because Chicago has all of that...Also like someone mention, the Midwest is the most dangerous region in the US right now.

Detriot:
1.Bad economy
2.Murder capitol
3.Half population unemployed
4.Corrupt Mayor
5.Half population homeless
6.High crime rate
7.Barley any business investments
8.Half the neighborhoods are abandoned
9.Hardly any jobs left
10. Corrupt law enforcement

Yeah Detroit makes LA look like paradise. That's a FACT. I know it may hurt your feelings that there are cities worse than LA.

Anyways when do you see people in LA living like this?

LA does NOT come close to Detriot. HA!
