How to change spgangs weapon

hey guys
ok seriously i was pissed off doing side mission because those mafia and cartels have godly weapon and everytime they see me. they blow up my vehicle in beetween 3-5 seconds

please teach me how am i gonna change their current weapon.

what are the steps and requirements.

help me pls

You need to modify the main.scm file and change their default weapon. Or just modify weapon.dat and make their guns ineffectual.

You can modify main.scm using Sanny Builder 3 or Barton Waterduck's mission builder. The task requires you to have SCM knowledge and you need to start a new game after that. If you want an alternative way then download Weapon Stats Editor from GTA FileFront.com. Use it to open your weapon.dat file from GTAIII\DATA folder, modify it and save it.

I know a better way.Do every side mission you want before Sayonara Salaatore.Modding the main.scm and/or weapon.dat is modding.But if that's okay for you,then do what fireguy109 and Zedane said.

If it's for san andreas you can use cleo to
0237: set_gang 12 weapons_to 22 22 28

this sets the mafia's weapons to pistol and micro uzi

This is also possible in VC, but there is no mafia gang in that game right?
