Anyone here had the NBN rollout in their area? |
Nope, heard we're getting ours at the end of 2014 or early 2015.
The TV advertisements make it sound so good but it will be so sh*t.
A bit like a snuggle, really.

Canberra is a truly reprehensible place. It's down there with Adelaide. |
That's it I'm moving! How dare you put Adelaide on the same level as Canberra.

We end up hating our Prime Minister. No matter who the hell we vote for, it seems like people fall in love with them during the election, but as soon as they get elected people just automatically "hate the government, man. our country is so f*cked up".
It's sort of like... yeah, we have our issues, but what a terrible country we live in... maybe we should take lessons from places like America? England? or ANY other country?

The problem with Australia is that you have far too many ill informed voters that construct their vote on absolute bullsh*t, instead of looking at the actual policies of the respective parties. As I said earlier, I'm not a fan of Gillard, but the media has crucified her beyond belief over the last few years. It doesn't help that much of the media is owned by news limited either, who inevitably lean towards the right. I've been watching Sky News for a fair amount of the day, and when you have f-wits like Paul Murray and Michael Kroger who immediately put a negative spin on every single Labor event, you know something is wrong.

What a twat.
I love that fact that she uses the word 'elected'. She was never elected! She's been put in office and also taken out of office without any kind of vote by the public.
Stupid woman.
[EDIT] gtamann, I think he's talking about that "rugby" thingy.

Also "I have attended 27 funerals for [lost servicemen]"
She's talking herself up a bit.
Rudd will set her straight with his address hopefully.

Glad Gillard is finally out.
Did the blues win? I'm not into footy, but I know many guys at work will be talking about it tomorrow. I should at least know who won.

Yeah mate, she was elected, remember that election we had in 2010? The independents may have had the final say, but the two-party-preferred vote went Labor's way with her at the helm, so, yeah, she was actually elected.
This will mean nothing practically, though, as any boost this will give to the ALP will fizzle out soon. There is absolutely no way the Liberals will lose this election, and I will parade around with a sig of Kevin Rudd for six months if they do.

I dunno man, a lot of people like Kevin Rudd, especially people <22 who don't really take part in opinion polls/haven't had the chance to vote yet.

Boom!
Liberals plan for that is stupid as f*ck anyway, they're still going with an NBN but it's going to be like 20MBITS and it's only fiber to the node, rather than to the premise, which is cheaper short term, but long term they're going to have to upgrade cables to the premise anyway, which is going to mean more money spent over a longer period of time redigging up streets everywhere.
Do it once, do it properly, pretty basic principle really.
