Coach_wargo.  I wish we knew the real life locations as well as the in-game ones.  We would finally get our lives back again.

Here are a couple more finds leftover from the weekend.

There are 3 or 4 of these apartments in Koreatown that could be considered a match.  This one is probably the closest match, so I'll use it on the map.

Real life.  108 South Edgemont St, Koreatown, Los Angeles.

In game.  Residence, Palomino Ave, Little Seoul.

vxo0Wr8.png

zXNR7Da.jpg

Probably only 90% sure of this one.  Both plazas have the angled section at one end, but the in-game plaza has a more Asian inspire curve on the roof.

I couldn't find any other plazas in Koreatown that had the angled end, so it's probably safe to say this is the one.

Real life.  Gold Plaza, 1111 South Vermont Ave, Koreatown, Los Angeles.

In game.  Korean Plaza, Calais Ave, Little Seoul.  (reversed)

Nice Wayny !

I'm pretty sure the plaza is the correct one. Too many similarities.

How about this :

IRL : 9884 S Santa Monica Blvd, Beverly Hills (couldn't find a better pic but a few details are similar and it's at the exact same place ingame and IRL)

Ingame : S Del Perro Blvd, Rockford Hills

31E1344F486D8AFCE79F176072AFF12A94921766

IRL : 1000 Cory Ave, West Hollywood (again, same location and a few details matching, notably the balconies)

Ingame : Spanish Avenue, West Vinewood

46017841CB1380B4B2431232DE40B244D4B01514

IRL : Hollywood Western subway station, Hollywood Blvd & Western Ave, Hollywood, CA

Ingame : Del Perro Subway Station, Marathon Ave & Prosperity St, Del Perro, CA

Wow.   Well spotted.   :cookie:  :cookie:  :cookie:

Peering at windows through the bushes.  You've obviously channelled your inner stalker/pedophile.

I'm very, very impressed, but a little creeped out too.   :panic:

Edit.

I had a look at the first one in street-view.  It's definitely the right one.

There are lots of matching details, but like you said, very hard to capture them in one image.

@Wayne, Fido, Ixr & some others - Awesome work guys/gals,

I've been lurking for long and also advertising this thread elsewhere as a must see!...

If you didn't watched this before, I strongly recommend you to, though you've already found many of the irl places mentioned at the film, there's lot of ig npcs there (imo) and some US, CA last 60y story to be learnt and teachead ;)

I might have found what this gas station in Morningwood is supposed to be (I could be wrong, though):

It's this: (Address from google street view in the top left)

I'm pretty sure most of the gas stations in the game are random. The only ones of significance are the two towards the northwestern part of the city.

@ EramVerdes

Thanks for posting the link.

If I get the time in the next few days, I'll watch the whole thing.  I've only seen short snippets here & there before.

Google street-view is very poor or non-existant around the Salton Sea, so these films are very useful to spot potential matches.  Fingers crossed.

@ Harryhenry & Sting4S

Some of those gas stations are very tricky.

We've found a few matches for the unique looking ones, but it's very hard to match some of the generic ones.

There are so many IRL gas stations that look similar to each other, so it's very hard to be sure.

New finds.

#1 is a direct copy.  #2 has a different rock texture.  #3 has a different rock texture & awnings.

Real life.  Cherokee Plaza, 6674 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles.

In game 1.  Echo Rock Plaza, Hawick Ave & Alta St, Vinewood.  (Echo Rock Financial Services, Talon Scout Nails, Molar Flair Dentist, Walk Of Fame shoe repairs, Dollar Pills, Bite, 24/7 Supermarket)

In game 2.  Unnamed Plaza, Occupation Ave & Las Lagunas Blvd, Vinewood.  (Cash Advance Loans, Nail Bar & Spa, LS Office Supplies, Shoe Repair, Empty store)

In game 3.  Vespucci Mall, S Rockford Dr & Palomino Ave, Vespucci.  (Binco, Vespucci Blooms Florist, Shore Feet Shoe Repairs, Paper Clip Stationary Supplies, Italia Nails Salon, Fleeca Bank)

@IanE55: Wait a minute... did you just make your first post here and find THREE inner city bridges?!? Wow! I even think you may have even found a fourth one, got to check...

@Harryhenry: Yeah, the obelisk... It's a bit of a fine line, I think we had considered it to be part of the observatory, but of course, you're right. The same probably goes for the park, as long as we don't add each individual lamp post.

