Boring episode this week. Opie was awesome though.

Agreed. But there has to be episodes like this every now and then to build the suspense.

Still wondering what this pimp's role is in all of this. For some reason, I don't trust him.

I wish Clay would just f*ck off for a bit to be honest. Him bumbling around as an old crippled man is really starting to grate on me. I understand the writers are trying to make you feel a little bad for him, despite all he's done, but it's really starting to annoy me now biggrin.gif

Yeah, it was a bit of a down episode, but it's really set the scene for episode 3. Man, I miss being able to watch 5/6 episodes in one sitting sad.gif This whole waiting for a week thing is really starting to get to me cryani.gif

Lol, I hadn't really thought about it but when you put it like that Clay is getting a little tired to deal with. That scene where him and Unser bump into each other at Gemma's house and they both fumble, grunt and wheeze until they can catch a grip just screamed "God damn it, would you two just f*cking die already!"

Maybe I'm a little slow but can someone explain to me what Pope's deal is? Is he kind of like a Gus from Breaking Bad? I can tell he's got a foot in the dope or arms trade but what is his official deal?

I really don't know. All we know is that he is a legitimate business man, but we've yet to find out what he is fronting. I'm sure all will be explained soon. icon14.gif

It makes you understand why the killed off Piney. If Piney were still around, having two guys with an oxygen tank walking around like the living dead would be one too many.

Really? Because to me, it appears he's still as big a piece of sh*t as he ever was; manipulate and cunning is what he is. No feeling sorry form him. Not like he's earlier problems with arthritis, which are still prevalent, I might add.
And I love the twist of fate that he's become the new Piney. Clay's is a broken man, completely filled with rage. I was weary of what purpose he would serve this season, to what end? But I like his arc so far.

Also, Jimmy Smits ftw, in an uneventful hour. I hope he doesn't turn evil as quickly as I think the writers will turn him.

R.I.P Opie... you were a true warrior! cryani.gif

What an intense episode. It was seriously bumming me out waiting to see who would bite the bullet. Opie basically sacrificed his life, did you guys catch that? Wow... crazy stuff! I'm glad Tig doesn't have to stay in prison. I wonder what Jax's plans for him are... monocle.gif

Can't wait until the next episode!

Oh f*ck! He was my favorite character.

And Ryan Hurst is undoubtedly the best actor on the show. Well, he was.

What a brilliant episode, I was expecting more filler this week but we received an absolute bombshell. It kind of had to be Opie that died though, didn't it? His storyline has sort of came to an end and we got an early hint he was going to go last week with him and Lyla's conversation. He gave Sutter something difficult to navigate as a writer as well; the tension between him and Clay could only be allowed to transpire for so long without one of them biting the dust. Obviously we now want Pope's head on a stake, but at this point I don't think it is something we'll ever see.

Seen earlier posts that seemed tired with Clay. I wish Gemma would just f*ck off to be honest, she's an incredibly predictable and boring character now. She's not Queen anymore, so hopefully she will disappear into relative obscurity.

Why'd he have to go. He had such intensity at times. My favorite moment of the series is still when he killed the ATF bitch. We're running out of lovable secondary characters. Half-sack, Kozik, and now Opie.

Agreed. But I suppose his story was slowing down and coming to an end in many ways. There was no doubt more they could have done to keep him about, but his death will sure as sh*t have set up one hell of a season to come. As for Clay and Gemma, I think they're both still around for a reason. Gemma plays her role, but as someone said earlier she isn't the Queen any more, so something is going to have to happen eventually because she's running out of story and people to try and manipulate. As for Clay, again I think he's being kept around for a reason. At the moment he is kind of just dragging along for the ride though, but I have no doubt Sutter has something planned for him.

