3 hours... Well, not gonna download it.

And to your question regarding the mipmapping. I highly doubt it. I downloaded one of the txd file

and checked if they have mipmaps, they have zero mipmaps. Roads textures are 2048x2048.

The game will look very ugly for people playing GTA SA on 1024x768. It will look very pixelated.

Well, here are my first impressions:

The textures are VERY similar to original ones, you may not see the difference until you come closer!

Some of the textures are really breathtaking, but they are not everywhere.

The vegetation textures are also nice, but with the original DFF's, I know it's hard to create something better.

I've also seen graffiti retexured, and that's really awesome.

However, the textures are NOT mipmapped, and that means a LOT of grain.

Also, not all of Los Santos is covered, some parts don't even have new roads - only selected houses retextured.

 

The new lighthouse's DFF is a perfect example of a new model, but it's the only example in this beta version, sadly.

 

I know this is far from finished, but for a beta, it's not that bad, but no mipmapping is a big no-no for me.

I haven't yet downloaded myself newest release, though I'd also appreciate some mip-mapping... You can use DDS plug-in in Photoshop or Gimp to create your textures in .dds-format, with correct compression, and then use DDS2TXD by DK22Pac to create txd-archives. It's not big thing to do (comparing to the rest of the project), though it does increase the overall look a lot.

Well, despite the mod is looking really great, it kinda sucks there are a lot of grain.

It's not worth it IMO.

Thanks for the update dima001rus, it gives hope that the mod will be finished! I love the original look of the textures. Hope you will release the mipmap version soon.

One suggestion: make a base version where only textures are change and separate parts where some of the models and textures are changed. The model+texture changes could be provided as an addon. I'm a bit worried that model changes may result in compatibility problems with other mods that change them.

I have to mention, that 1.3 release  is a kind of "unofficial" due to some team-cooperation questions. In fact, MaKs_IV decided to release it by his own. Thus why on Liberty City and not on official site gmc.3dn.ru.

 

I hope, team will solve this questions and finally we will get full version of RoSA. Unfortunately, it is still impossible to say the exact date or even to talk about future plans of RoSA team members.

 

There are also a lot of things to do even in present versions - like bug fixes, mip-maps adding and etc.

By the footsteps of RoSA 1.3 - RoSA 1.4. Unofficial also. It looks like there is no chance for final version =(

RoSA 1.4 contains textures for countryside around SF and Chilliad region. HD train textures as a bonus for this version.

I've done the mipmaps myself for all versions of RoSa and it looks stunning !

I would .. But its 5GB uncompressed, and I have a bandwidth limit, and my upload is slow.

It would be quicker to do it yourself (approx 2 hours) using the following two tools:

DK's plugin, and riquenunes's tool.

riquenunes's tool extracts all the .txd's in the folder as TGA's, converts them to DDS, and mipmaps them.
DK's plugin puts the DDS's back into a TXD.

Its an automated process, so just set it up properly, run the tool, and go do something else.
