what does Cry stand for?
is this still only for VC or did u expand it to the SA engine since? smile.gif

Cry stands for the Crymaria Game Engine, this was to continue the SOL project given at the time I did not think GTAIV would be on the PC.

This engine is still in development, almost 70% finished for another project I have been running now.

GTASOL is on the SA engine too now, but I am having a royal time fixing bugs. The lack of mapping or debug tools is slowing my progress to releasing this anytime soon.

To Admin/Mod, I know this is a bit of a Bump/Jump but I hope you will let this slide.

I am back on the modding front, but given the amount of time passed, I am wondering weather it is worth continuing on with this project.

There is a poll for the continuation of this project on the main site.

Should I call it a day and move on, or get stuck in and get this bi*ch done.

I have been tired with an Illness on a daily basis and still am, and I am not really modding or doing anything up till now, I have had a lot of other life issues to contend with given the credit crunch and this has not been a priority.

I was planning to continue this around the end of August, but given everyone has jumped on the GTAIV modding band-wagon, this project kind of seems pointless.

I did achieve what I set out to do from when I first started 3 years ago, and thats get all cities on one map, but I do feel bad for the lack of progress in the last year or so and nowhere now to host the mod files.

Lack of support for me means lack of interest, so I will start a poll.

Please goto the main SOL site. http://www.gtastateofliberty.com site for the poll in the VC section of the mod.

He is porting it over to SA. I realy think that you should keep on working on this mod when you have time. You have a great mod and Id hate to see it die. Id hate to see this die like Ghost Town Paradice. You have done lots of work and what you need to do is get a team to help. I could test the one for SA because I have a fast computer Im thinking that the game may not lag. Also Ive found a tool that will port SA DFF files to IV.

I have looked at the new vice city online (VC0)

I am considering just finishing the map, water level etc, and asking permission to see if their client will work with the mod.

Storylines and peds will come, but lets finalize the maps first and add all the other islands made for 50States.

BTW GTAIV modding hasn't really reached real mapping and mission coding yet, still taking baby steps.

3 possible reasons as most of the files in the install VC have to be replaced.

folders Data, Models, Txds. Mss have to be replaced totally.

1. Your using winrar to extract the 7zip file, use 7zip instead
2. Some files in VC are still read only, you have to remove read only from all the files first
3. Try running the Dev console first, then delete the GTAVC.exe, just run the GTA-SOL.exe instead.

Download this if the above fails. SOL.exe link

I need to know alittle more into why it is crashing for you..

Did you copy over your freshly installed VC, It has to be the original versions 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2, (both VICE_CITY_PLAY, VICE_CITY_INSTALL original disks)

If you have a warez copy of VC the mod will crash, and I do not support warez biggrin.gif

Been sometime since I last posted here;

There will be another version of SOL for VC only (Beta 52.0)

This will be the last version that will fix all that needs to be fixed and replace everything that I wanted to add to beta 51.

42 people posted on the poll I set from last year, about continuing on with the project and that is pretty sad, so given this lack of interest I have decided to end this project after Beta 52.

There is no point draggin this on.

Whats new for Beta 52.

1. Water everywhere.
2. Fixed maps.
3. New vehicles and SCM spawn locations added.
4. Textures tweaked in LC.
5. Finshed Mainland liberty at last, but as you drive around that island your get the feeling looking at some of the newer buildings, that I have lost interest in the project and maybe it is time to move on.

I have been unable to hack that part of the engine, problems spawning them outside the original limits, only spawn in some areas on the map.
