I'll spread these buildings over a few posts, as there will be too many images for a single post.

All of the real life buildings are side by side on South Anderson St, Los Angeles.  In the game, they are side by side on Popular St, La Mesa.

The real life Philip Senegram Co building has been replaced by an unnamed warehouse from Mesquit St (up 5 or 6 posts).  The name on the building has been transferred to the loft apartments building, & is now called McGrory Furniture.

Building 1.

631 South Anderson St, Los Angeles.

It's amazing how efficient you are at finding things. Great work on finding this one in particular.

Cheers mate.

That's probably because I need to get a new life.

Seriously though, one of my daughters had a group of friends over for the weekend.

They took over the PS3 to play Singstar.  There wasn't much else to do, so I hid myself in the study & spent some time on streetview to get away from the noise.  My ears are still bleeding.

That particular building was the easy one.  It's a bit Art Deco in its design, which made it very easy to spot amongst all the other normal looking warehouses.

Wow, it's pretty cool how Rockstar basically recreated that whole section of Anderson Street.

Wow ! very cool stuff Wayny !

About the renaming thing, I plead guilty.

I thought it would be better to have all the landmarks east of the river to be grouper as East LS.

It simplifies things a bit I think but we can totally put La Mesa or Cypress Flats if you think it's better.

Great finds people! I didn't post in this topic since a long time. Can't believe how the "Mapping Los Santos" part of this topic's title is useless now...

You guys are amazing! How you have the patience to comb through LA to find buildings is beyond me... I remember When this thread started. It has been one of my favourites for two years. Amazing to see how far its come. Well done everyone.

@ Boxmonster.

It was quite a surprise to see Rockstar use 5 or 6 buildings in a row from real life.

They normally mix them up with a few different buildings from a few different suburbs.

It certainly makes things easier for us though.

@ Fido.

Guilty as charged.  No Gran Turismo 6 for a week.

Nice finds.  Can't believe nobody had found the Eclipse Lounge until now.  It's basically an exact copy.

No worries about renaming the locations on the map.  It actually makes things easier.

There have been a few times when I took a Snapmatic photo of a building in say Rancho, but the information in the photo said La Mesa, because I was standing on the other side of road.

It was a pain to go back into the game to make sure you had the area name correct.  It's easier to use the main names like East Los Santos, rather than La Mesa, Cypress Flats or Murrieta Heights etc.

@ lxr.

What's the Official Manual app?  I've never heard of it.

I'm just using the ingame map & the Snapmatic information, which are both a bit vague at times.

Edit.  Got the manual app now.  I though it was just for training Chop & customising cars etc.

The map helps with neighbourhoods, but would be great if it had street names & sub-neighbourhoods.

Got lucky & found this after about 30 seconds.  Wish they were all that easy.

I picked a spot on Google maps, went into street-view, scrolled down the road for a couple hundred metres & there it was.

Real life.  Antiquarian Traders at 4851 South Alameda St, Vernon.

In game.  Maibatsu Motors Inc. on Supply St, East Los Santos.

The one thing that I can be sure about with all these buildings being so close to real life. R* must have an amazing photograph record of the LA area and these small towns.
Even the dustbin is the same with this last one.

Absolutely.  I read an article a few months ago that said the R* recon group took a couple hundred thousand images & thousands of hours of video & interviews.  That's staggering.

I have probably taken about 4 or 5 thousand streetview images, & I'm struggling to keep track of where I've been & what I've taken photos of.

Edit.  Just added up the images I've taken while searching for warehouses & factories in the last 5 days.

There's 33 folders with over 1200 photos, & I've only covered a fraction of the area that R* did.

It could literally take us a year or two if we wanted to find all of the in-game buildings.

It absolutely shows. You can clearly tell Rockstar put their heart and soul into making Los Santos be as close to Los Angeles as possible, on the limited space of the PS3 and Xbox 360. What amazes me the most is that they've taken insignificant coffee shops and retail and put them in the game. It's not something you necessarily notice during gameplay but on the grand scale of things it impacts everything on a level unseen before.

I'm not afraid to say that GTA V's Los Santos is probably my favorite video game city of all time, based just on how meticulously it is crafted.

Agreed Mr T.

Meticulous is probably the best word for it.

The game definitely has it's faults & shortcomings, but attention to detail in the game world is not one of them.

Some of the large plants & factories in the game are made up from different buildings IRL.

The Piswasser Brewery uses designs from 3 or 4.

It makes things a bit tricky, especially when a single real life facility is used for two separate in-game factories.

Real life.  Owens- Illinois Glass Containers (Plant #23) at 2901 Fruitland Ave, Vernon.

In game.  Vitreous Glass Masters Plant #1 on the right.  Piswasser Plant on the left.  El Rancho Blvd, East Los Santos. (Cypress Flats)

Edit.  Both sides are the Vitreous Glass factory.

In the game, there is a Piswasser sign on the left hand building that through me off.  It's probably a R* mistake/oversight, as there are other indicators that show the left hand building is part of the glass factory.

I feel like I'm always posting the same sentence but I'm truly impressed guys !

Finding such obscure industrial buildings is such an awesome feat !

And kudos to the one person (forgot who he was) who called it on PABCO Paper back in 2012 ! Eagle eye !!

Fido.

I was hesitant to look for the warehouses & factories at first, probably because I thought they would all look the same.

Like I said in an earlier post, most of them are different to each other & quite often have some sort of distinguishing features.

The area to search is quite large, but so are the buildings we're trying to find, so you tend to get through a street or area very quickly.

It's been surprisingly rewarding.  You should turn off GT 6 & get in here too.

Not a new find.  Just a duplicate warehouse.

I've flipped the real life image again, just so the comparisons look better.

Edit.  Forgot to put the address in.

Real life.  Warehouse at 400 (approx) Mesquit St, Los Angeles.

In game.  Unnamed warehouse on Capital Blvd, East Los Santos.  (La Mesa)

Things are starting to dry up in the Vernon area.  Looks like I'll have to expand the search area a bit more.

Here's a possible.  Once again, there are some obvious similarities but also some differences that leave a doubt.

The overall shape of the building plus the steel gantries that protrude onto the sidewalk.  (I personally haven't seen them anywhere else, but there could be other buildings that have them)

The textures & colours are totally different though.

What do you guys think?  Yay or nay?
