I've recently got GTA SA for Mac form the Apple Store and I was wondering if I could mod it. It would be appreciated.

Actually it is possible, but some Windows-specific hacks like trainers may not work, and you'll have to use a 1.0 exe for the game to be modded.

Basically, if you dig down to /Applications/Grand Theft Auto San Andreas/Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/Rockstar Games/GTA San Andreas then the files are (mostly) the same as the PC version. Since modding tools are for Windows you'll have to run something like Parallels or Fusion with a Windows virtual machine to edit the files.

Like lpgunit said you need the older PC .exe file to mod San Andreas because of the whole Hot Coffee thing. (No such problem with the Mac versions of Vice City and GTA III.)

There is a patch available (that runs on Window of course) that downgrades gta_sa.exe so it can be modded and avoids the need to obtain the actual .exe. I haven't tried this on the .exe that's in the Mac version which may or may not be the same as a build this patcher works with.

Ugh, you're right. That sucks, no trainers is gonna be hard. I'll try and get around the problem. I'll use programs like Wine to run it. I am using the v1.01 .app/.exe. I'm sure someone out there will make modding apps for GTA SA for the OS X gamers.

IMG archives seem trivial enough, so I think a native OSX app for editing them can be done.

It's going very good with mods. CLEO 4, car and particle mods work fine. biggrin.gif Just not ENB series. Anyone know how to fix it? bored.gif

I found a ported version of SAMI for Mac. It works normally. Just put the path to GTA SA/Contents/Resources/transgaming/Rockstar Games/GTA San Andreas or something like that and just install.

LINK: SAMI and other stuff.

Yeah, you can mod Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas.

If you right click on the app, then click on "show package contents", it should have something to do with wineskin. GTA SA uses wineskin because it was originally made for windows, not mac. Wineskin allows windows apps to be used on mac.

Here's the video since i'm too lazy to tell you how to do it.

I'll be honest, sometimes SAMI won't open.. it wouldn't on my mac.

Here's another video..

Hey guys. Just downloaded SAMI and when I try to install a mod I keep getting this.

"San Andreas could not be detected. Please specify the directory where the game is installed"

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

ps. I cant manually find the directory using the browse button.
