How much money can you guess they will spend developing GTA V in dollars or British Pounds

My first estimate: $ 200,000,000

It is double of what they spent of GTA IV and guessing the map size and upgraded engine etc i'm guessing that amount so post your guesses and theories here and i will read them

No way. GTAIV cost $100,000,000 because it was a whole new engine; everything had been re-built from the ground up. Now that they have a lot of coding from GTAIV since its in the same era, its unlikely to have a higher cost than GTAIV. However, I know how R* aims to go above and beyond, so I can see them spending another $100,000,000 for GTAV for the sake of better physics, graphics, & most of all features.

$250,000,000.00 or about three fifty (million) devil.gif money is a tool needed for humans progression development. Money brings about the good and bad in us. I guess gold was too easy to steal and reconfigure to carry any smart mans image of conquest. Damn humans. lol.gif whatsthat.gif

I would say that 120 millions, as it have taken as much development time as IV, and the crew number may be higher.

la noire was about 100 million, and they changed publishershalfway through, they developed new technology for the game too, I doubt V would cost that much.

I still can't fathom how working with that new engine could cost $100mil. That's a HUGE figure. I mean, really, where do all those expenses go? RnD?.. Employee wages?.. Working resources?..

How does that hit a 9-figure cost?

I'd say very expensive, but perhaps not as expensive as GTA4. Gotta remember building a new game engine is a long, arduous, extremely technically demanding task that requires paying a lot of the world best programmers for a long time. GTA5 doesn't really have this expense. They also have more experience now, there custom production tools are likely more feature rich, faster and more stable. Developers typically always have part of there games that need prerendering (not just for cutscenes, but for effects, in game scenes). Prerendering takes many hours, but as computers get more powerful and more efficient, these speeds are improved and costs reduced.

Taking all this into account, i'd say $60 to $80m, ignoring the marketing budget (Which will be of an equally huge size). I could be wrong though, if it was found out that it cost $100m or even $120m I would believe it.

Realistically this game could cost $250m and still make a huge profit.

My guess is... 80,000,000 (in the first case of the two below)

BUT, the question is, did GTA IV cost 100,000,000 including the engine, or the engine doesn't count in that figure because it wasn't made for that game alone??

So far GTA V has already cost 80 Million Dollars! And these reports were given last year! Im assumng GTA V will cost around 200-250 Million to make. It will most likely be the best game EVER MADE! Imagine GTA IV but 6 times bigger and with better graphics and more stuff in it. o_O

Not more than 100 million that's for sure. As already mentioned, R* had to start from scratch when making GTA4, this is not the case with V.

I would say between $100,000,000 and $200,000,000 at the most
