Sails go on a boat mate...
There was no 'news' really though was there....only the fanboy leg-humpers take it as that. It was another 'please buy MP3 because we arent going to break even' on the back of everyone's anticipation for V. Oh and youre only allowed to talk about crews as far as V goes on newswire because it relates to MP3.
One of the lamest periods in Rockstar's marketing history as I remember it
You sir are awesome, and a great post, glad that their are people that actually see it. This is really a sad time, remember the days of Vice City, and the summer of San Andreas 2004 when we got so many updates with the SA map with all the click and view things, that was the good ole days. It is not about the gamer anymore, it really is sad. I respect only developers that treat their fans with the up most respect and not take us for fools, bc they are taking some of you for good ole dummies for GTA
Wow the next tease will be, Hey GTA fans and Max Payne fans we have a new and exclusive look at a new game mode for Multiplayer, now carry over your MAX Payne points in team deathmatch to GTAV and use it to get some clothes in GTA. Use these XP points to purchase a new suit in GTAV. Oh its coming just wait. it is coming.
Also stay tuned to the newswire we will have further details about V in the "coming weeks"
Yes, R* definitely ain't got a clue on how to make good marketing, they just hire the best people out there and pay them very good money then invest millions in marketing cause they don't know what they are doing, but you, with your great experience and superb knowledge of marketing and advertising, you certainly can say that this is the "lamest period in Rockstar's marketing history". [/sarcasm]
Some people ain't got a clue about what marketing is and how it works.
I've been working in advertising and marketing at a top level for over 15 years.
R* is definitely among the best at marketing their games. It's a fact. The rest is just idiotic blabbering about things that people ignore completely.
Do you really think that with the production values that a title like MP3 has they need a phrase about V to boost sales?
These people are professionals. They have been in the business for decades. They don't just go around begging for sales by dropping a tidbit of news about another game. They work in a way that sales are planned and guaranteed by such a huge amount of factors that is far beyond your comprehension. The marketing strategy for a product, at a top level, is usually prepared years in advance.
The day they decided they were going to make a new Max Payne game they had already a dozen professionals working on the marketing to launch it.
MP3 is gonna be one of the top games in 2012.
It would be a hit with or without any news related to V.
The crew systems is something that it will be implemented in all future R* titles.
It's a Social Club feature and it sounds like something obviously very well thought and planned just like you would expect it from a top developer like R*.
GTA V marketing will hit the public at the right planned time and everyone will be swallowing it eagerly and forget completely about the time there were no news about the game. Then everybody that is complaining now will buy the game and finally stfu about things they deeply ignore.
