QUOTE
Nikola Tesla was the father of the electric age. Despite having drop-kicked humanity into a second industrial revolution, up until recently he's been an unsung hero in history books. If you don't know who Tesla is, go read this.

Tesla's final laboratory is located in the sleepy town of Shoreham, New York.† It's known as Wardenclyffe and it's where Tesla attempted to build a tower that would provide free wireless energy to the entire earth. Unfortunately, Tesla lost his funding before the project was completed and in 1917 the Wardenclyffe tower was demolished.† Subsequently, the land was sold to a film and paper manufacturer.

However, the land, laboratory, and foundation beneath the tower are still there and very recently went up for sale. And right now a non-profit is trying to buy the property and turn it into a Nikola Tesla Museum. The property is listed at $1.6 million, and this non-profit has received a matching grant from New York State of up to $850k.† This means that if we can raise $850k, New York State will match us for that same amount -- putting the total raised at $1.7 million.

TESLA MUSEUM!

We need to get behind this!

I'll help fund it, as long as they promise to construct a 20-foot tall bronze middle finger and dedicate it to Edison.

Same, I'm trying to get some money for it. Plus, I want to also be able to say to any future children I have or met that I helped build the greatest museum in the WORLD!

Done my share of donations in the last couple weeks, and it's in America, perhaps later i will donate.

Tesla was a genius if you ask me, too bad he didn't get the funding and such because i am sure he would have come up with something else brilliant.

I visited the Tesla museum in Belgrade and it was definitely a most fascinating experience; I've donated to this in the hope that many Americans and other visitors can experience the pleasure, almost first hand, of how truly amazing a character and intellect, and how truly insightful a man, Nikola Tesla was. Great cause.

He was really a great man, he is probably my favorite inventor of all time. I don't really have the means to contribute right now, I might save up some money, put it in my account and contribute. I'd like a t-shirt for sure.

Edit: Tesla museum in Belgrade? That sounds interesting and it is close by my location. It would make an awesome trip, I bet.

I didnt even read any of that because I've had a hard on for Tesla for years. He is probably my favorite person in history and he got completely screwed over.

Yep. Trust me, it is. If this proposed museum is half as unrelentingly interesting as the one in Serbia, then Americans will still be forever blessed by it.

I've been to Tesla Museum in Belgrade. He was one of the greatest scientists this world has ever seen. He had a unique visualization ability. He could visualize entirely new designs completely in his head and work on them without ever making them.

Donations? Nikola Tesla? Public awareness campaign?

Ok I don't know who this guy is, but he's clearly a sick bastard who needs to be stopped. Let's make this guy famous and stop his tyrannical reign of terror and human rights abuses.

I took me 20 minutes downloading and uploading the images. I'll happily add it if someone can combine them into one simple image.

Lost a bit of quality, but it should work - just center and link it. I'll get started on the other article.

E2: if you want to link this, here's the original post describing his badassness. It's 10,000 pixels tall though, so I would advise against putting it in the OP as an image. lol.gif http://i.imgur.com/7P7RN.jpg

Out of curiosity, did his wireless free energy work? Did the ever run tests, small scale and on the tower? Or even in theroy?

Just seems that if it worked, why in the last x amount of years has it not been futher researched?

But yeah, hats off to the visionaries.

If you're a cool enough dude to have David Goddamn Bowie play you in a movie, you clearly deserve a museum.

Also, Christian Bale is doing another film with Tesla in it?

Wow. I really would have thought there would HAVE to be a Tesla museum. Honestly, I'm surprised that there isn't.

Also surprising that there are people out there that don't know of his contributions and discoveries. The man was a genius, and the world would not be what it is today without his crazy ass and grasp of science and electricity.

*I donated to the cause*
