"Still shaken the bush, boss."       Edit.  (hmm...you guys might be too young to know what that's from)

I was away from home for most of last week so couldn't do much searching.

Found a store from Grapeseed last night.  Will post it after work today.

Things are getting hard to find though.

^^ Thanks DJ Insanity, but the Hotel Figueroa building was identified when the gameplay trailer came out last July.

Here's that Grapeseed find.

Real life.  KSSP Photographic Studio, 330 Central Ave, Filmore, CA.

In game.  Grocery store, Grapeseed Main St, Grapeseed.

Hey guys, I'm going to LA, specifically Santa Monica in a few weeks. Anything you want me to look for?

@ ddyoung.   Enjoy your trip, mate.

See if you can spot the IRL building that these 3 are based on.

Judging by the in-game locations, it should be somewhere in the Santa Monica area.

It's been bugging me for months.  Thought we would've found it by now.

Oh, and if you get the chance, can you take a day trip out to the Salton Sea & take a picture of every house & shop in Desert Shores, Bombay Beach & Salton City?  Cheers.   :^:  :^:  :^:

I've noticed no-one's added the train station finds that koeklin found and Wayne Kerr brought up again from the last page. Can someone do that?

@ Fido.  Thanks for adding the last houses.   :cookie:  :cookie:  :cookie:

It wasn't me messing around with the map.  I haven't added anything since the Grapeseed store.

@ ddyoung.  I'm pretty sure those three IG buildings are based on a single RL building.

If you spot it, you'll have sooooo much time to spare that you'll easily get to the Salton Sea.

We're counting on you man, don't get soft on us.

Possible find.

I personally think this is too much of a coincidence for Rockstar to include a group of chairs, a BBQ & a large umbrella in a random vacant lot.  Plus the Caddy spawns there too.

It's not really a "proper find", but it might be worth putting on the map anyway.  What do you guys think?

Real life.  Party/BBQ lot, corner of Avenue H & 1st St, Bombay Beach, CA.

In game.  Party/BBQ lot, corner of Algonquin Blvd & Armadillo Ave, Sandy Shores.

This is what it looks like from above.  It's probably the neatest, most organised thing in Bombay Beach.

I say lets add it for the fun of it !

Besides, it's close enough like you said ;)

So it was MrThingus who was adding the pics at the same time as me. Weird since we haven't seen him in a long time.

Does koeklin have admin access ?

In terms of the Vanilla Unicorn strip club, gta wiki says it's based on this strip club in Inglewood, which (Like the Vanilla Unicorn) is right next to a highway. I'm not sure if it is the club, but there are simularities:

Also, I've been trying to find this building at the Los Santos Port:

DC614A77379B41E50BEEAE05439C37ACE530E961

So, when trying to find the LS Port building, I found this collection of buildings that look very similar to the one I'm looking for:

With this building looking the closest to the one i'm looking for:

Do you guys think we should add the rollercoaster and ferris wheel at the santa monica pier individually on the map?

Harry, there are a couple more of those triangular storage buildings along Alameda St. in Long Beach.

Although they're all similar, none of them match the IG building exactly, so it's really hard to decide which one is the best match.

I try to put together some pics of them all later on today.  We can then vote on the best match.  It's probably the only way to decide.

The GTA Wiki page is stretching things a bit with their Vanilla Unicorn building.

Like you said, it has a couple of minor similarities, but doesn't really look like it at all.

We know the Vanilla Unicorn name is based on the Spearmint Rhinoceros in Sth LA, but that building doesn't match either.

It's a bit of a mystery.

Also, there is a duplicate of the Vanilla Unicorn behind Pitchers in Vinewood.

I'll try to put the rollercoaster & ferris wheel on the map later today.

About the triangular buildings: Sounds like a good plan! Can't wait. I'm thinking it's based on one (I'm not talking about the one I mentioned, i'm refering to all of them) of the collection of buildings in the LA port, because of the similar locations.

About the Vanilla Unicorn: Yeah, looking at the building, it does seem a bit of a strech. I think the user who added it picked it because of its similar location. (right next to a highway)

Looking through the beach, I found this pier:

Which seems to be based on this:

LugSD9y.png

Because the pier doesn't have an address, the location of this pier is here.

@ harryhenry.

I had a good look at the triangular storage buildings.

Most of them have vertical ends (like a Toblerone chocolate bar) instead of an angled/sloping end like the IG building.

It's hard to say which one is the best match.  The IG building looks fairly old, so maybe the IRL one has since been demolished, like the coke storage tanks.

I've added The Leviathan Roller-coaster & The Ferris Whale to the map.

While I was getting the IRL pictures, I noticed the vendor's tents under the roller-coaster, so have included them as well.

Also, I think I've found this building:

5FB3AD671DA6B98ECC44244FBC7C961E85BC8DB1

It might be this one:

No worries, I'll do the pier/breakwater wall later on today.  Forgot to take pics of it yesterday.   :/

The California Pizza Kitchen is very close.

It has the same overall shape & basic features, but I'm not so sure it's a match.

I'll have a good look at it on street-view later on.

I think the features we need to look for are the spacings on those 4 upper windows, the Romanesque columns & that little circular window.

Those features appear on all 3 of the IG buildings, so I reckon they'll be on the IRL one as well.

I actually found that building a while ago (The round awning-thingy above the windows reminded me of the building in the game), but then I just recently remembered you saying you were having a hard time finding the building, so I decided to post it.

Also, have you thought of finding the real-life versions of buildings in North Yankton?

^^ I had a good look at the building on street-view.

I don't think it's a match, but it's definitely close in some aspects.

In the game, it's located twice in Del Perro & once in Morningwood, so we can probably assume that IRL it's somewhere between Santa Monica & Westwood.

Unfortunately, I think we need to keep looking.

Regarding North Yankton, we found the church at the cemetery.  #1063619686

It's been modified, but it's probably the 4th IG church to be based on the United Methodist Church in Piru.

There was a Mapping North Yankton thread a while ago, & I'm pretty sure they found the picture theatre & another couple of buildings.

I think we've got our hands full with LS at the moment.

Have you tried finding the unidentified homes in Davis?

Lmao...oh yeah.  I've tried.

These are just the streets I've searched in Watts & Compton.

Ra2xsxa.png

I've done a few sections around the Leimert Park & Crenshaw areas, but still haven't found anything.

I really thought I would've found at least 2 or 3 of the Davis homes by now.

There are hundreds of possibles, but nothing that you could call a definite match.

Lots of other IG houses have a real life match, so I don't see why the Davis homes wouldn't either.

I think it's definitely worth having a go, if you feel up to it.

I got sick of searching for them a few weeks ago, but I'm sure I'll get the urge to do it again.  (but not yet)

Edit.

@ ddyoung  Here you go.

2 & 3 have slightly different colours but are placed next to each other in the game.

Not sure if they are supposed to be one single building or two.

When are you heading off to the Salton Sea Santa Monica?

WOW that's a lot of streets searched!

First: I commend you for searching through all those streets. I don't think even I would have the patience to go through all of those!

Second: I'm not suprised you got sick of searching for those houses.

Third, (This is off-topic), but have you added the "Vote For Nobody" Graffiti?