@IanE55:

I find the Capital Blvd / Santa Ana Fwy bridge very convincing (mostly because of the smaller underpasses on both ends), I'd say it's a match.

The Olympic Fwy / Santa Monica Fwy bridge is definitely plausible (also in terms of location), but I'm still not 100% convinced.

But I fail to see how the Innocence Blvd / E 26th St bridge is a match... maybe there's a better angle that shows more similarities?

The fourth one I thought of would be the train bridge in these two images. I'm far from certain though.

ECC9Tp6.jpg

113994-L.jpg

However, I *am* certain about a fifth one:

4AuqMpV.jpg

rLqsMO9.jpg

@Harryhenry:

That "Sign In" button is there so that we (Fido, Wayne, MrThingus and me, IIRC) can actually edit the map. I'm pretty sure we've added all your finds... but in case something is missing, let us know!

I agree with lxr, the first two are exact matches but the third one seems wrong to me. I don't see any kind of resemblance.

@lxr : Good eye on that small rail bridge. Definitely the correct one.

I also found three railroad bridges over the river that could match the one seen in Ian third screenshot :

Next to Bolero Lane, Los Angeles, CA

South-West of the corner of E Washington Blvd and Soto St

South of Shull St

Yep, I was really uncertain about the Innocence Blvd Bridge. Really tough one to find.

Another possibility could be the Washington Blvd Bridge, just a few blocks north of the East 26th Street Bridge.

Does anyone remember the RL location of this one? On the map, it just says "Crenshaw Blvd".

And no, it's not trivial to just find it again... Crenshaw Blvd is almost 50 kilometers long!  :/

EDIT: And whoever figures it out... there's a duplicate in Harmony:

You're living my dream.  Great photos mate.   :^:  :^:  :^:

@ IanE55

Great work on the bridges.

I agree with Fido & lxr though.  I don't think the 3rd bridge is a match either, but the 2nd one is a definite match & the 1st one is a strong possibility.

@ lxr

I can't remember if we ever found the Taco Farmer store.

It'll be a good one to find because, like you said, there's a duplicate in Harmony, but also a run-down version in Sandy Shores.

Also, has anyone in this thread been to Los Angeles? I have, though it was VERY brief. We were heading to florida, and we were at LA as a break on our airport trip.

Ok, I've been trying to find a subway station that looks like these two:

The closest one I've found is this one (Union Station at 334-440 East Ceaser E Chavez Ave, Los Angeles):

Harryhenry, your Santa Monica Pier signs are on the map now.   ;)

Regarding the rail stations, koeklin found this one a while back.  It's on the Crenshaw Green Line in Hawthorne.

Looks like the same station has been used multiple times in the game.

CxCX65a.png

Check out E Washington Blvd though.  There are a few stations along there.

Maybe there are a couple of different IG versions you could spot.

Great finds.   :cookie:  :cookie:  :cookie:

I didn't even know there was a building under the pier.

Just had a quick look at the in game rail stations.  There's only 4 of them & they're all basically the same, so don't bother looking for the IRL ones.

Seems like koeklin got them all in one go.

About spending time in LA.  I was in the US 18 years ago.

Drove over 13,000km (8,500miles) in less than 3 weeks.  Oh, and I got married while I was there.

Here's a quick rundown of my trip.

Landed at LAX, drove to Las Vegas NV, then Kingman AZ the first day.

Saw the Grand Canyon, then drove to Albuquerque & Santa Fe NM day 2

Through to Clinton OK the 3rd day.

Day 4, drove through Texas to Baton Rouge LA to meet a judge for the wedding.

Drove through bits of Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas for 2 or 3 days, then back to Louisiana.

Got married in New Orleans, chilled for a couple of days, then drove straight back to LA in 2 days.

Spent a couple of days at Disneyland.  Got bored there, so drove up to San Francisco for the night.

Back down to San Diego & Tijuana the next day, then flew home.

Apart from a few streets around Anaheim, I saw absolutely nothing in LA.

This is basically what I saw for 18 days.

ET8H9Ep.jpg

Things would be different if I went back there now.

I live in LA and now I know what natives feel like when tourists come to your city and do the whole "ooh! ahh! look at that!" routine. You all have my sympathy.

That being said I've lived here for 20 years and have been to every landmark, street corner, restaurant, beach, surrounding city, forest--you name it--that this game has intricately translated into Los Santos.
