Hey peeps I just got into GTAIV modding after all these years with the beloved San Andreas.

My machine specs are

i7 2630QM 2.0GHZ
560GTX 3GB
12GB Ram

I modded my 1.0.4 steam version of GTAIV w/

Xliveless.dll
Simple Trainer

I wanna do some graphic mods after some research I see I may not be able to run Realizm mod with my steam version..bummer!

I also read about iechancer, but which version do I use?

Is it ok if i just use this without texture mods?

Will GTAIV better texture mod work for steam version?

I would say you should overclock your CPU. Because it's very much on the slow side. You might be able to get away with decent play if you turn down the view distance. The 560GTX might help power through slow spots.

I am unsure about Steam. I have no experience with it. If you're going to try an iCENHANCER version, try the latest 2.0 (which is the ENB ScreenShot Thread - linked in the Featured Mods Area) as it's the most streamlined version to date. It also has some new features and the tone-mapping and color / light usage is phenominal. There are of course, other packages out there as well. The first post of the ENB Screen thread has many, many ENB and iCENHANCER packages and some with previews for you to choose from.

Try one of the "Get Modding Running with this package from..." as well if you're having problems. Maybe that will help.

I ran ICEhancer V.20 a had no more than 15FPS on low ini settings and game looked like total crap.

Damn how in the hell are people able to run these max settings and still FRAPS smoothly????

What are they running monster 5GHZ beast rigs?

Actually, kinda, yeah, 5Ghz. I'm running a 3.0Ghz OC of a 2.4Ghz Q6600 quadcore. 4Gb's of DDR3 and a GTS450 1GB GPU. The other guys on the other hand, well, alot of them run insane 3.4Ghz i2500K's or insane overclocks with 580/590GTX's.

Guys like me, well, for what I show, it's mostly in 1440x900 for video. It's all about the FXAA/SMAA to get rid of jaggies really. I have a dedicated gaming PC. No antivirus, no antispyware, no other anything that isn't related directly to GTA IV or BF3. It's really streamlined. Other software like printers, MS Office and all kinds of other software really slow down Windows.

What are you PC specs? Sometimes, it's about optimization and you don't necessarily have to sit at 10FPS when with a few tweaks, a reinstall of Windows and a clear focus, you can be IV OCD too. lol.gif colgate.gif

Hope that helps a little colgate.gif blush.gif

Consider that not all pictures you see about ENB or icenhancer are taken at playable settings! Some may even complete fake. wink.gif

I use C2Q Q8200 @ 2.3GHz / PNY GTX460 1GB / 3.5GB RAM / Vista 32 >>> And thatīs the minimum specs I recommend for using either ENB or icenhancer if you want fun and good looking. 30-50FPS I get depending on the details of the settings.

Thatīs by far not a monster computer. Itīs already two years old except for the GFX card and the power supply.
Adjusting GTA IV with all itīs mods so that you get the maximum out of your system is the trick! The best system does not automatically lead to best results if youīre turning the wrong knobs.
I bet I can beat a better computer just because I have embedded my settings very very deeply and constantly. Itīs not a thing you can do within minutes.
Iīm modding this game for over two years now, playing since four years. A rocky road! smile.gif

GTA IV does need a strong CPU anyway, never heard about yours so far, Iīm unsure. GFX card is also important, working RAM plays a second role. 12 is by far enough. tounge.gif
The Q8200 is not really powerful but it seems that this CPU can handle this game pretty well in combination with a medium GFX card and medium RAM.

OK I did some testing
My game runs on max settings with ENB 82 beta on L3EVO's settings!
Game even runs better than stock copy.

ENB 82 beta

0082 is indeed the fastest or most optimated ENB version as far as I know. Please keep in mind that it is just BETA, take care your card is running well. Card corruption has been confirmed but is very very rare (old cards).

Iīm using 0082 as well, never ever got a problem, card stays under 80°C all the time. icon14.gif

The probability to get trouble related to patch/ENB combo is much higher when using patches newer than 1.0.4.0 (patch 4).
Sidenote: By using patches newer than 1.0.4.0 the resource usage is even higher with a stock game.
Using high settings with 1.0.7.0/1.0.6.0 will probably need much more resources than 1.0.4.0.

Wow 82 is running flawlessly on my machine!
And the game looks beautiful with increased FPS all around.
