Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Weapon Guide

This will be a full, detailed walkthrough about the weapons that can be found at San Andreas.

First of all, there are some things that you should know about the weapons of the game.

1. All the weapons in this game have a fixed spawn point, Respawn in up to six (6) minutes. Meaning that any weapon can be aquired at any stage of the game.
2. San Andreas is the only GTA game with "weapon skill", which means that the more hits when you use a weapon, the better the skill becomes.
3. San Andreas was the first GTA game to introduce new things in the weapon system of the game, such as:
- Accuracy
- Strafing with most weapons (moving while you aim)
- Moving while crouching
- the necessity of having to aim with most of the weapons on, unlike Vice City and GTA 3. (Only on the PC version)

Rules:
1. Any tips, errors, or writing errors you will find should be addressed to me in a PM.

Well, now that we got that out of the way, let's start the walkthrough!

NOTE: Item Locations mentioned herein (PC) are not all inclusive. There are many more item Locations to be found by EXPLORING. And, some Items may be taken as prizes from NPCs.The PS2 game has some different and more locations for some items.

I. Melee weapons
The melee weapons have made a return in San Andreas, and they keep the same status as in Vice. Strong, but useless againts guns.

FistIcon_%28GTA_IV%29.png
The good ol' puching and kicking is available at San Andreas too. Weak, but satisfying as hell.

Slot Name Damage: RoF: Range: Weight: Use Standing Use Crouched Strafe Jump/Climb Sprint 1 Fist 1/5 2/5 1/5 5/5 Yes Yes* N/A Yes Yes

FREE (default) weapon.
* If crouched when CJ attacks he will stand to punch.
Note: If CJ is 'Wasted' or 'Busted' the cops or hospital will take everything and leave CJ with only his fists and money. On the PS2 game they will take $100 as well. To Keep your weapons when 'Busted' date Barbara the Cop. To keep your weapons when 'Wasted' date Katy the Nurse.

BRASSKNUCKLEicon.gif An upgrade to the fist. Only problem: this weapon cannot be changed, unless you die or get busted by the police.

*When crouched CJ will stand to fight.

baticon.gif The well known weapon is good for something else that playing baseball. It's good for beating people up!

Offered as a Mission pickup, "Cleaning the Hood".

nitestickicon.gif The weapon used by officers. You know it.

poolcueicon.gif This "stick" is used at, you guessed it, a pool game. It's the longest melee weapon, and it's also pretty good.

knifecuricon.gif My favorite melee weapon. Small, but very dangerous if used right. This weapon can be used for stealth executions, which will make no noise. The damage varies. attacking someone from behind will make the best damage.

Slot Name Damage: RoF: Range: Weight: Use Standing Use Crouched Strafe Jump/Climb Sprint 2 Knife 1.5/5 2/5 1/5 5/5 Yes Yes* N/A Yes Yes

*Crouch behind your target. Aim, if CJ raises his knife hand, shoot, for CJ to cut the target's throat.
FREE pickup in a delivery bay behind the 'All Saints General Hospital'

katanaicon.gif Just like the knife, but longer, and stronger. But one thing this weapon is good at, it can behead enemies in one slash, if used correctly.

Unlimited Ammo at 100% Game Completion.
When you beat the game 100% you earn Unlimited Ammuntion.
You will see whatever the ammo count was at game end, BUT when you 'run out' it will automatically reload.

The Ammunition Glitch at the Ammu-Nation Store Range:
(This is Not a Cheat.)
While having the Tec-9 in CJ’s possession entering the Ammu-Nation challenge and immediately cancelling it will double the current ammo count of Assault Rifle, Rifle, Shotguns (except *the Standard shotgun), Sniper-Rifle, Pistol.
After raising the ammo count you can pickup another Machine Gun.
Each time you cancel the range test the ammo count doubles for the acceptable weapons.
*Having the Standard shotgun in CJ’s possession will remove all shotgun ammunition.
When the ammo count disappears you have over 9,999 rounds. You DO-NOT have infinite ammo, as soon as the count drops below 10,000 it will show again.
Infinite ammo is earned ONLY by completing the game with 100%.

The Skills Improvement Trick :
(This is not a cheat.)
You may improve the skill CJ has by parking vehicles in a Safe House Garage. You then shoot the Vehicle(s) until they start to burn. Walk away letting the Garage door close. The Garage will repair the vehicle. You may then repeat the process until the weapon reachs the desired level. Note: that, although high, the Garages do have a limit to the amount of repairs they can make.

Nice job on the pretty detailed topic here. Have some cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif smile.gif

However, Are you sure about the reward for the Snapshots and Horseshoes-as I have been playing this game A LOT since 2006, and I have never seen money awarded for those? Unless that is a PS2 exclusive? I use V2 mainly and sometimes V3(the Steam version) for PC....Just curious on that? confused.gif

Also, a note on the mission "Just Business", after the mission ends, CJ is left with only like 60 rounds for the Micro SMG-no matter how much you had previously for some reason? For example, I usually have 5000+ rounds for the SMG(thanks to the Chain Game Armories) and after the mission I am left with a Micro SMG with only like 50 or 60 rounds...

