Does it bother anyone else, even slightly, that every map is an island even if it's based on a place that isn't an island? Like the actual GTA maps...always islands. Not that it's game stopping for me but it ruins immersion when I think about it.

No.
Invisible walls / impassable mountains would ruin it further.

And please, don't even start with the "infinite desert" thingie anymore...

Infinite desert thingy? I never said anything about that so how could I continue? It's not a big deal I just wanted to know if it bothered anyone else.

Nope. It's the only way that makes sense in my opinion.

I think that LS and the north are one side - so north to south is the shortest distance - But east to west is the Largest distance.

So the map would be like the pages of a book layout - east on one side and west on the other page.

That's why we get LS all the way to the North to fit on the blueprint map length wise but it does not wit width wise - the rest of the map is east
Like the normal pages of a road map book.
Example (not a great one - but gets the point across) http://www.maplogic....ts/avatlas.html

After reading all the pages from this post I can honestly say thats wishful thinking, theres no evidence as far as I know supporting that.

I'm wondering if anyone on here would like to devise a gang turf map and post it on my topics wall then we will discuss it and try to pinpoint franklins hood from what we've seen on trailers and screens?

http://www.gtaforums...howtopic=534144 that's my topic just sayin cause I haven't seen anyone do this yet.. Any takers??! Doesn't have to be accurate just a foundation to start on and improve in time would be much appreciated!!!

I think this is a pretty accurate idea of what the map's shape and size will be.

Is that an island in the north west corner?

who knows maybe the pinned up map is just of the alamo sea and that 'island' is the base of one of the mountains?

Possibly.

I've edited it slightly due to a mistake and further speculation:

It seems clear now that when they said 5x RDR or whatever they meant 2x RDR with the other 3 making up interiors and the ocean floor.

Everybody is putting Los Santos at the very bottom of their maps. Have we seen anything to the south of los santos?

I don't want to open a new topic for this since it is probably already discussed somewhere (and i'm a lazy bastard) but is this GTAV?

It was always 5 INCLUDING the ocean, 3.5 just for land, which I think it's still right if you only take the explorable part of RDR's map.

But if the dark area is landmass, then it's offset in your speculation.
You should move the dark area to the right quite alot.

Then it could actually make some sense.

That's the only thing that doesn't add up. I tried to fit everything together using the borders as reference. We don't even know if the borders of the blueprint are accurate.

Here is another version I made ignoring the borders.

I actually think your correct - but I wanted to put my idea across.

I think we will simply get a full size map on one side and a close up of the city on the other.

Its the only way all the city streets will be big enough to see or the map would have to be huge.

Welcome to the Mapping Los Santos thread

The goal of this thread is to identify buildings and landmarks of Los Angeles recreated within the world of GTA V.
Many buildings around Los Santos and its countryside have a real life counterpart in Los Angeles and Southern California.
Analysing carefully the various screenshots and trailers, our aim is to understand the geography of Los Santos,
and ultimately, trying to recreate the game map !

Anyone may contribute to this thread.

Terrible video. Just random screenshots, and random maps. There was one single moment when the IV and V map were put together, but nothing to prove it. Why would you build a video around a single image of a map comparison? There are plenty of good estimates in this thread. Also, you're probably new but it's really a waste of space to quote such a big post (the OP, for god's sake) with such irrelevant information.

It's the LS forum, not the coliseum, other than that, awesome job!

I think it's a mixture of both. It has the arches all the way around like the Forum, but it is oval shaped like the Coliseum, whereas the Forum is perfectly circular.

Whoa! I did one with every frame but not full size.

It's difficult to match perfectly because even at the most zoomed out, there's still noticable perspective, so the reservoir will be closer and move a bit faster than the city streets below it.

Fido, your map is very nice, but too small I think. Real map will be bigger. Just see, in your map I can place just 2 RDR, it should be at least 3,5.

Airstrip? Hello?

Way to small (compared to the highway) to be an airstrip. Also, why would it curve? This white structure was discussed a lot when the blueprint map just got released, and alot of people thought it was somekind of outer city resort or casino. There were quite a few real life CA buildings that resembled the topdown shape and were located in the hills/desert/countryside.
Just a thought, but maybe it could be the power station (?) seen briefly before the diving scene in the gameplay trailer.
