I need your help. Please check out my new song 'FINGERTIPS' at the below link. I'm currently at #52 on genre charts at Triple J Unearthed - just need those extra few clicks to bring me to at least #25 and I'll be visible on the charts for all to see! Which means more audience and possibility of radio airplay!
For school, we eventually need to make our own videoclip for a song that already exists, but you can also do one for your own song, if you have one.
I with my band had the idea to make one for a song we made, but we have to record everything by ourselves. The idea was that we'd record it over at my place, seeing that I have a drumkit and piano, and the guitarist will bring it's own mic and amplifier which can be connected to PC. I have a mic for the piano (put it on its speaker) and I was thinking about using the other 2 for my drumkit (probably awful quality, but well ...). Besides that, if I can find one more mic I have everything I need, because I need one for the singer.
Is there any way I could do this at home with 4 mics (1 for the singer, 1 for piano and 2 for the drumkit) and the amplifier connected to the PC? And what kind of software could I use for that? I have Sony Vegas Pro haha
@Moonshield I think I've heard your band's music before. That song is awesome. I subscribed to your channel.
@Piperka Both songs are kind of cheesy but the concept and melodies are really good. Synths are pretty good overall but the drums sound like stock FL Studio samples. I sometimes use the samples provided by FL, but I combine them with other samples (most of the times I use two snares, or a snare and clap) and I mess with the sample parameters to make some more unique sounding drums.
@Morano Not sure if you made that instrumental on that song on your channel. It sounds really good. The rapping is pretty good but your accent sounds odd and that doesn't help.
@gta_aus I listened to that song on your SoundCloud page. It sounds pretty good and I heard some nice sounds in there, but the song seems a little disorganized. The structure doesn't seem right.
@Ats. I'm bookmarking your Bandcamp page for future reference. I like the songs on your EP. I heard some nice sounds there that really made me like it. Mixing\mastering seems pretty decent as well.
I started making another song yesterday. It's very short and still work in progress due to lack of resources (crappy PC). Maybe I'll get to finish some songs sometime in the near future. Anyway, here it is: https://soundcloud.c...tional-love-wip
@Piperka: I've never really been much of a fan of the autotune sound. However, Future sounds really great, really well done, love the multiple sounds you've thrown in there, sounds really cool! Maybe touch up the transitions/drops, could be more powerful. @Ats.: A New World: The 'orchestra' at the beginning was rather promising, but the beat kinda ruined it for me. I think the samples are at fault, maybe I was expecting something else, but, hey, that's just my opinion. The Killing Device: Sounds interesting, but I'd do more with the composition with it. I mean, I don't think I've heard a guitar riff like that, it just sounds a bit too strange. Know what I mean? ☮ / Peace: I think the drums were a bit too loud in the beginning, kinda distracted from the melody. But the drop sounds really nice. The changing drums sound a bit... I don't know. But overall, nicely done! Crosses: Guitar sounds nice, did you record it yourself or is it a loop you found somewhere? The song itself is somewhat repetitive, but it's not bad! Mainframe: While the beat and melody is good, it just happens too much. There's not a whole lot going on. I know I make this mistake myself often, but hearing the same 3 chords over and over again gets old in those 3 minutes and 37 seconds. More variety, not just to the melody. Warp Drive: If I had to pick favourites, it might just be this. Really like what you've done here! Black Clouds: The second synth that comes in reminded me of NFS3. Not a bad thing at all. The beat is definitely interesting, sounds really good. Overall, good job on the mastering (better than what I can do, that's for sure), sounds/synths are well done (do you make them yourself (like, say, presets in Toxic Biohazard or whatever you work with) or are those 'factory' synths?), melodies themselves are good, too, however, could use a little more variety. Other than that, great job! @_____: It's quite minimal and simple, but I love the sound it has. Keep at it!
I found this on my soundcloud. Was supposed to be a song for a game from a fellow forumer, but I guess it didn't happen: https://soundcloud.c.../1-done/s-NkqZg And here's my newest piece. Now with added YouTubes.
Thanks for the thorough review Ed! As for the synths, I make some myself, but I also use a lot of presets and tinker with them. I mostly use Sylenth1 and Massive. And yeah, my stuff is really repetitive, I really have to focus on variety in the future. Also, I recorded the guitar on 'Crosses' myself, and yes, it's also a very repetitive track.
Had a listen of your latest track and I have to say that it's really good. Loving the sound of it, great synths and everything. Since I suck at commenting then I'm gonna leave it at that.
I'm currently in the process of producing a mixtape & I decided to temporarily upload some of the beats to SoundCloud so I could get a little constructive criticism. So I'll include the link at the end of this post. You can listen if you're interested and I'd appreciate it if you could tell me if you liked them or not, and also tell me how the quality sounds because they sound good through my speakers but I don't know how my mixing is yet so it might not sound as good on other speakers.
