Looks good to me!  :^:

Regarding Tinsel Towers: Nothing so far, not even a candidate. Could be a smaller-size version of Sierra (Eclipse) Towers, but that's not entirely convincing either.

Another oversight: The gas station west of Sandy Shores (the one from the trailers) has a duplicate further east, at the intersection of E Joshua Rd and Seaview Rd.

Has anyone figured out what the Tinsel Towers are supposed to be yet?

Nope. This building is still a mystery.

I added some dots to the map around Backlot City.

Not new finds per se but just some buildings inside the studios that have IRL counterparts :

Office Building at Solomon Richards studios

roddenberry Building, Paramount Studios

Blue Sky Tank

Annex building at Richards Solomon Studios

Gower entrance at Paramount Studios

Stage 19-20-21 at Solomon Richards Studios (with the globe landmark)

Stage 19-20-21 at Paramount Studios (with the globe landmark!)

Also, the backlot with the mediterranean city is the equivalent of New York Street backlot at Paramount.

and there's also the water tower obviously but I don't have pics yet.

Sorry for the double post but I think I finally found that building near the Studios, the one I mentionned a few days ago that was a combination of two buildings.

I think it's a building in Century City (well two actually cause they're twin buildings). They are on each side of Avenue of the Stars, on the northern part of the street.

Both buildings have a fountain identical to the ingame building.

I'll take pics this afternoon but i'm pretty sure. Although the cladding is completely different but everything matches (location, fountain, plaza-like around the building, and the bridge over Avenue of the Stars just besides).

EDIT : So, here are the pics :

Hey lxr, is that you who's adding all those unidentified buildings on the map ? I've been doing something similar today.

I've added pictures of the ones I added myself and completed some of yours as well.

This should be very useful to find new matches once all the unidentified ones have a picture attached.

Great job !

Yes. And likewise, great job!

It looks like there are almost 2,000 buildings in total. I don't think we have to strive for absolute completeness, some must be very hard to find (all the small houses in Rancho for example)... but who knows, Wayne found buildings in East LS that I thought weren't even worth looking at. Also, usually, if you find one, there may be more matches nearby.

Yeah it will be great once the unidentified buildings are viewable by everyone.

That way everyone can contribute.

Hey guys, back early from my trip down the coast, but might have to head back down later in the week.

I'll try to get some more searching done in the meantime though.

@ Harryhenry

Nice find on the Up & Atom Burger store.

@ Fido

Judging by the bridge, fountain & access road, I think the Century City building is a match too.

It would be great to find the building that matches the cladding as well.

Nice finds on the Chumash houses.

I think the 2nd house is a match also.  The surround around the garage opening plus the details on the roof etc, it's gotta be.

@ lxr

I had a good laugh when you said the Rehab Centre & Chumash houses must've been the hard ones to find.

Not sure if Fido had a hard time finding the Chumash houses, but the Rehab Centre was one of the easiest finds so far.

I was actually trying to find something in the Joshua Tree National Park when a picture of the Malibu Rehab Centre popped up in the search results.

It was pure dumb luck.

EDIT.

Great find on the Fruit Machine building.

We're on a roll.  2000 buildings?  We'll do it easy.

New find.

IRL: 850 Echo Park Avenue, Echo Park, Los Angeles

https://www.google.n...AdGC61fj2gQ!2e0

In Game: Lady Rae´s Apartments, Bridge Street, Mirror Park, Los SantosBridgeStEastVinewood-GTAV.jpg

Edit: The building to the rigth on the in-game picture seems like it´s based on the building to the left in real life. The fence is the only thing that differs. I checked in-game, and I´m pretty sure that this is also a find. I´ll check around this area for more finds. Could anyone take a snapmatic photo of the house to the right, as there is something wrong with my PN account.

That's a beautiful find Mr.Killa.  It's a perfect match.   :^:  :^:  :^:

Does the in-game sign have a name on it?

Edit.  I haven't got access to the PS3 atm, so can't help you out with any Snapmatics.

That 2nd house does look like a match though.  Great stuff.

Is it as good as this one though?

I present......a toilet!!!

There are lots of these scattered about the Joshua Tree National Park.

Park Blvd or Loop Rd Joshua Tree National Park is the approx address.

Okay, everyone can now switch between all, all identified and all unidentified landmarks.

IMPORTANT: The menu has moved. It can now be found right next to the "About" button. This way it stays visible even if the list of landmarks is hidden.

That's a real tough one.
There's a good chance it's a match, but just as good chance it's not.
If the in-game had a more prominent central column, then I'd say yes.
I think I'll go & sit on that fence again.

Mr.Killa.

Good call on the Echo Park house.

Here are the comparisons, minus the in-game fence.

This is just a duplicate building in Vinewood.  It has also been used in Mirror Park, coincidentally right behind the apartment building Mr.Killa found yesterday.

Real life.  "A" Quality Furniture, 1012 N Alvarado St, Los Angeles.

In game 1.  Aladdin's Cave Furniture, Mirror Park Blvd, Mirror Park.

In game 2.  Glitterari + Butch + Mano a Mano, Clinton Ave, Vinewood.

