Where's the scale based on?

SA is 6 by 6 km, the rest follows from that.

Here's one square km in IV and V:

there are native american peoples names on this map , each of these peoples occupied a specific area in california

  • tataviam ( Santa Clara River, the Santa Susana Mountains, and the Sierra Pelona Mountains)
  • tongva ( Los Angeles Basin and the Southern Channel Islands)
  • Chumash( Malibu, Lompoc, Ojai, Pismo Beach, Point Mugu, Port Hueneme, Piru, Lake Castaic, Saticoy, and Simi Valley.)

Maybe it can be useful to identify  some part of the map (Zancudo, Paleto...)

Still looks like dozens of hidden location to explore and small lakes. That Tongva valley and river looks interesting and never been shown in screenshots. Also I am hoping this is in the map, it near rockstartrestlecloseupsm.jpg

I am little disappointed in the desert size thought, i hope it larger once were in the game.

Okay then. In scale to SA, IV, and RDR.

1uYcYu5.jpg

Where's the scale based on?

The GTAV map has a scale printed in the lower left corner. The scale of GTA San Andreas was confirmed by Rockstar in 2005. The scale of GTA IV can be measured precisely with trainers on the PC version, and the scale of RDR is tested against in-game distance travelled stats which measure Marston's movement to the hundredth of a foot at the start of the game.

Nice work, mappers, very impressive to get it pretty much perfectly. Where were you in the days of exploration, when you could have actually profited wildly off your talents? 1776-na-french.jpg

SA is 6 by 6 km, the rest follows from that.

Maybe this 6x6 km statement was not true at all? You guys denied that RDR is twice as big as SA was and that info was as legit as 6x6 SA map. Somebody ever tried measure San Andreas? Like that comparison between tennis courts from IV and V. If I remember correctly there was a tennis court in SA.

We were in the days of exploration, too. But we knew we'd get there... ;)

6 by 6 is not a statement, it's a measurement. Same for the size of GTA IV. These are well-known facts. No mods would work if you couldn't very precisely measure in-game distances.

Looks like there are no Rail Stations otherwise they'd have been marked. Only Light Rail going around the city. The Freight line around the country is just that I believe.

But then again, Union Station could still be in the game since the Metro Red, Purple, and Gold lines stop there as well as commuter rail.

I'm fairly certain Paleto is Lone Pine, California.

I'm fully impressed how close the map is to the real thing. I dont know how you did it since any little mistake could've thrown off the entire shape but it is nearly identical!

That "RDR twice as big as SA" business was from a non-English interview with translation problems at least and making stuff up at worse. There's no other reliable source for that claim. And it's provably wrong. There's absolutely no way to reconcile the in-game distance-travelled stats with an area that big.  If you count all the inaccessible boundary terrain in RDR there's about as much land as GTAV but only 6 square miles of it is fully developed and accessible.

The size of GTASA is very confirmable with in-game distance travelled stats and the internal coordinates used in modding. A top-down map was rendered at 1-meter-per-pixel here: http://ian-albert.co...n_andreas_maps/

Griffith Observatory = Galileo Observatory

Getty Center = Kurtz Center

Terminal Island = Elysian Island

Echo Park = Mirror Park

I sort of get the Mirror Park/Galileo Observatory but not the other.

Umm, I make my living making maps? I'm a Human Geographer. These are fictional maps using orientation techniques. They are type like you use at the zoo or amusement parks made with art programs and not made with mapping software like GIS programs (Geography information Systems)

We could make a list of real-life landmarks that appear in both SA and V and compare any fictional names that are the same or have changed since SA.
