..the problem is I can't do it all by myself.

user posted image

I can model buildings, texture (respectably), bake. I am also starting to learn to import maps in GTAIV. I would rather find a team to help me out and create this map, though.
I have already made the VC heightmap, using CryEngine 3 to better edit it. However, it can't be made in CE3.

Staffing needs:
-A road planner/terrain artist to cut the pie and export
-A modeler for character editing/creation
-Another buildings modeler
-A couple of texture guys
*Of course, if anyone has experience exporting maps to GTAIV (or V if we're that late), please join in.

The idea is to reimagine Vice City on a bigger scale than the old game (think GTA3 LC vs GTAIV LC). I wouldn't like toI'd really love to add the swamps and forests to the NW, but I'm not sure we'll even be able to get the islands done, until we gather up.

-The map size is 8192x8192m (1m~3ft/pixel)
-VC is 4,8km long (vertical axis)

Targets (changed):
-Recreate Vice City
-Port original VC radio stations
-Add missing vehicles (some of them are already in GTAIV)
-Create Malibu, Ocean view and a few more enterable places (malls, houses). I wonder if Split Sides' show (audio, models and animations) could be "transplanted" as is
-Create a functional subway system
-Add mini-Cuba (the little island at the bottom right corner)

Other ideas (changed):
-Add female cops
-Modify or edit LC's TV stations and shows to 80's style ones (we'll need a script for that)

You are the first mod leader to post here with actual skill in a long time, i doubt there are many modders here with abilities that you want who aren't already working on other TC's.

Agree with RoadRunner, good luck. smile.gif

Krapea is finished, except for some props that will come later. Coming up, the Vice Air Arena!

That looks awesome, maybe some of the modders of these unfinished map conversions to Rage can help you.

I hope so. I'm contacting every one of them day-by-day.

Here's where Vice's best take to the court: the Vice Air Arena! Of course it is still a WIP. I need to make the entire plaza.

I don't think I'll make it enterable. It would take as much work as half the city to make it interesting and I'm working alone for now. Krapea won't be for sure though. I've lived through the IKEA nightmare twice, I won't make one myself!

Very nice, keep it up.
The map needs a little dirt and muck and "glue", its very flat, also vertex coloring.

yes you're right cause a map is more real when you add dirt in the building edges (glue).

Moving on. I know the textures look crap, but I won't focus on them for now. No model=no need for textures.

Finished the first island's coastline. Now I'm forming the terrain around the Vice Air Arena. Once the area is done, I'll move on to the next building. Textures aren't final, roads haven't been placed yet.

So, is this mod supposed to be Vice City or are you just taking certain buildings and landmarks from Vice City and putting them into IV?
Whatever you're doing it looks great so far. Good luck with the rest of it.

Are you planning redoing all the buildings?

Also I have some ideas, first doing at least one more bridge in the upper part of the map.
And second, depending of the final size of the map, resources you have, etc, adding the Florida Keys, and the highway that goes through them, that would start in the lower end of the right side island.

No bridges have been made yet, except for a placeholder. I'm planning on making a current-gen VC (2000's version) about the size of LC. Once the city is done, I'll think about adding Cuba and the Keys.
Having done the trip from VC to Cuba in a slightly bigger version than the one I'm making, it might bore you to travel that far by speedboat or heli. Let's get the city done, first.

My God! Looks fantastic! It's like Los Santos in GTA V, updated city with fresh looking buildings, but it is Vice City smile.gif Keep up! smile.gif
