Been over this many times with VC. First of all, Dutchy and Patrick would have to start all over from scratch. They don't have much time these days. Second, that's going backwards. If they were to bring DYOM for a second game, it would be forward, not backwards. So GTA:IV or possibly GTA:V once it comes out.

I don't think it'll be possible to make DYOM for IV. MPACK requires some memory addresses to fit GTAIV's exe which only San Andreas has so far.

Actually, it is possible, even I know that. However, it would be too hard.

The memory hacks would be the hardest part.

I think Dutchy and PatrickW clearly said that they will stick to San Andreas for now, however GTA SA has more stable engine than VC and GTA3 and it is more popular only because of multiplayer.

Yeah, that. But SA is the best GTA for modding. It has the best mods and is easier to mod. Yes, multiplayer, but modding is a key factor in popularity of San Andreas\

@Nitroxious

It is possible, just very hard. It's not like they will make it for GTA:IV or GTA:V. But it's more likely than VC or III.

The thing is that in GTA SA, they have a special in game menu, in GTA Vice City, and GTA 3, they don't have a menu like that...

You mean GUI? I'm pretty sure it is possible in GTA3 and VC

No, it isn't, Dutchy and Patrick once said that is a big problem.

For those who want some GTA III Dyom, without Engine features can try installing SA:LC Beta IV Mod over San Andreas installation.

Yeah but you won't feel the atmosphere of LC in SA's engine, personally I think LC is better portrayed in GTA 3 or LCS than in SA due to it's darkness...

It wouldn't be too hard, but it would be hard. However, since there isn't much known (compared to SA), we have to find out everything ourselves. Before we started DYOM, people (even other great coders) didn't think it was possible to make something like DYOM. So it would take years to make something like dyom for IV. It would be very very hard if there was a lot of documentation; since there isn't much documentation, it is nearly impossible and will cost lots and lots of time.

We did try to make DYOM for IV, we even had a bit of code (it was possible to create a marker and icons or an actor you have to kill ingame). But that already took a lot of time, so we didn't go further.

The last part sounds interesting Dutchy. I don't think that GTA IV Supports loading .dat files from external directory. Did it require any Alice Scripts or hacks? I bet that Memory Addresses were the hardest part.

Leave GTA IV,SA is good enough! Anyway If you want to make something in Liberty City or Vice City,use GTA SA:LC,GTA: United,GTA: San Vice...And if you want someone skin from Vice City or
III search for it from here.
