QUOTE (Claude94 @ Saturday, Dec 10 2011, 15:16)
I thought it sounded more 80s to me. I've always loved 80s music, so maybe that's why I like it so much.

Who knows if that's the reason for its removal. But I do know that on Flashback FM, the DJ mentions being on the Duran Duran tour bus in a preview for the station shown on the game's official website. However, in the final game, for whatever reason, when she says "Duran Duran" the radio cuts out on purpose with some static for a second. I don't think they cans stick you with any copyright claims for just bringing up a name, though, can they?

Yeah or they just didn't want those names being mentioned in a game like GTA? And eh, yeah, late 80s early 90s. Honestly it sounds like something Carlton from the Fresh prince of bel air would dance to lol. I'm really glad R* released these tracks. They are so much fun to listen to outside the game. Even "Fade Away" by Craig Gray sounds so amazing and chill.

I dunno. I mean, they brought up Duran Duran during a Love Fist cutscene in Vice City. Maybe they just weren't sure at the time whether or not they could mention the names without getting stuck with any copyright claims.

Yeah, I'm also glad they released these. "Change" by Conor and Jay was always my favorite on Head Radio, and I'm really glad to finally hear the full version of "Wash Him Off," too. They should do this for the radio stations in GTA 2 ("Taxi Drivers Must Die," anyone?).

"Taxi Drivers must die" can be listened to (and bought) on the artist's MySpace website:

http://www.myspace.com/bulamatari

And Conor & Jay released their GTA songs for free on their website:

http://www.conorandjay.com/media.html

You'll notice that the free version of "Change" offered on the C&J website is about 30 seconds longer than the version offered by R* on iTunes.

You can also find free downloads of "Train" (featured on LCS HEAD Radio) and "Vegas Road" (another classic GTA2 tune) there!

I think I know why 'Wash Him Off', was cut from the game:

1. It was inconsistent with the current Lips 106 lineup (it sounded too 80s)

2. The phrase 'Scooby Doo' breaches copyright from Hanna Barbera. Maybe Rockstar didn't want to censor part of the song, so it was cut.

Scooby Doo? I thought it was "Scoopy-doop" or something.

Could be the case with "Klenex", though.

Great post. I find the April in Paris and Lucy most memorable.
