Please don't flood and do not say it's crap or like that :3
I'm 13 years old and I'm creating it alone...

Warning, this game uses many trademarks owned by Rockstar Games. I give some credits them.
Hey guys, I want to show you my game I'm making a few years already. It's sorta a Grand Theft Auto clone. It is made on Game Maker 8 engine.
---------Story
(sorry it begins stupid)
The game is about a guy, Martin Couston. He was left an orphan by alcohol addicted parents, and had to sleep under lamp posts and couldn't get any money. After about 20 years he wanted to meet with his friend, but when he got in the bank, the bank was surrounded by a group of robbers. When he was lying on the floor, someone said he's Ray Ontosito, and he is an owner of some small clubs in Alderney. He asked, does Martin have a gun, and Martin said he'll try to shoot those robbers. He pulls of his glock and shoots them. After Martin and Ray run out of the bank, Ray asks, does Martin want to work for him, and after thinking, he agrees...
---------The map
The map looks like the original GTA IV map, but they are different a bit.
There will not be Bohan, Broker and Dukes.
If you want, you can help me to make models (it takes too much time), but it's not necceseary.
---------My plans
Bold - almost completed.

Motion Blur (looks like crap, can be turned off)
Getting in and out of the car
Day&night cycle (may be better)
A test gun
RMB aiming
Player model (textures aren't completed yet)
Guns (Deagle .50, Micro-UZI, M4 rifle)
North part of Alderney (making building models and dynamic objects) (it ends at the street where Hickey bridge starts)
Clean skybox with moving clouds
Stealing cars (Made it!!!)
---------Radio stations
There will be a few radio stations, that are:
-Liberty Rock Radio 98.7 (classic rock of '70 and '80)
-K109 The Studio (old disco)
-Vladivostok FM (russian music)
-Electrochoc FM (some electro-crap)
-Vibe FM (modern pop-crap)
I would like to see some suggestions for the last two stations. Tnx.
---------Screens
A new screen (just added a new skybox texture, soon I'll add moving clouds)
user posted image
Just wanted to create some guys and running with them. It's a glitch, actually (but I liked it biggrin.gif )
user posted image
Here are the old screens (don't barf :3)

FPS is low, because I have opened some programs and they make it lag a bit :3
---------New video

---------Credits
Spiro Schuring - scripting, some stuff
H2X - scripting
Thanks to them, without them it could not be possible.

Looks good, Nice to see GTA inspired you to make a game for yourself, What game-play features are you planning on implementing?

There will be slow-motion (looks like Max Payne a bit) to aim better.
I don't know, but, maybe you'll not be able to steal cars. I doublt it, but it'll look stupid if you'll not be able to steal them. Player has his own car already, and he's not a "gangstra, that wants moneh, much moneh"
There will be about ten weapons.

p.s. the game cannot run smoothly on weak pc's =(
I'm going to make another version of game after release, it's the same, but graphics will be terrible, the models will not be good.

Your user description says you're learning C++. Have you thought about using something more powerful than Game Maker 8? There are some open-sourced game engines(Ogre3D, NeoAxis and idTech 4 come to my mind) that look quite decent and give much more opportunity than GM8 and you could actually learn C++ with those.

My C++ skills aren't good at all;
And it just would not possible if I'll be making it alone.

You should consider making this game on SA engine (or VC). Creating your own engine will probably take a huge amount of time, and the result won't be anywhere near the orginal game.

My GTA modding skills are bad, I can't even make a model for SA.
Maybe it's a nice idea, but it'll be hard for me.

Considering you made it by yourself at 13, it looks really good. I can tell you have a future in game developing.

That looks pretty good, considering the fact you are 13.

I have a couple suggestions, how about a rap station with GOOD rap. No Lil Wayne, YMCMB, or pop rap.

Really good work from a new guy like you. You got talent.

The Grand Theft Auto franchise is the best base to start making your own game. You can do pretty much everything you want in this kind of games. Keep it going, dude. wink.gif

Very nice! I couldn't create anything like that but I have to ask you a question. Did you model that car? No offence but the model doesn't look like it was made by a 13 year old.

@ NGT,

That looks great for someone of your age and experience! I'm 28 and couldn't do that although, I have tried I lack the design skills and I'm not artistic.

Looks cool as. As others have said awesome job for your age especially. I'm 15, I could never do that.

The story sounds very familiar though... lol.gif

Again, good job, keep it up and I hope it all goes well!

Very Nice, do you have any plans to zip up what you have got and let us few visitors test it out.

I would like to test this out, and might be able to do a little bit of modeling.

I don't know about testing, you can ask me for that on my email [email protected]
Someone asked about the car, I want to say, it's Buccaneer (that crap biggrin.gif ) from SA. I'm going to convert it again soon.
And the video is old.

Here's an idea:
Don't make it Liberty City.

I'm sick of New York settings in games, and I'm sure many others are too.

So I am the first one to be honest right here?
It looks pretty cheap and you'll never finish that (not trying to be a dick but telling you the outcome)
I know it's hard to hear that but someone has to be honest with you...
You are 13 and full of creative ideas (I know that feeling) but you have to realize that you are:

- too young to play a GTA game
- too young and unskilled to develop a GTA game
- only wasting your time

I of course appreciate good comments, but I will not listen idiots like you. Sorry, but if you don't like it, just get the hell out of this thread. I don't understand people like you, who just like to hate someone.
And why is it a waste of time? I'm skilled (not much but fine) and even if I'm 13 years old, it doesn't mean anything. I think not many people can make something like this in the age of 13....
p.s. I want to ask, can you even create anything like this?

smile.gif I understand that you feel like I want to bring you down but I just want to tell you how this will end in a nice way
Believe me if I say that I had to learn it the hard way with people really being harsh!
Everyone feels like he's going to make it and his ideas will work (and I'm the first one who would like to see you actually making it)
But experience told me a different story
Why do you think hundreds of people work 2 or more years on a GTA?
It would be too hard for a single person even if he was a great programmer and had a lot of experience

I was involved in some projects while being older than you (in one of them we were working in a team of about 12 persons and we gave up after 5 months because it's a hell lot of work)
Not to talk about several web pages I tried to create (being about as old as you are right now) which totally failed because I was simply too young!
I REALLY know it's hard to hear that but boy, you are only 13 years old don't get to worked up about this, you still have more than enough time to try something like this when you're a little bit older

I know that might sound harsh but compared to how I had to learn it (and pretty much everyone who tried something like this) it's as inoffensive as it could get

There is a big difference between constructive criticism and plain criticism. The only slight bit of constructive criticism i see in your post is that it looks cheap, I'm pretty sure NewGamesTeam knows that this wont be the next AAA title, but you do have to start somewhere Simply giving up isn't going to get you anywhere! Keep on pluggin is all i can add to this, if anything doing little projects like this and teaching yourself the basics will only help latter on if you wish to pursue being a game designer/artist Make sure you work hard at school and try to make the right educational choices and hopefully you will come out of it older and wiser with the required knowledge in the fields you require!

I am, at least in the UK where I live. You have too be 18 to play GTA games, yet I'm only 17. I'd be old enough if I lived in the US though.
