Is asp.net language is better than php

According to you Is asp.net language is better than php. Which language is better for developing a CMS based website.

ASP.Net is proprietary and will only run on Windows server. That's less than 40% of servers out there. Of these, not all will support ASP.Net. PHP, on the other hand, is open source and cross-platform. It is supported by overwhelming majority of servers out there.

At this point, arguing about advantages and disadvantages of each language from technical point becomes purely academic. If you want to write something that will be deployable on most systems, PHP is the only way to go.

Also, ASP.Net is a framework rather than a language.
