Most likely we wont be able to drive any trains. They might ridable trains, but none that you can actually drive.

hope there are drivable trains, that was ace on SA when you could drive them all over the city smile.gif , i still play SA on my 360. probably the best gta but i would have to say gta iv due to gameplay and graphics.

Why not, another mode of transport and you can get off anywhere you want unlike in gta 4 where you can only get off at a train station also its another feature in the game that will make it more fun!!

I would hope that GTA:V would feature rail services of some kind.

Real life L.A. has several services from what I can gather on Wikipedia.
  • Amtrak - Long distance regular railroad.
  • Metrolink - a commuter rail system which serves Los Angeles and the surroundng Area of Southern California. i.e. 'local' regular railroad.
  • Metro Rail - Is a rapid transit rail system which mainly serves Los Angeles County. i.e. a subway/light rail service.
Given that we presently understand the scope of GTA:V to be Los Santos and Southern California, it would make sense if they were to and omit Amtrak (Brown Streak) and feature the Metrolink and Metro Rail. But I wouldn't be surprised if they only put in one of those rail systems or were to merge both services into one parody.

If they're going to put in a landmark like Union Station (Unity Station) then it would be nice if it actually served a purpose. Plus I'd like to see the interior of Union Station this time. (Shame we couldn't go inside the iconic Grand Central (Great Easton) in GTA:IV)

Hopefully, we'll be able to move around the train as I understand we could in RDR and not be stuck in our seat as in GTA:IV.

As for being able to drive the trains, who knows.

I don't care if they don't add the ability to drive a train, but if they do it'll be a good addition.

I really hope they add a subway system inside the city and a trail line running across all cities and towns.

EDIT: and the ability to walk inside the train, not only press key to enter and then a pre-recorded movement makes the character seat.

I miss driving around San Andreas in the train, it was great. I liked going too fast and derailing it in the middle of traffic. It's too bad that it never blew up though.

I think it would be a good idea, and could be brought into a mission which possible requires you to control a train which you're on, but is going off the rails, because of a reason I cannot even think of. Could be a good idea.

I do hope so, one of my guilty pleasures in SA, although I hope they make the cinematic camera just an option instead of the exclusive default.

I don`t think this will be a feature in GTA V because the feature was only in one GTA game ( san andreas ) plus there was not much sign of trains in the trailer lol

V is going to be Los Santos and surrounding rural area, it isn't San Andreas. Trains would be ridiculous.

I don't see why we can't just drive everything that would be drivable IRL. Would be a lot more realistic and fun at the same time. As long as they physics don't get too complicated.

What are you talking about? GTA V takes place in Los Santos, which is IN San Andreas.

Metro Link Image

What's this for?

Well the first image is a schematic of the Metro Rail Subway/Light Rail system that serves Los Angeles.

The second is a map of the MetroLink railroad system.

Admittedly ZeeKid2k10 would have been better served by providing some words to go with his pics. But never mind, eh?

Don't worry, ZeeKid2k10. smile.gif

^^This.

Cockpit view is a must..

Also, I'd like point switches to change the tracks and cause collisions and derailments.

Trains have some much untapped potential in GTA. Imagine train driver missions, where you have to make stops to a timetable or hijacking the 5.02pm from downtown and terrorizing the commuters.

To top it off, I want to be able to drive in up that mountain and take in the scenery.
