Mine would have to be back during the giant snow back in January 1999, we were still living in Detroit at the time, we tried to watch the local news channels and instead of getting news from Detroit we got news from Los Angeles, thousands of miles away! The signal was really jumpy at times and one of those days we were trying to watch a Red Wings game on the tube and instead they were broadcasting an LA sports event! It was really crazy!

Had something similar?

Mine was on new years day 2000. We were all waiting to see if the Y2K was going to shut down all the electricity. This is in a suburb in north Dallas. We are watching the t.v. as the countdown occurs and about ten seconds after midnight the power goes out. We were saying holy sh*t they were right. We go outside and the street lights down a major street were out, which had never happened even in a blackout, and it looked as if we were back in the 1800s. We thought that this might have been happening everywhere and we were drunk and very wired. Ten minutes later the lights came back on. biggrin.gif

I was watching the Sopranos one time and towards the end of the episode the signal just cut out. I was SO PISSED off, I never got to find out what those onion rings were like.

I watched this crazy Japanese movie with the main character being a dude who'd shoot people in the head like it was the easiest thing in the world. Long story short i sat through 2 hrs of that clusterf*ck and the screen went black for 10 minutes right at the end. It cut back when his black friend was driving his car home crying about the jap guy.

My immediate reaction was more this bored.gif than this angry.gif though.

This one time someone turned my TV off!!!!!! :@

Thankfully I had a stick-thing attached to the remote, so I could turn it back on without getting up. Phew!

For about 2 hours the local Fox channel just kept running the same promo for the upcoming episode of Cops. No commercials or anything, just the same promo over and over again. "A small town pulls together when blah blah blah..." - I can almost still remember it. Even better was for those 2 hours they also just showed the same episode of Cops that they were promo'ing. It was a hilarious cycle.

One time comes to mind:

I was watching a football game on TV with my dad (can't remember who it was now, I think it was the England U21 team) anyway one of the England players had tackled the ball from another player and was running to the goal. The crowd was going wild, people were on the edge of their seats and then suddenly just when the player kicks the ball, an adverts suddenly comes on. Me and my dad were yelling at the TV and then when it went back to the match all of the England team were celebrating along with the crowds.

We missed the damn goal! All I can say is thank goodness for those replays they have during the match, we got to see the goal eventually. tounge.gif

Turned out it wasn't just us who had this happen, it made its way into the papers the next day as people around the country also missed out on seeing the goal and instead got to see a lousy hair dye advert.

I watched this live...

I know, someone probably will chime in with 9/11, but I wasn't awake for that. I live in California, and I like to sleep in.

I still remember back to watching pay / cable channels in jumpy negative black and white, due to the scrambling...of course, would hope for adult channels!

Satellite viewers got it soooooo good! hahaha
That's about the extent of strange experiences. When our parents got cable in the 1980s, the kept showing unlocked, unscrambled signals of premium channels, in an effort to get you to buy them, but the 'rents ditched pay TV because of that!

Sounds like Jesse Ventura here ^

If my memory serves me correctly, wasn't that during an England match at the 2010 World Cup? Thankfully I was watching the game in a dingy little Pub, where they'd never heard of HD. ITV HD cuts to an ad three minutes into Englands game against the USA.

Just remembered another one. Back in April 2010, I was getting ready to watch the Detroit Tigers. So I put on Fox Sports Detroit, then suddenly it became Fox Sports Wisconsin! It was showing some fishing show, then the beginning of a Milwaukee Bucks basketball game, then the cable company knew about it and it went back to the Tigers game!

UPDATE: Now I have a new one (that is still ongoing as of right now), I am watching an episode of Powerpuff Girls on the Boomerang channel, suddenly the signal acted up! notify.gif It began with a black screen during the intro and is now skipping audio and pixelated scenes!

I know I'm double posting, something similar occurs in the Dexter's Laboratory episode "911" where his favorite show gets interrupted by an "Emergency Broadcast Signal"!

It litterally happened right now and is happening. I'm watching The Sweetest Thing and the Penis song comes on and I'm like WTF. It was so random as I was not expecting it.

This sounds like a good story, when did you get f*cked by a transsexual?

I know I'm bumping a one-and-a-half-year-old topic that I created, but I just found about a new situation similar to what AlexGTAGamer mentioned on the first page:

Last night, during game four of the Stanley Cup Finals between Chicago and Boston, KXAN, an NBC affiliate in Texas, was broadcasting the game, which was tied 5-5 and there was 10:12 left in overtime. Suddenly, at that exact moment, it cut to a promo for their 4:30 AM newscast, followed by a commercial for a Kia dealership named "Capitol Kia" and then another commercial, this one for an organization for Texas veterans named "VLB", then it went back to the game, by then, the Chicago Blackhawks were celebrating their game-winning goal, which tied the series 2-2.

Anyways, since I don't live in Texas, I never heard about this incident before it came on at the end of "Special Report" on the Fox News Channel.

Craziest thing for me happened back in 2000 , i was sitting next to the window watching tv when i heard the sound of a helicopter hovering nearby , so i checked out , and suddenly i see this huge black Apache infront of me and inside it was the pilot and some little army toys holding guns put as doorgunners , so i was like wtf is going on , it took me some time to realise that they were shooting a Black Hawk Down scene ...

Add another case of commercials suddenly appearing during shows:

This happened just after 11:15 PM local time last night, as I was about to sleep, but I left the TV on, which was playing "Masterchef", but suddenly, not long after a scheduled commercial break, the local Fox affiliate suddenly cut to it's own inserted break, which began wit a weather quiz-related promo, then a Cool-Aid ad, then an energy-saving-related promo, then a Maaco ad, then a brief health promo, then it went straight back to the show!

The weirder part though, during the next scheduled break, in the local-insert portion of it, THE EXACT SAME five commercials played! dontgetit.gif

Two separate times, exactly 2 years apart from each other, During ad break they played 5 Magic Jack commercials in a row.

This one isn't too crazy but notable: I first heard Radioactive Imagine Dragons on Music Choice On Demand about a month before it was playing literally everywhere.
