GTA VI: Houston and New Orleans

What? Are you kidding us? Say it isn’t so. How can you be thinking about a new GTA game when GTA V hasn’t even been released yet. “You must be out of your freaking mind”. You are definitely smoking some good herbs. GTA V! GTA V! GTA V!

Hold up wait a minute! Hear me out you guys, just hear me out. I just had an epiphany about this and I have a concept, purpose, and reason for this GTA game version after GTA V dies down. Now throughout GTA’s history the setting either has been on the East Coast or on the west coat, well what about the South? Yeah! Yeah! GTA:Vice City was the south right? No, Vice City was actually the hedonistic south, like the south you only experience in Florida. Vice City wasn’t the real interpretation of the Southern USA. Vice City was based off Miami for crying out loud and that is more of a beach city, a tourist magnet for sun worshippers and drug lords if they still exist there.

The real southern cities are Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Dallas, Birmingham, Memphis, Little Rock, and Jacksonville. That’s where you find amazing and diverse southern culture and subculture. The southern hip hop and rock music scene was bred off these cultures. When most of us think of the south eastern USA. We think of farms, chickens clucking, long narrow dirt roads, the southern accent, good food, hillbillies, plantations, country music, the civil rights movement, and much more.

Out of those 10 cities, I have selected two to play a major role in the release of GTA VI. I have Selected Houston, TX and New Orleans, LA to be the new combined setting for GTA VI.

Main Character:

Both cities have huge black & Hispanic populations. The inner city is would be the origins of the protagonist. It would be the “GHETTO”. Just like CJ Walker in GTA: San Andreas the main character would come from a tough environment where there aren’t too many options to make it in the world without putting up a good fight or joining a gang to survive. In this game, the protagonist would start out as a high school drop out, and then turned drug dealer selling drugs to keep clothes on his back and food in his mouth. He would be his own support system for the most part with assistant from his crewmembers. The user would be striving to make it in the rap game but he will have to do a lot of dirty work to make it to stardom. That would mean killing, stealing, and destroying people, property, and things to get there.

Overview

Houston,TX(According to Wikipedia):

Houston ( /ˈhjuːstən/) is the largest city in the state of Texas, and the fourth-largest city in the United States. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 2.44 million people within an area of 579 square miles (1,500 km2). Houston is the seat of Harris County and the economic center of Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown, which is the sixth-largest metropolitan area in the United States, with nearly 6 million people.
Houston, known as the Bayou City, founded in 1836 on land near the banks of Buffalo Bayou. It was incorporated as a city on June 5, 1837 and named after then-President of the Republic of Texas—former General Sam Houston—who had commanded at the Battle of San Jacinto, which took place 25 miles (40 km) east of where the city was established. The burgeoning port and railroad industry, combined with oil discovery in 1901, has induced continual surges in the city's population. In the mid-twentieth century, Houston became the home of the Texas Medical Center—the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions—and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.

Rated as a global city, Houston's economy has a broad industrial base in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation. It is also leading in health care sectors and building oilfield equipment; only New York City is home to more Fortune 500 headquarters. The Port of Houston ranks first in the United States in international waterborne tonnage handled and second in total cargo, tonnage handled. The city has a population from various ethnic and religious backgrounds and a large and growing international community. It is home to many cultural institutions and exhibits, which attract more than 7 million visitors a year to the Museum District. Houston has an active visual and performing arts scene in the Theater District and offers year-round resident companies in all major performing arts.

New Orleans, LA (According to Wikipedia):

New Orleans ( /njuː ˈɔrliənz/ or /ˈnjuː ɔrˈliːnz/, locally /nuː ˈɔrlənz/ or /ˈnɔrlənz/; French: La Nouvelle-Orléans [la nuvɛlɔʁleɑ̃] ( listen)) is a major United States port and the largest city and metropolitan area in the state of Louisiana. The New Orleans metropolitan area (New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner) has a population of 1,235,650 as of 2009, the 46th largest in the USA. The New Orleans – Metairie – Bogalusa combined statistical area has a population of 1,360,436 as of 2000. The city/parish alone has a population of 343,829 as of 2010.

The city is named after Philippe d'Orléans, Duke of Orléans, Regent of France, and is well known for its distinct French Creole architecture, as well as its cross cultural and multilingual heritage.New Orleans is also famous for its cuisine, music (particularly as the birthplace of jazz), and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras. The city is often referred to as the "most unique" in America.