This episode was nuts, at first I was really bummed about Opie's self sacrifice but after some thought I reached the conclusion that others already have about his story arch running dry, that was a good way to send him off though. This pope guy seems to have a lot of reach, he's even pulling more strings than the white supremacist incest guy was. I thought it was a little weird and out of place when Pope gave Jax that little evil king pin pep talk though, something didn't feel right about that. I also think Jax is really going to let Tig die, I don't think he's going to be the noble criminal this time and try to get his brother out of the fire, I wouldn't be surprised if he's there when it happens and I also wouldn't be surprised if Tig just took it without begging for mercy.

Man, I really don't want to see Tig die... but if it was to happen kind of like you described.... then so be it. As long as he has some sort of noble death, fine by me. SOA is basically a modern day Hamlet, and we all know everyone dies by the end of that... so it would make sense.

However, I would like to see Tig have retribution BEFORE he dies though... he deserves it. icon14.gif

I hope Tig doesn't die. Yeah, it's sad that Pope's daughter was killed, but she was dating a gangster, and Tig didn't mean to hit her. It was an accident, and I'm sure a risk she was willing to make to be with that dude. Tig's daughter on the other hand was killed in a pretty horrific way, and was killed specifically to make Tig feel like sh*t, and in turn, make Pope feel better. Which didn't really work, because in the end his daughter is still dead. I feel that what Pope did to Tig's daughter was much worse than what Tig did to Pope's. On top of that he goes further and has Opie killed, and he's still not satisfied so he wants SOA to pay him, and for that, I hope that Pope after all is said and done is the one suffering for what he did. Preferably by the hands of Tig or Jax (don't think Jax is just going to let Opie go, and not want bloody vengeance).

^ Totally agree with everything you said. What Pope done to Tig's daughter is way worse than what Tig did to his. It all comes down to being Clay's fault if you think about it. Now that Opie is dead, I hope Tig is the one that kills Clay. The dude has put him through so much. Tig was loyal to him, but ever since Donna's death as well and now his daughter dying all because of him, I doubt that loyalty is going to hold up anymore. Can't wait to see how it all plays out!

I left this in the Breaking Bad thread, might as well leave this here too:

Yea , So the way things look right now is this...

Clay is turning in Piney, while Jax is turning into Clay. Gemma and Tara seem to hate each other again.

All of Opie's family including him are gone (except the kids and the porn start of course, but they are not major characters.)

By the looks of things, it is almost like the club is having a mirror image with new people in charge.

I hope Tig does not die anytime soon, but by the looks of it, it could happen.

Regardless how bad and screwed up Clay is, I still like his character and the actor who plays him, which is why I think they are keeping him for something good later on. Maybe he is going to try to take back the club leadership.

Awhile ago, there was a video I found that compares the characters from Sons of Anarchy to the characters from The Lost and Damned DLC from GTA IV EFLC, but the quality of the video was not good, and Im not sure if the descriptions are very close to eachother..

I do believe Tig will die eventually, because after all... the story is inspired by Hamlet. Here's something to ponder... in Hamlet, Clay would be King Claudius and Tig would be Laerte, one of Claudius' loyal henchmen. By the end of Hamlet, Laertes is involved in the death of King Claudius because of all the lies and deception he cast upon him. Hamlet Jr. was the one that actually killed him, but Laertes helped, and was killed not long after because he was a loose end. So yeah, we will see how it plays out in the show. It might be something a bit similar that happens.

Also, The Lion King is inspired by Hamlet. So let's compare Lion King characters to SOA:

John Teller - Mufasa
Jax - Simba
Tara - Nala
Clay - Scar
Gemma - Sarabi
Tig - Hyenas

That's all I can think of at the moment. biggrin.gif

Wouldn't Clay be Scarface in that comparison? Also, do you guys think Clay is sending those patch overs out to ransack people's houses or they're doing it on their own?

EDIT: Scar you mean? Yeah, that's what I meant to put. Claudius is the bad king from Hamlet... I accidentally put in the wrong thing. blush.gif

It really is pretty crazy how much SoA, The Lion King, and Hamlet all have in common. I actually just watched Lion King again not too long ago because of that, and I was very surprised just how alike it was with SoA. Go watch Lion King if you guys don't believe me! Even manly men watch old Disney movies! icon14.gif
