The 1.7 pre-release came out a few days ago, this is apparently what is coming in full release which should be soon if the pre-release is out. Sounds sexy:

 

 

 

  • New world generation!
    • Double the amount of biomes, with new trees/flowers/blocks.
    • New “Amplified” world option.
    • Less ocean, more awesome.
  • New blocks!
    • Two new types of wood.
    • Stained glass! With both blocks and panes.
    • Packed ice, red sand, podzol.
    • Lots of new flowers, including double-tall versions of current plants.
  • Fishing!
    • Added more type of fish.
    • Redone the fishing mechanics. Can now catch junk and treasure too.
    • Fishing rod enchantments!
  • Maps!
    • Put them in an item frame and hang them on your wall. They’re extra big!
    • Lots of new colours for lots of blocks!
    • Now will less lag!
  • Achievement & Statistics overhaul!
    • Now both world (or server) specific.
    • In multiplayer, it’s announced to everybody when you get an achievement.
      • You can move your mouse over this in the chat to see what it was!
    • Some new achievements and statistic types were added.
    • Zoomable achievements screen!
  • Multiplayer enhancements!
    • Servers can now put a 32×32 image called “server-icon.png” in their folder, that you will see on your server list.
    • You can see who’s online before joining a server; move your mouse over the player count!
    • Lots of hidden preparation for allowing name changes.
  • Resource pack changes!
    • You can now have multiple selected.
    • They can completely re-do your sounds, adding new ones or changing current ones.
    • Servers can now recommend a resource pack for you to use.
  • Chat & command improvements!
    • New commands to spawn mobs or blocks of any type.
    • Command block minecart!
    • Clickable links to achievements and items.
    • Click on somebody’s name in the chat to message them!
  • Lots and lots of internal work!
    • Completely rewrote how the network (multiplayer) works.
    • Completely rewrote the sound manager.
    • New graphics options.
    • Basic shader support testing.

Minecraft 1.7.1 releases tomorrow at around 15:00 CEST. I look forward to joining yall, It's been so long. GTA V and GTA Online has took up all my gaming time, but I'll definitely be back to some Minecraft now that this awesome update is releasing.

As a member of the Wet Blanket Society of Greater America I'd like to remind everyone that the server doesn't update until some manner of usable Bukkit build is released. Which could be a couple weeks.

With the changes 1.7 brings it is an entire new map, it will also be a long wait for bukkit given the under the hood changes.

Holy sh*t, I haven't touched Minecraft nor keeping up to date with their updates for months since V haha.

 

I'd definitely have a go again in the server once the new map's running.

Just flew around on a couple new map seeds. Very nice. The whole time I was mostly in Mesa/Mesa Plateau/Mesa (Bryce) and the Gerudo Valley song was stuck in my head.

 

I could see Mesa biomes getting wiped out in the course of mining. I recommend protected status for the closest Mesa (Bryce) on the new map :p  

 

Savanna's were pretty cool too with one of the two new tree types (Acacia).

 

Saw a bunch of snowless Taiga that looked really weird and I was worried it might be a glitch until I found Cold Taiga and Mega Taiga (naturally occurring mossy cobble!). 

 

I hope the next patch brings more critters to fill out these areas. Though maybe they'll focus on villagers or adventure mechanics.

When the server is back with 1.7.2 I'll like totally start playing again.

 

Can we make sure we get a nice seed with lots of new biomes around spawn?

I'd love it if we used the new terrain options, I'm imagining a mesa biome on Amplified mode and it's enough to make me drool.

 

So much clay...

 

Oh and I'd very much like it if we a general server goal to work towards; like having hardcore mode on until we as a community have killed all the bosses in the game and can set up a beacon and a shrine to the Ender Dragon. It'd be a fun thing to do and we'd probably have more people playing if only to help with accomplishing a server-wide task that'd benefit everyone.

I finally got around to finishing Saint Tom's Cathedral. Yay!

 

It's right outside spawn, can't miss it.

Using Aplified would cut the amount of players significantly. I know I sure as hell would not be able to play with this PC.

Agreed. However, not understood. Is it simply because he number of blocks is, like, way higher? Simple answer for simple question?

Survivalcraft is a great mobile game, much better than the Minecraft Pocket Edition. I can't really stand mobile gaming though. If Survivalcraft was on PC I'd definitely buy it day one, as it would be a great alternative to minecraft.

When can we expect to see the server updated to 1.7? I'd really like to get back into some Minecraft, but I'm so tired of 1.6.

So i have been planning and got some idea's that i want to build on the new map.

it's just a waiting game now untill we update to 1.7 :bored: , Any updates available for the server yet?

By the time a recommended build releases, 1.8 will almost be out.

We usually update when Bukkit releases a beta build, as that at least gives us (some) plugin support and by the time a recommended build comes out our plugins are usually fully updated or at least stable enough to use.

 

However...it seems to be longer and longer between updates with Bukkit nowadays, there's not even a development build out yet.

 

Might as well download a back up of what we have now and put vanilla 1.7 on while we wait :^:

 

Edit! Server is now on vanilla 1.7.2 random seed; this isn't Bukkit so there is no plugin support whatsoever but the whitelist is still on. Hopefully there will be a beta build soon and we can start adding plugins again. If this map seems OK we can keep it longer term or we can experiment with the new world types in the mean time.  I won't be on much tonight but hopefully see some of you old regulars later on in the week :)

Awesome! One of the new forest biomes is beautiful. What I've been wanting for ages, snow biome with no snow.

Had fun getting back into Minecraft tonight. I was joined by PepperJack and Zdak, we were able to find some really cool new biomes as we adventured. One of the first biomes we found was a Roofed Forest, which was always dark and dangerous. Due to dieing so much we had to relocate. Next biome we found was the Mega Tiaga, which was a huge beautiful forest with 2x2 Spruce trees. After staying there for a few nights, we packed up again and headed east to find a smaller tiaga biome. It was a nice location, so we decided to build a small house there and seek out a place for a more permanent home. What we found next though was jaw dropping. Though it wasn't a new biome, we found a massive Mooshroom Island. It's by far one of the biggest Mooshroom Islands I've ever seen. That about wraps it up for tonight. I look forward to exploring again tomorrow. Also Kirsty I hope you save this seed, because from what I've seen already, it's an amazing seed. Below I will post some screenshots from tonight.

I would like to suggest that sometime in the future we could relocate the server spawn point. Not priority number one, but still necessary in my opinnion.

You can easily see how bad the spawn in. We could move it to either the plains or the stone mountain. Having a spawn village on the mountain region would force people to use their imagination just like in TPL, instead of building houses in a grid on flat land.

Pictures of the mega taiga and the mushroom biome were already posted by Chase.






Servers can now put a 32×32 image called “server-icon.png” in their folder, that you will see on your server list.


Maybe this? Does it support transparency?