New Orleans is located in southeastern Louisiana, straddling the Mississippi River. The boundaries of the city and Orleans Parish (French: paroisse d'Orléans) are coterminous. The city and parish bounded by the parishes of St. Tammany to the north, St. Bernard to the east, Plaquemines to the south and Jefferson to the south and west. Lake Pontchartrain, part of which is included in the city limits, lies to the north and Lake Borgne lies to the east.

What these two major southern cities can bring to the GTA series:

• Both Cities have NFL and NBA teams that are highly respected in their leagues as well as their regions. They are great cities that host sports in two world renown facilities.(Impact: Just think that in this new GTA series the player can go to a basketball or football game and bet on the game with a close friend or accomplice like Nikko Bellic had in GTA IV)
• They both have subcultures that include music, arts, entertainment, and nightlife.(Impact: The player can go to an array of nightclubs, venues, and places in both cities to meet new people, date, hangout, party, or even do various missions like in the Ballad of Gay Tony.)
• Both Cities are on the Gulf Coast of the USA with connections to the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America through their maritime ports.(Impact: During mission mode or freelance game play the player will be able to work at the docks, port, etc. and be able to make money from his/her labor. The player can also drive a marine vessel, boat, or Jet Ski. The player will be able to operate a forklift and freight crane during work mode. Missions will be fun because the player will go on missions where he will have to travel overseas in a storyline mode to an island in the West Indies or to a nearby Bayou land.)

What would be found in these cities to make them realistic and unique to play in:

Cars:

Donks(New Orleans Side): Hi-Risers are a type of highly customized automobile, typically an inexpensive American-built sedan modified by significantly increasing the ground clearance and adding large-diameter wheels with low-profile tires. Depending on the model and build year, autos customized in this manner can be labeled "donk," "box," or "bubble."
Hi-risers originally grew out of the Dirty South subculture, but the trend has spread across the United States. Vehicles customized in the hi-riser style are distinguished by their oversized (even disproportionate) wheels, ranging from 22 inches to 30 inches or more in diameter, as well as fanciful custom paint-jobs and expensive audio equipment. Suspension modifications similar to those employed on lifted pickup trucks are made to give adequate clearance for the large wheels. Often the suspension is modified so the front end sits slightly higher than the rear end, giving the car a swaggering appearance. Because of the exaggerated look gained from installing a lifted suspension and enormous wheels, donks are also known as "hi-risers" or "sky-scrapers.")

Slabs/Slab Party(Houston Side): A slab is just like a dunk car but more of a classical car, just think of a car that your grandparents would drive but it has been revamped into a customized “PIMP MY RIDE” type fo a car with a huge stereo stystem, glossy rims, and a neatly crafted interior. (PARTY) A common event in Houston, Texas sub culture USA. This popular phenomenon occurs almost anywhere in Houston with a big parking lot. It is commom to see many slabs poppin' trunk, 15's bangin, sittin low on gold D's wrapped up in Vogues. Slab parties are popular among the local rap scene and its fans in Houston. Slab parties might also be found in other parts of Texas and the south. For more information, please see slab.

Casinos:

(Casinos were only common in GTA:San Andreas in the city of Las Venturas. What you probably didn’t know is that they are now in the south in and around cities like Houston and New Orleans. The player can go and gamble his money away or make a big lotto fortune and buy himself a new safe house. Casinos will also feature missions).

Both Cities when you calculate their size are over 900+ square miles and with a combined population of 2,400,000+ residents. That is huge. They dwarf the city of Los Angeles. Their surrounding cityscapes are made up of grasslands and bayou. These parts in the game can be use for outdoor sports like hunting, fishing, camping, and even be a private retreat as in a safe house. Besides these two cities on the map, there would also be smaller cities, towns, and villages that would be the backdrop of the region for suburbanites and rural dwellers of the region that fit the southern culture. There would be low income and high-income neighborhoods of each city. Transportation will provided by a commuter rail linking both cities plus the towns and villages in between. Buses will also account for getting around the city. There would also be a freeway system that connects all the major centers and outskirts with one another making it easier for the player to drive around and site see. Just like in past GTA games there will be crime plagued neighborhoods that are unsafe and safe/neutral neighborhoods that are safe.

"CJ Walker"? You mean "Carl Johnson"

plus, the "rags-to-riches" & the "ghetto gangbanging" themes kinda seem like really overused cliches here
