A small update:

Engine is nearly out! All I need to do is disconnect the gear selector rod, the speedo cable and the driveshafts, then I'll put it on the engine crane and remove the engine mounts.

I'm going to repaint the engine while it's out and generally clean it up, I hope to have it in the blue one in a couple of weeks. biggrin.gif

I found a reciept for a dyno tune the car had in 2007, the car had 90bhp at the flywheel then. The car has only done 4000 miles since then so it should still be making good power, I wanna get a Weber 40 carb for it eventually to top it off.

Is the 1275 still just single carbed? With what's done to it, it seems like it should be ready to have some fuel thrown at it. Dual webbers, son.

Tomorrow I'm going to touch up a few more bits, and repaint the alternator and the thermostat housing in silver.

I also cleaned up and heatwrapped my Maniflow LCB which will be fitted with the engine. smile.gif

I've also got a surprise on the way, I'll post pictures Monday if it arrives!

Oh and when I'm paid I shall get rid of that sh*tty yellow rocker cover for one of these:

That looks crazy impressive to me. Where did you guys pick up the skills to do this sort of stuff if I may ask?

Thanks dude. smile.gif This is the first time I've ever done a big job like this at home so it's been a learning experience, but the best way to pick up skills is through practice. Taking out the engine wasn't hard once I had the proper tools, and the hardest thing is to be neat and not lose nuts/bolts and stuff like that.

Added some more paint today:

Good work, I agree with Cursed: steal the front grille and headlamps from the older one (assuming the bonnet fits).

I would like to.. but the bonnets are different sadly. sad.gif

Plus I'd need to swap the bumpers because the bumper on the yellow one houses the sidelights + indicators, and that's completely f*cked anyway, I'm missing both bumper corners and it's badly dented. tounge.gif

How many CC's is the engine? It looks like a motorcycle engine that was in an early 70's Honda (one of those little tiny subcompact ones that the U.S. thought were so dumb)

Might as well throw some paint at the old steel valve cover while you're waiting for the finned aluminum one.

Yeah man, tomorrow I'm gonna give it a quick rub down and spray paint it black. Gonna go it black as that's the only paint I've got haha, although I might have some spare Metro Henley blue paint somewhere though, it'd match the car then!

Just something to cover up the ugly yellow while you wait on your replacement to arrive. I

The lower one a resonator? I think it will sound pretty good. The header there on the right definitely isn't stock right?

The healthily modded 1275 with a decent exhaust should sound miles better than your old 998 with the magniflow.
