Bottom left I can see those satellite dishes. That's the Alamo sea there and los Santos in the distance on her front right

So what do you think she is standing on?

The map above, my opinion, she would be standing on the huge mountain looking out over sandy shores (can sort of see it in the haze there) and she is facing at the question mark area.

This is exactly how the map has to be... the Los Santos map has North pointing upwards, and the Bay City/Malibu town area up north is on the same odd angle like this.

And my post on the previous page confirms this orientation also, so I believe the top of the map looks more like this than the previous flat/horizontal left to right depictions.

The more I look back at other screens now, the more it makes sense too. This has 100% got to be the correct orientation of the Alamo Sea etc... the in-game GPS doesn't lie.

This is very interesting LotusRIP, great job. It looks like the countryside and with it the map as whole, will be bigger than estimated.

This looks right, and it makes the map look even bigger, nice work, cannot wait to climb that mountain

I didn't make the map guys just quoted it from a few pages back, I think the orientation is spot on though. I swear jbte or somebody once had a similar idea for the map to be like this.

Ok, cool. I cant make out Sandy Shores(even though its certainly there) but watching it back and forth I do see what looks like a big tower just to the Right of the Satellite dishes. Also there is an island or a peninsula above and slightly to the right of the Sat Dishes.

I'm honestly thinking that our current map orientation is wrong. The object locations relative to each other are right but the directional/horizontal orientation is substantial off with the vast majority of the landmass going west, rather than east, essentially the west coast of LS keeps on going NW mimicking the real life Southern Cali.

user posted image

For instance, in the ^ picture the peak of Mt. Alamo is offset to the left of the Bank Tower (the screen is facing N), seeing we know Mt. Alamo compromise the majority of the NE shore of the Alamo sea, One can conclude the sea is more western than depicted on our maps, essentially making the Alamo see directly N of the city (not NE) with it's E and W shores almost parallel with the E and W extremes of Los Santos.

user posted image

In this image (the rear end of Alamo) would essentially be the most northern point, with the camera looking towards the East towards the river/bridge entrance and Mt. Zancudo further west. If we look at the first picture we can see the distance between the peak of Zancudo is significantly west of Alamo. I'd put money that the fast majority of Zancudo lies west of the leaked LS map with Grapevine being directly behind LS's NW mountains and in front of Zancudo.

I'll draw up a map in a few minutes to let people know what I'm on about

Does anyone have a general idea of where this shot is? There is a body of water by her knee, but I cant really picture where all these mountains are.

Edit: Its obviously pointing east or west. After looking at it besides the map posted above, perhaps she is on top of the Giant Mountain facing west to the sunset.

It's the Alamo Sea seen from north to a southern direction (south or southwest), you can see the satellite dishes in the lower left corner of the image

@iTz i Makez HD: I would say so yes. Just look at where the sun is going down. It has to be to the left on the image and right in front of the direction she is looking at.

Of course. But she is looking to the south-western part of the map so the sun is going down. She is overlooking the Lake from the northeastern part of the map.

@TillSMC: Both of you could be right. Los Santos is huge and reaches from the part "iTz i Makez HD" to yours.

I disagree.

I think the majority of the landmass goes West.

That would explain the desert region that we've briefly seen.

It's actually very accurate.

I think she is heading to Los Santos, so this might be the whole map (a bit more of it on the left side of the pic).

also the mountain we've seen in the gameplay trailer (franklin parachuting over it - Mt. Alamo) is not the biggest mountain of the game - Mt. Chiliad has been confirmed as the biggest mountian as well as highest spot of the whole game world - we've yet to see Mt. Chiliad in motion (though I think trailer 1 was showing mt. chiliad, hiking scene)

I think Bay City needs to be rotated a little, it can't be facing dead north when in the parachuting clip, when heading straight into the town, north is not straight ahead...

To check/verify if these calculations are close to "correct", there are at least 2 options: 1 being the tennis scene (if there is a way to messure the tennis field size correctly), 2 being the golf scene with the "168/169 yards to pin" stats and the map in the lower left corner

There is, I did it in the size thread but didn't bother posting proof. There's a series of overhead shots where you can work out where the tennis court fits alongside the nearby roads. I get something close to the 'white lines' scale in your picture. The dotted grid squares on the blueprint were around 1400m.

I spent some time on the tennis court scale, and think I came up with a result that comfirms your scale. (although I have to admit I'm new to photoshop so it took me way longer than it should have).

when Franklin walks out of the shop, the camera zooms out. First it's just a couple of meter above his head (which I call level 0), then it goes to level 1, which shows the tennis courts clearly. It then goes to level 2, which shows more of the area, and vaguely shows the tennis courts. It switches one last time to level 3, but that level wasn't useful because it didn't show the tennis courts properly. My method was to measure the length in pixels of the tennis court in level 1 and compare it to reallife (also did the width and the area). I used this length per pixel to estimate a bigger distance on level 1, because this is easier to spot on the level 2 screen. By setting the same distance on level 2 and scaling the blueprint map to fit the level 2 screen, I made an estimate of a couple of distances on the blueprint map. The most important one is ofcourse the size of the dotted squares. The numbers and pictures are:

By using a (8:1) pixel:meter scale, the tennis court was approximately 23.78 m long. The width and area was also a match. I've used this value to calculate the blue line, which is approximately 130.5 meter.
Then I scaled level 2 to the blueprint map, as seen in the next picture. It doesn't fit perfectly, because it's not a 100% topdown view, but it's decent enough for an estimate. By using the estimate of 130.5 meter, I have a scale for the blueprint map. Using this scale, each dotted square is approximately 1350 x 1350 meter (0.839 x 0.839 mi), although I have noticed some deviation in the squares, as noted by other members. So yeah, again, by using a different object, the square size is about 1.35 x 1.35 km.

EDIT: nvm
EDIT2: This makes the golfcourse 0.108 km^2. That about 10 hectare (1 hectare = 100 x 100 m). Los Santos is about 9.4 km^2, which is about the size of 5 dotted squares on the blueprint map.
EDIT3: Fido's map of the entire island is about 69 km^2 (26.5 square mi)

Looks great, the ONLY critisism of mine would be that you need to move Bay City further west (left), in light of the find about the orientation of Mt Chiliad, the Alamo Sea and Bay City a few pages back.