Good find, Wayne. Your have probably noticed, but the building to the left of the furniture store is also duplicated, also left to the furniture store duplicate. I´ve tried to find that building on Sunset Boulevard and other ares in Echo Park and Silver Lake. Didn´t find anything. Also, seems like most of the buildings on Clinton Avenue (Or the "shady" part of Vinewood) are duplicates of other buildings. Interesting.

And how did you remove the fence?

@ Mr.Killa

These two?

YmUGetL.jpg

ls5uQC8.jpg

It's a very distinctive looking building, I'm surprised nobody has spotted it yet.

Yeah, that shady part of Vinewood is full of duplicates like you said.

The ones we've found so far have come from very different areas of LA.

Pitchers was from Sth LA, the gem store you found & another building were from the Fashion District, there's one from Echo Park & another from Hollywood Blvd.

It makes them harder to spot when they are scattered around real life LA.

Regarding the missing fence, there's no special trick.  You simply smash it down with your vehicle.

Quite often there's a lamp-post, dumpster or traffic signal in the way too, so I try to clear them out as well.

They sometimes disappear once they've been knocked down.

If you have a look at some of my pics, you'll often see a broken pole laying down in the fore-ground.

@ Pokemon4ever

Cheers mate.  Great pics.   :^:

I'll stick them on the map later today.

EDIT

Pretty sure house #2 is also duplicated 2 or 3 more times in the game.

I think it appears on Nth Rockford Dr in Richman & a couple more times in Vinewood Hills.

@ Fido

Excellent.  Just like the Vespucci Canals, there are more houses in Mirror Park than first thought.

I thinks there's about 70 if you include the new homes near the estate that's under construction in East Mirror Park.

Isn't it fun deleting the Snapmatic photos?    :/

I think I might have found the Up-N-Atom Burger that's next to the Tour Building in GTA V:

It's exactly what i wrote in november 2012 on a french Forum after the release of the artwork "Stop and Frisk".  ;)

I can't believe you identified the Up & Atom store from that artwork.  Wow.

Did you post it on the US Forums at the time?

Also, it wasn't on the interactive map.  Do you know of any other finds that aren't on the map?

Yeah that´s the one. It sure is distinctive looking, that´s why I thought I would find it fast, when the apartment building was found by accident, and there are a lot of apartents in that area that look kinda similar to it. I was actually searching for the 2405 House, as it has a distinctive, Vicctorian-esqe archtitecture. No find, though. It also kinda got boring, as a lot of the buildings in Echo Park and Silver Lake look almost the same.

Also, now I feel dumb for not knowing about driving the fence down. I tried puching it

@ MrKilla.

Lmao just thinking about you trying to punch down that fence.  Classic.

@ Fido.

Was looking at the unidentified Mirror Park shops & houses you put on the map.

I think I might've already found these 3 back when I was searching the Echo Park area.

Obviously they weren't put on the map back then & I can't find the posts or any photos etc.

Don't know what happened, maybe I just forgot to post them.   :sui:

qET93eV.jpg

kRsDzCK.jpg

VcbZjSA.jpg

I'm pretty sure the first one is on Sunset Blvd & might be a combination of 2 real life buildings, but I can't remember what street the last 2 are from.

From memory, I think the last 2 are sort of joined together, just like in the game.

I'll go back into that area & see if I can spot them again.  It'll either take 5 minutes or 5 hours.

Edit.

@ koeklin

I'm just wondering how many other similar looking water towers might exist along the train lines.

Are you confident that the Dos Cabezas water tower is the right one?

If so, I'll put it on the map.

Excellent stuff.  Thanks Fido.

It gets a bit tedious after a while, but I think it's worth doing though.

The "unidentified" feature is working really well.  If we find something new, all we have to do is add the address & IRL photo & it automatically flicks over to the "identified" map.

I've already taken pics of the Sth Los Santos houses & shops, but they're on my PC thats getting repaired.

It should be back soon & hopefully the pics are still on the hard-drive, so don't worry about doing that area.

If the pics have been lost, I'll go back in & re-photograph that area.  That's my punishment for not backing up my files.   :miranda:

I've still got images of all the Sandy Shores, Grapeseed & Paleto Bay houses & shops, so I'll stick them on the map over the next few days.

Btw, I re-found (if that's a word) those buildings from Mirror Park plus another bonus one.

That came from simply looking at the unidentified map.  It helps to jog your memory & focus your attention a bit.

I'm currently putting together the pictures & will post them soon, but in the meantime, what do you think of this?

P5F3IKF.jpg

J6v0RRS.jpg

The in-game brick wall is a bit more rustic than the real life one, but I've had a pretty good search of the roads in the Joshua Tree National Park & that's the only sealed road I could find that has that distinctive loop.

It's Salton View Rd in the JTNP if you want to check it out.  You can just make out the Salton Sea in the background.

EDIT.

The actual road is called Keys View Rd.  I think Salton View Rd is just the loop bit.

It seems to be called both names, so I'm not 100% sure.

Here's the co-ordinates & satellite image if anyone wants to have a look.