Also, to clear up any confusion that *may* come up on the Tags note above, the (94) is the number of tags done on your own, as 6 are done in a mission(Tagging up Turf)... smile.gif

Also, it is worth noting that in order to obtain the weapons in the police stations, have a melee weapon(or camera/spray/cane, etc.) showing BEFORE picking up a gun, so the gun is not shown upon pick up and thus no wanted level for displaying a firearm... tounge2.gif

Nice topic, but you may want to fix one issue. If that's not a problem you may change all weapons icon to look like M4 one. Transparent icons look better with all the skins.

I would like to add something:

In Pistol, there may be chances that a hooker can bring out one if you melee attack them in any way. This is also applied to criminal peds.
In Micro Uzi and Tec 9:You can get this from dead gang members.
In Shovel, you may put:If you crash into a car, there may be chances that the driver will come out equipped with a Shovel.

In Changing of weapons-Breaking the Bank at Caligula's, you will also be equipped with a SMG(MP5). It replaces whatever SMG you have.

Something that I've never been able to find since. But I once found a heat seeking "bazooka" on the top of one the multi-story carparks in Las Venturas. I've searched for it a few times and discovered their are a lot more car parks in LV than I first thought.

Has anyone else ever found it and if so, do you know which car park it is?

It is the one closest to the Verdant Meadows.

When I (v2 Pc) Collected all the Snap Shots & Horseshoes the $100,000 is rolling up in the counter while the Victory music is playing.

Holding the Flowers is safest when picking up weapons in the Police Stations to avoid getting wanted stars.

There are 4 spawn points, maybe you missed one. Otherwise, if you collected them and saved afterwards then they are gone. It's possible to replace them with mods/edits/cheat device codes but not through normal gameplay.

Night vision goggles respawn normally. Perhaps add availability info for the goggles. They are added to the map after... (I forget).

Thermal Goggles after Black Project
Night Vision Goggles after Breaking the Bank at Caligula's

I was under the impression that PS2 and PC versions have the same pickups (except PS2 has two-player pickups).

Normal respawn time for weapons is 6 minutes. The sniper rifle on the hill south of the SF airport, and fire extinguishers in fast food joints will respawn in 45 seconds. These fast respawn weapons will not appear on new games started after loading an existing save because they are created by data files and not the game scripts.

Would the note on special melee damage from the parachute be more appropriate in the description for the parachute since that is the icon showing when it works?

The purple dildo does not spawn in the LV police station; it can only be found in the shared LS/Dillimore station, or in Millie's house (Millie's won't respawn). The silver vibe spawns by a dumpster in Bayside. The other sex toys are unused by the standard game.

Once Dual Wield level is reached you cannot go back to single pistol.

If you alter the weapons.dat line of Pistol, Tec-9, Micro SMG, Sawn off Shotgun, you can still make it a one-handed weapon.
Sorry if this sounds like modding to you guys, but I tried it downloading an altered weapons.dat and it worked just like how GTA IV holds single handed weapons, the only difference is that its in III era.

Just like you said it, it's modding. I know it can be done, I can do it do.

@lzw3 I don't see the problem. It's just my opinion. Each weapon has a description if that's what you mean.

This is getting interesting. I did a search of the building patios and roofs.
In my game (V2 PC) there are only one Sniper-Rifle and one Body Armour on the same balcony. All the other areas of the building are clear.

Radioman: I did a redo of the Oysters, Horseshoe, and Snapshot collections. They all give a $100,000 when the final Item in each is collected.

So are there really variations between games (V2 PC U.S.A.)?

So are there really variations between games (V2 PC U.S.A.)?

I just checked the super clean (no dropped weapons or money from peds) v1 and v2 In the Beginning saves I created for making my custom CG PS2 saves. Each has 565 pickups, which includes ten 2-player pickups. Clean In the Beginning saves for PC v1 and v2 have 555 pickups. I'm very confident that the pickups are identical except for the 2-player icons, although some of the pickups might be 1/8th of a meter off due to differences in how PC and PS2 rounds off the numbers.

EU scripts appear to be identical to their North American counterparts.

There are significantly more parked vehicles available on PS2, so that "Panda" Police Ranger parked at the Dillimore police station is only available on PS2.

I have noticed this in-between the versions right when I got SA. Do you have any idea why they decided to remove most parked cars in the PC and Xbox games?

The one thing I noticed going from PS2 to PC was more Trash and Palm trees.

What about the spawning of the Sniper-rifle or RPG on that building behind Hobo's Express. My PC has the rifle, my PS2 has the RPG?
And Radioman's saying he doesn't get the prize money when collecting, anyone else not getting it?.
