So i've noticed that i'm probably out of luck if i want a Codebreaker, AR Max, or Gameshark. Codebreaker goes for $200-300, AR Max doesn't work with slim PS2, and Gameshark just seems unavailable, and i've checked google shopping for everything. Is there any salvation for getting a working cheat device? I have GTA SA (the GTA trilogy).

Thanks, although there are 21 bad reviews (most of the reviews) saying that the disc scratches easily, and users get disc read errors a lot, and even when they get it to run, it locks up. $50 for used, $100 new.

Huh?

Codebreaker...got it at Gamestop for $19.95. Has all codes (including the stuff that EdisonCarter made) preloaded on the disc for every GTA.

ARmax (complete tin w/thumb drive)...cost about $35 from an independant game store. And it works just fine with my slim. Takes a few minutes to load added stored codes from the memory card, tho.

Gameshark...got it at Target for about $20.

Shop around. They aren't as scarce as you suggest.

wrong.!! stores don't sell them anymore, with the PS3 & the crappy xbox 360 around. And PS2 is basicly done for they dont make games anymore for it really, (well some games) you have to go to ebay or amazon to buy any of them.

Wrong, Action Replay Max works with my slim PS2.

Just buy a cheap, new ARMAX device from the company for a mere $24.99: http://us.codejunkie...__EF000306.aspx

@BabeRuth, the dude ain't kidding. Someone on Amazon is trying to sell 9.3 version codebreaker for $399.95. I guess it's because Pelican discontinued the product years ago. Behold: http://www.amazon.co...ASIN=B000FICUJQ

For anyone unsure what device to get, I recommend Action Replay Max as mentioned in an earlier post: http://us.codejunkie...__EF000306.aspx

the FUN thing about the market place.
If You don't like the price you keep on walkin'.

it's the sellers privilege to ask any price (s)he thinks the market will pay.

I wouldn't pay more than $5 for a codebreaker, even if it were indestructible to the extent that I could drop a 100lb dumbbell on it and the disc not so much as scratch.

Gameshark, I wouldn't take it for free, even if you payed me too. Everyone says it corrupts their game.

So, does anyone still use either? If so, please enlighten me why.

I still use ARMAX and it works fine with my slim ps2. Sometimes it can take a few attempts to boot, but that's always been the case, even with the original PS2.

The only downside to ARMAX is that you can't bruteforce some of the more unusual codes, wheras the older AR2, gameshark, and codebreaker didn't give a f*ck as there was no code varification. They either crashed the game or they didn't.

Pelican discontinued codebreaker, Gameshark went out of business (not sure how true that is though) and thus, Datel is alone in the cheat device business. Does this constitute a monopoly?

I like CodeBreakers & GameSharks alot more than ARMAX/Action Replays.

Gameshark and the pre-ARMAX action replay/AR2 were essentially the same thing but with different names.
