Here comes the boom.

Trevor drives north as we drop in on him, right? Nope.

Map is more like real life IMO, like this:

Could be, but I still think the Alamo Sea is located higher than Los Santos. Which, following your interpretation could mean that a city modeled after San Diego (Los Puerta) is located south of the Alamo Sea.

Map is gonna be more geographically accurate, like this (no science, just quick chop keep palmeto or whatever it is up north - franklin's skydivedoes point to it being there), with more north of LS, and the sea southeast of it:
Take this image, and try science to build this, is it impossible or possible? Wait to say impossible until you actually try and exhaust the options please.
I truly don't know, i just cant see them being so retarded that they put something north when in reality it is south east.
user posted image

They are NOT trying to recreate the true map of SoCal. It doesn't matter where the Salton Sea is located in SoCal because the Alamo Sea is located to the north of Los Santos.

Do we really need to explain it over and over again that the maps in this thread are NOT wrong?

Since you are such a genius, please explain us why we can see Mt. Alamo/Chiliad in the background of screenshots of Los Santos facing north? If you don't know how to use a compass, don't come in this thread to claim the map is somehow wrong.

the map so far looks spot on to me. Everything we have seen in from the screens line up on the map.
Hills, lakes, roads can be plotted as each screen shows at least 2 or 3 main points. these can then be found in the next screen
and so on. The blue print map helps to show a road layout - leaving from the city - and creates the shape of the bottom part of the map.

The gameplay trailer only helped confirm these locations by showing clips of the HUD and the North / South orientation.

You have to remember that with the high draw distance each screen shot shows much more than in past games - this also makes it much easier
to put that area on the map.

I have followed this thread and cant find anything wrong with the maps - and yes I know we may not have seen the far East or any islands. But what we have seen
has been mapped very well.

Hmmm the minimap when Michael arrives in his house puzzles is indeed weird.
But that's probably a mistake or a glitch because we know that North is the other way around.
Every minimap except this one are coherent with the current maps.

By the way, is there a zip file somewhere with every frame for the gameplay trailer ?
We had those for all the other trailers but what about that last one ?

No, most of the mountain names are speculation/placeholders for now.

No, we aren't sure about the names. All we know is that one mountain is called Chiliad and another Josiah. For me that is the reason to also always use the names Alamo (north of the Alamo Sea) and Zancudo (the mountain west of the Alamo Sea).

No Fido, everything is ok.

Brian just doesn't know how to line up streets correctly and has Michaels house rotated the wrong way, which was spotted just after he posted it.

It would be caused by the camera in relation to the way it's facing in the overhead, compared to the direction the character that you are going to is facing compared to the overhead camera.

AKA, camera pans over North top of screen to a character facing east, it will have the minimap facing a different direction compared to the top down view - because that isn't the way our character is facing.

I completely agree. I just re-watched the switching again (frame by frame) and the the mini map is absolutely pointing into the correct direction even when it has switched to Michael. The N points towards Richman. Michael's arrow is pointing somewhat towards the east which is correct too.

Edit:

@gracz209

It is not smaller than we think. It looks smaller because of the top down view. If you have ever flown you will know that everything looks much smaller if seen from the air and all those screenshots are from higher up making everything seem smaller.

It is a small possibility untill we get the official map, I am not going to argue about that.
Its also a possibility that tomorrow the world will end and we might never get to see the full map smile.gif

I do not think that is the sea in the vinewood top part, in fact, I highly doubt it, considering what I've seen looking over this. That is distance fog playing tricks on your eyes:

It is likley impossible for that to be the sea, just by comparing the two pictures, those are not the same mountains imo.
user posted image

Not unless that's east, and it's not. I really don't think the sea is north.

But moving on, what are the UNKNOWNS right now? Lemme take a look at something that is a mystery, let's get back on track, if there is any weight to the north needing changing the east needing more land, I'm sure someone will find it. I could be totally wrong, I know. I just don't see them being so retarded they put the sea north when it's not there in real life. Everything else is all where it goes, but not that.

Sure, the world could end tomorrow but the location of the Alamo Sea to the north is absolutely correct. Some people seem to get confused once they see a mini map/compass. Unfortunately these type of posts are posted once every so many pages so some of us have to explain all over again as to why the landmarks are where they are. What is not likely to be correct is the scale of certain areas and some roads may be drawn wrongly by a few degrees or so but you can only estimate so much with just screenshots.

If you dont trust those screens let me show others... there are literally dozens of them that "confirm" it.

Multiple pages of multiple screenshots from multiple people disagree with you.

Please, have you even read even some of the thread?

Starting to think you're just trolling to fill in time until it releases.

In regards to the mountain names:
-Chiliad and Josiah are the names of the two main mountains
-Chiliad is the tallest mountain (and point) in the whole game
-Mt Alamo is the forum name for the mountain north of the Alamo sea
-Mt Zancudo is the name given to the mountain west of the Alamo sea
-Mt Alamo is taller than Mt Zancudo
-Therefore Mt Alamo = Mt Chiliad
-And Mt Zancudo = Mt Josiah.
