are those specs minimum or recommended? if its recommended then it isnt really a big shock.. many of the upcoming games demand at least a gtx 460 or 560

I am not sure It just says "ArmA 3 System Requirements"

Game Debate however put forward their predicted system requirements we do not know which his true smile.gif

But Wikipedia and other sites put forward the high system requirements

I bought a new computer for ARMA II and ARMA III this summer. I will probably be able to play arma III on at least medium settings. However systemrequirements is not completely decided yet. BIS will try to give more options fow low-end users to config graphic settings. I am really looking forward to arma III. By far the most realistic and tactical shooter out there despite it's flaws such as high system requirements. As a matter of fact, its the only game of its kind. There is no other combat simulations out there. I just hope that they wont make the game more accessible for new players - in any sense.

I am glad that DayZ goes standalone though. I really hate to have many of these DayZ jocks imported from CoD in the arma community.
Most of these people just make stupid claims and talk about simplified controls and easier gameplay.

I've been playing Arma II since release. Was wondering why there hasn't been a topic yet. My hype for this game is through the roof, all of the little changes add up to something really special.

Why would they port the mod to Arma 3 when they are making a standalone game?

I don't think there has been any footage of this game since E3. My PC probably can't run anything of higher requirements than GTA SA, but I definitely would like to at least play an ArmA game. I'm about to break a bunch of sh*t with all of these gimmicky and arcadish FPS games dominating the market. There needs to be more military simulators like ArmA, Red Orchestra, and Operation Flashpoint.

Also, I'm glad that DayZ 2 might be a standalone game. I don't think it will be bad by any means, but the presence of zombies brings all of the "CoD kiddies" (just a popular phrase for "a dumb, casual, and overly mainstream audience") to a franchise that they might have never heard of anyways. You don't want those types of gamers to taint BI in the same way that they have done to dozens of other developers.

I couldn't agree more! These type of games require a lot of "on the ground, on the fly" strategy. I wasn't that impressed with the latest Flashpoints but games like ARMA make it worth while. I thoroughly enjoy the action packed sequences of COD but I'm also a realist and any game that can mesh that authenticity with fun is a thumbs up in my book.

If your computer isn't that powerfull you could try try out [i]Operation Flashpoint: Cold war crisis GOTY. It is from 2001, but still the best game in the ArmA series. I played through the whole game back in 2011 and it was amazing especially the story which holds the same class as games likee Mafia 1 and Red Dead. A lot of twists. If you buy GOTY edition there is over 100 story-driven missions. You experience the story from both the US side, resistance force, and Russian. Just remember to update to latest patch.

Btw, here is a trailer for the game (360p though..)

Alright, so Bohemia Interactive have just announced that ArmA 3 will be $33 USD, and this will grant people access to the alpha and beta versions of the game, too. Source + Source image.

Pretty smart move business wise. Gives a chance for the community to grow a bit and for consumers to market the game via word of mouth!

Anyone here going to buy it pre-release?

Is there a release date yet? I've always wanted to get into Arma since it's realistic. So I can buy it on steam March fifth?

Edit: I'm gonna go with the DIGITAL DELUXE EDITION, I'm pumped.

40 Bucks is a bargain for such an awesome and above all realistic game.

Will those 40 bucks also include the final product. Or is that a seperate purchase?

The digital deluxe edition just gives a digital guide, maps and soundtrack plus the first arma.

I"l just go with the alpha edition since its only 24.99 and it seems to include the full game aswell!.

Looks like i'll be doing the same. I'm not interested in Arma 2 or a strategy guide.

"GT 420" There's your problem.
You can probably play it at Everything Low but you really should upgrade to at least a mid end GPU.
