"You’re not just anyone. One day, you’re gonna have to make a choice. You have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be. Whoever that man is, good character or bad, is gonna change the world." -Jonathan Kent

"You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders." -Jor-El

Superman Begins

I hope it goes as good as the Dark Knight Trilogy.

I love the idea of going into the kryptonian's mind to understand how he justifies interrupting in a society which he isn't a part of. How he justifies the imbalance he creates.

Thoughts?

I believe the teaser trailer was released a few months ago (without narrative part). I wasn't impressed with the trailer. Now they put two same trailers with two different narratives. They will definitely try to make Superman "deeper" in terms of storytelling. I just hope they don't make it 3 hours long. Give us substance. Give us Superman.

I will watch "Man of Steel." I just hope they don't screw it like the last one.

Well, Zack Snyder's directing. So I'm pretty sure we got the amazing action scenes covered. I just hope the story isn't crap. Snyder can do action, but his storytelling is often...ehh not the best. Watchman was an exception, though he obviously didn't write it.

It still baffles me how Bryan Singer, who brought the X-Men to life in such a great way, as well as classic films like The Usual Suspects and the excellent Valkyrie, could screw up Superman so badly.

Judging from the trailer and the names involved in making this movie, it actually looks like it will work. So far I hated every Superman movie. Let's hope this one breaks that tradition.

I don't think Russell Crowe is the right person to take on Jor El.

Couldn't disagree more. I think he's a great choice. Crowe as a person might not be that great, but as an actor I think he's great.

I hate Superman, not as a character, but in terms of his personality. In the comics, I always sympathised with Luthor more because he was the pinnacle of human intelligence whereas Superman was just this alien who came to Earth and had the gall to put himself above other humans.

We can always count on Typhus to completely miss the point.

I agree with what Typhus told and surely want to hear what point he misses. Superman only disrupted the balance. Luthor could have used his intelligence for better things though.

Well, the trailer does give me hope, and is surprisingly understated, which I like.

From the latest accounts I have heard, this will be a less powerful Kal-EL, as the military can hurt him, and Faora almost kills him in hand to hand. But the most important factor is do they understand the character?

Time will tell, and yes, I do think Zack will do justice to the action scenes though...

Hoo boy.

Anyhow - looks awesome. Not gonna lie, though - while I thought the tone worked really well for the teaser trailer, this one came off as a little too stuffed up. Just a hint.

But whatever! Some rad moments in there! Can't wait.

Caught a new trailer while seeing Star Trek over the weekend. Holy sh*t, this looks fantastic. I'm super stoked - way moreso than Superman Returns.

I'm actually really hyped for this one. Michael Shannon looks awesome and the man of steel himself is pretty cool. Hope this is a good film, probably going to see it the day it comes out.

I've already decided not to watch any new trailers or TV spots for this.

Next week, I'm gonna pick up some Superman comics to get in the mood. Speaking of which, Superman Unchained #1 comes out the week this movie does. It's written by Scott Snyder, and drawn by Jim Lee. For the comics layman, those are very big names for DC comics. So if you're pumped up for Man of Steel, be sure to stop by a comic shop on the 12th. It's not a tie-in or anything, just almost a surefire awesome new series.

I've just found that I've enjoyed movies more when I don't watch the trailers in the month leading up to the release. At least with these super hero/comic book movies. Trailers, most of the time, give away too much. Especially in those weeks leading up to opening night.
