So I went around Portola Drive writing down the ingame names for the buildings when I noticed something.
The "Dalique" building is actually Judith Lieber and "Winfrey Castiglione" is actually Lalique. The building next to Dalique is "Helga Kreppsohle" but there isn't a building that looks like that on Rodeo Drive.

Beverly Hills - Beverly Hills Triangle Medical Plaza (Portola Trinity Medical Center), erroneously identified as 9033 Wilshire.
Beverly Hills - Porsche Design (Santo Capra)
Also, Westime (Quincy Biro)

You're right, the church in North Yankton is most probably inspired by the real life church in Piru CA.
The spire has obviously been modified & the gables have been altered a bit too.
So the Piru church can be found in at least 4 locations. North Yankton, Route 68, Paleto Bay and a mirrored version at the cemetery in Pacific Bluffs.

Any idea about the mountain influences? I'm fairly confident Mt Josiah is based off Mt Whitney, as it was named after Josiah Whitney, No idea about Chiliad or Gordo though. Seems very unlikely that Chiliad is based off Mt Diablo again, as they bear no resemblance and Diablo is on Central/Northern California.

Leimert Park, West 43rd Place (in front of Leimert Plaza Park): Zeb's Quality Cleaners
Next to Vision Theatre in L.A. (not in LS)...
And it's also another building close to Crenshaw Blvd...

Hey I found what the lighthouse is based on, well actually the lighthouse keeper's house which happens to be a lighthouse with the light removed
I still think the lighthouse tower is loosely based on the Pigeon Point Lighthouse.

Anyboy found the Staples Center yet? or USC?
Neither are in the game. What do you mean by yet?
OK. It would be cool to take pics by the statues at the Staples Center with your character.

Hey guys !
Great great work with all the buildings you found these past weeks.
Rest assured that all your findings have been added to the Interactive map.
I will start to be more active again cause I have almost completed the game at 100% completion.
I want to apologize to all the people who invited me to join online sessions. I haven't played GTA Online yet as I want to complete the game completely first.
But that should be done by the end of next week and I'm on vacation the week after that so plenty of online gaming ahead !
I hope I can join many of you guys and that we can start identifying building live from the game !!!

I'm thinking that somebody should make a thread showing all of the real life counterparts buildings in GTA V. That way everything would be organized better.

Even though you have to find the right spot on the map, this doesn't really relate to the mapping thread, but the thread needs to be bumped every now & then, plus I enjoyed trying to find the exact locations for some of those "tricky" screenshots, so I thought I would re-create a few more.
It's gonna take me forever to finish the game properly
Most of the locations are not hard to find, but they can be very difficult to re-create exactly.
I couldn't get the yellow Sabre shot quite right, even though I had the highway to myself after using the Cletus hunting glitch. The foreground had to be compromised in order to get the background angles right etc.
Interestingly, the silos were purposely hidden in the official screenshot, but are clearly visible in the game.
The purple Sabre was a piece of cake, just had to get the car mods right.

Hey guys !
I just read the article about our mapping project on Eurogamer !
I believe most of you must have read it already but it is a really great piece.
A big thank you to Craig Owens, the writer and to all of you who answered his questions.
The article is below :
Also, I was contacted by another game journalist so another article should be online soon at this adress :

This house has caused me a lot of grief & frustration, & cost me a lot of time since the game came out. It is one of the homes located on the highway in Chumash, so I spent countless hours trying to find it in real life Malibu.
I noticed it was duplicated a couple times in Rockford Hills, so I basically gave up looking for it. Finding well known buildings & landmarks is hard enough, but trying to find an individual house amongst tens of thousands of others is almost impossible.
I stumbled upon it by chance today while looking for something else in the West Hollywood hills. It was one of those eureka moments.
Real life. 1614 Sunset Plaza Drive in West Hollywood.
In game. Once in Chumash. 3 times in the Vinewood Hills.
