My friend recently got GTAIV and so I started "playing" it again to do some online fun, only problem is that the game will randomly freeze, go black and I get the whole "GTAIV has stopped working" dialogue. If I remember correctly, this was why I stopped playing the game a few months ago.

My system is:
HIS ATI Radeon HD 6950 2gb 900core/1325mem clocks
AMD Athlon II X4 965 OC'd to 4.2Ghz
8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X RAM 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24
Rosewill 1000W modular PSU
Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit

I run the game with graphics maxed and morphological AA from ATI control center.

I have run CCleaner, installed latest game patch, GFWL, cleared the c:\users\name\appdata\local\rockstar games\gta iv\settings folder, run in XP(SP3) compatibility mode, and defragged.

I have the game through steam.

I'm completely at a loss at what to do, every other game I have runs perfectly with no problems other than EFLC.

Yesterday I got it to run for a bit over 2 hours straight with no problems, then I took a taxi and went to the restroom real quick and when I got back it had crashed... suicidal.gif

You can try using memrestrict, it can fix these timed crashes.

So reading your memrestrict forum, I have a 2gb graphics card. so I would do 2000*1024*1024 which equals 2465792000, then I put in -memrestrict 2465792000 into the launch options?

Also I don't have a CD for GTAIV, I downloaded off of steam. I have really slow internet(768k) and it takes about 3-5 days to download, so I don't really want to have to re-install until every other option is exhausted.
