Groovestreet:

Some other references

The screenshot you enhanced & provided a few days ago has provided lots of things to pinpoint.   :^:  :cookie:

I think it is Franklin's house.  There is an"F" on the mini-map.

The IGN mission may have been from later in the game (Trevor was involved as well) when Franklin has moved out of the hood.

Franklin may have lived there at the start of the game though.

Edit.  Here's the mini-map.

Yes you absolutly right and i missed the tiny minimap. They also said every character has his own story and social bindings. And the story around Franklin seems to start in da hood.

Remember this from November 2nd 2011.  A lot of us thought it was CJ.

I think somebody may have spoted the location of the "CJ alley" a while ago, but we didn't have much to go on until now.  Even the courtyard palm tree is visible (just).

That is a village west of Grapeseed on the southern flank of Mount Chiliad. The mountain you see in the background is Mount Josiah.

What do you think the sq mileage is for the whole map? Remember, there is NO unplayable area like RDR. A scottish article just recently said it's 49 sq miles but it could be more.

So... how long does it take to drive all around the map? I don't think we've tried to calculate that yet.

Lets say that means to make a full circle on the outermost highways, at a constant speed of 100 mph (= 161 kmh).

*If* the map is 9.6 by 12 km (= 44.5 sq mi, close to Magic Al's estimate, see here and here), and *if* zombie elvis' highway layout is correct (it's slightly speculative for most parts of the map), and *if* my method of measurement is not too retarded (a string of 277 circles with 100 m diameter, ignoring on- and off-ramps), then...

... it takes about 10 minutes and 20 seconds ;)

Yeah and this is the mission what the IGN HandsOn Gamer are played.

"I hear Lamar shout from across the street – he’s found a way out. I follow him down a narrow alley that separates two of the slovenly houses, and instantly the thick claustrophobia of the Grove Street shootout dissipates. The world opens up again. The houses back onto the Los Santos storm drain – a vast man-made river carved out of concrete. We run down towards the water. Bizarrely there are a group of girls in colourful bikinis dancing for a film crew in front of three jet skis. Is this a TV advertisement? A music video? Porn? I have no time to find out – there’s a police helicopter humming overhead. I push one of the girls out of the way and steal her jet ski. Trevor, Lamar, and I head for open waters – I guess Chop ran home – but we can’t escape. The helicopter’s still on our tail.".... damn 8 days and 18hours...

@ lxr

Can you believe the "CJ alley" was from 685 days ago?

Finally identified with 8 days to go.  Cutting it a bit fine.

I'm pretty sure somebody may have circled the spot on the blueprint map 2 or 3 months ago, but it couldn't be confirmed.  I had a good look but couldn't find the post.

@ Ignaz

8 days 5 mins for me.  :^:

Yeah, amazing!

Bonus question though: What's the highrise in the background?

With the release just around the corner I just wanted to say, you guys have done an amazing job, your talents and determination are an inspiration.

I hope you enjoy the game as much as you have enjoyed (I assume) uncovering the map! :)

I'm seriously baffled at how much these news outlet butcher the data they present. IIRC, the Sun said driving around the entire map would take a good hour. It's sh*t like this that gives people like _Kindled_ more fuel for their ignorance. Great post though!

Thanks! However... lets assume you stick even closer to the coast, taking a few of the smaller roads. That would make your total route about 30 km. And lets say you ride a bike, at 30 kmh. There you have your one hour ride ;)
