Looks good, but I still think it will be steaming pile of glitch ridden gameplay with something that could be really good just like Arma 2.

Yup apparently from 1pm GMT you could buy it from Steam - with the basic being about 20. Its in the Alpha stage though, so I think that's why its cheap for the basic. There's about 2 other versions I think with extra shizz. I'm presuming the basic game price will go up though once its ''officially'' released. I might take a look at it - I won't buy it though but its nice to know my PC will be able to run it on High settings.

Picked up the alpha off steam. The other edition just has some maps soundtrack and a free copy of arma. I choose the 20 quid version haven't played it yet the diving sounds pretty interestin.

Downloading it the now. From what Ive seen from streamers, the game is currently struggling to give a good FPS even on high end rigs.

Pretty pathetic that the game is a PC exclusive and they can't even be bothered to code it properly for the sole platform it is releasing on.

Bought Arma III.

From what I've noticed, the game seems to be performing pretty similar to ArmA II although the options seem better. The gun movement is much more nicer now and I feel more connected to the character than I originally did. The only problem I have is that when I go into high vegetation, my frames begin to drop to about 35-40 instead of 50-60. I play on the High Preset. 1920x1080

Been playing for a few hours now. Not as bad as I had feared!

Me and two other guys own a dedi box based in the UK. We are sticking wasteland on it the now.

The Wasteland mod is a lot of fun, especially as an independent. It's like DayZ without zombies, persistence and food.

That's because arma is design for military simulator .

Thats why the infantry control along with vehicle control is so freaking hard.

quoted for truth.

I've been playing these games since the days of Operation Flashpoint.
some people get really frustrated with them because they expect every FPS to be like Call of Duty. but if it were up to me, every FPS would be like ArmA sly.gif I really enjoy the level of realism and attention to detail.

Doesn't matter, the DayZ standalone is going to be out by April, at least. cool.gif

true but i think the standalone (which i also plan to purchase tounge.gif ) will be 99% the same as the mod for arma 3 tounge.gif most of the new features they announced for standalone are already here in arma 3, and also one advantage arma3 version od dayz will have (if you can call it advantage, but its more the thing that stands out) is the island setting whilst the standalone will keep chernarus. But even dough dayz first got me into arma 2 since than i played a sh*tton of it and mostly got arma 3 for the realistic military simulation smile.gif

I really hope that there wont be any DayZ-alike mods for ARMA III. Even though DayZ boosted ARMA II sales, it partly ruined the community. DayZ took over arma 2 and brought cheaters, hackers, and casual gamers that seems to have no intention to play the vanilla game. Its great the DayZ will go standalone.

I only just got enough power to play ArmA 2, I tried the free trial and just couldn't learn all the controls, I like that it has a lot of features and abilities, but it is just too much for me to learn, I just don't have the time or patience anymore like I used to with PC games in 2005.

This one looks great and I have always loved the series of OFP and ArmA, it is just a shame there isnt just a simplified control scheme that could also be used with a controller, then use the keyboard for any other optional controls.

It gets to a point where I may as well learn all the controls on a real helicopter than learn how to play the game itself.
