Do you really need more than that though? Liberty City was enormous. That's plenty of city-scape for one game, leaving for a more varied countryside, where a large expanse would actually be beneficial.

Liberty City was pretty big, in my opinion.

think about the size of liberty city, the 3 islands, the size of them all combined is just Los Santos, and then the surrounding areas

the game is freaking huge, no one needs to worry now

It's more than enough for me. I plan to spend most of my time in the countryside anyway.

For just the city that's fantastic. Don't forget the town's and landscapes surrounding the area. Liberty City was huge for a standalone city and had great detail

When you think about it, Los Santos as those 3 islands of IV smacked together... it's massive! Then also the whole RDR and SA map as countryside With Room To Spare!

Hmmm with probably at least three times more enterable buildings, more things to do, more cars, animals, better draw distance, yoga........no problem! icon14.gif

Liberty City was huge but it would make sence if Los Santos was bigger. Liberty City is a vertical city whereas Los Santos is more of a horizontal city.

No man, the city itself is as big as all of Liberty and it's surrounded by countryside that's 2 times bigger than that.

I realized this to and I'm not complaining and neither should you b.c. Ign contradicted themselves. You say it's same size and LC but than say you only seen 1% of the game so far if that. Lol Rockstar didn't show them all of LS so we just have to wait till we play them game. Also what will make LS bigger than LC or atleast feel bigger is more roads and street. Makes things more dense and more detail and feels a lot longer to get to point A to point B. If u look at pics of gta v and then gta iv there's so many space in between building in LC but I see hardly nothing of such in LS.

Thats just the city of LS not including all the outskirts and country side etc, I doubt R* would let us down like that after building us all up with comments like bigger than RDR and gtaIV combined

Also further on in that article it says we have only seen 1%

Seriously, Alderney is considered as being part of the Liberty City metropolitan area so I think you should count that into it.

Means Los Santos (downtown only) will be the size of the whole GTA IV MAP. Surrounding area's not included.
So it's freaking huge, why are you complaining?

Maybe you should read the entire quote:

QUOTE
the city of Los Santos alone is comparable in size to the whole of Liberty City, and that doesn't take into account the surrounding areas -- but itís diverse, too.

Only the city is comparable to Liberty City. What they're effectively saying is that we're getting the IV map with all the hustle and bustle of urban and suburban areas, PLUS RDR and SA as countryside, desert, mountains etc. That is big!

The city is small IMO, I thought the city would be three times bigger than Liberty City, Liberty City felt a little bit small. They said Grand Theft Auto IV, San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption combined means that Grand Theft Auto IV already dropped off the list, San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption are left, means that the rest is gonna be countryside and mountains. I was hyped about GTA V but not anymore, feel kind disappointed sad.gif

More like GI failed. They clearly meant the entire map, not just the city of LS (the focal point of the map). V's land area was later confirmed to be 3.5 times the size of RDR, and 5x RDR if you include the detailed marine environments along the coast. Personally, an LC-sized LS is exactly what I was hoping for.
