To check/verify if these calculations are close to "correct", there are at least 2 options: 1 being the tennis scene (if there is a way to messure the tennis field size correctly), 2 being the golf scene with the "168/169 yards to pin" stats and the map in the lower left corner

There is, I did it in the size thread but didn't bother posting proof. There's a series of overhead shots where you can work out where the tennis court fits alongside the nearby roads. I get something close to the 'white lines' scale in your picture. The dotted grid squares on the blueprint were around 1400m.

@Tankshell even though you may be right in that that is the same bridge, the lines you've drawn don't bear any resemblance to each other... it looks like you've just drawn them randomly  lol.gif

Are you joking? They match identically! Go and re-watch the trailer!

Agreed.
Well maybe not the furthest right bit of the blue line, that should be orange, but I'm really looking for flaws now.

From those pictures you've screenshot they don't. The orange line in the first picture is a steep mountain side, where as in the second one it's not that tall and quite flat.
I'm not rubbishing your work but I'm just making an observation from those images

That's just because Tankshell has just followed where that mountain goes, but you can only see a little part of it in the other pic.

Ok, that's just the perspective and angle difference between the 2 scenes. Also, the aggressive LOD system in the engine means the outlines are slightly different in the 2 shots.

Watch the Vid. Its a screenprint exactly at 1.48 when michael switch into franklins position and sniper down someone else in the building in front of this view.
when you use the HQ clip and vlc player you can slow down up to 0,03 and you will see every single picture of the clip. Of course so you need 1,5 hour to see the hole clip.
The only 2 things i made was an autocorret of brightness and an autocorret of contrast in Photoshop. And thats maby the thing there are cars on the right brigde because
this scene was a little bit longer shown as my screen.

Is this mountain or some sort of buildings? Could help to pinpoint this area of the map

Btw... that forest area looks like the kind of area where the hikers in Trailer 1 are standing.

Since the "los santos size" thread is spammed with offtopic nonsense, i'll post it here by quoting:

QUOTE
After using these things:

I came up with this scale (lower left of the picture/map, white lines = based on the Audi A4, red lines = based on the Audi A8 ):

user posted image
(map by gorgeprofondegta4)

Keep in mind, it's based on car size, low resolution, .. etc. .., so it's a very rough estimate of the scale. (ps.: all work/calculations done in 3d space)

A small update to my previous post:

The green lines show the scale with an Audi A6 used as basis for the calculations, instead of the smaller A4 or the larger A8.

user posted image

It shows, that the green line (1 mile in length) fits to the dotted grid (horizontal grid, vertical grid space is smaller) of the blueprint map. This makes sense since the U.S. doesn't use the metric system (generally spoken) and distances ingame (gameplay trailer) were shown in imperial units too.

user posted image

To check/verify if these calculations are close to "correct", there are at least 2 options: 1 being the tennis scene (if there is a way to messure the tennis field size correctly), 2 being the golf scene with the "168/169 yards to pin" stats and the map in the lower left corner

Any idea on the square mileage of what's on the blueprint?

Nice work. I compared the golf course to your calculations and they seem to be very close.

Hole 5 on the Golf course is 435 yards (which is about 398 meters or 0.25 miles).
user posted image

And from the gameplay trailer you can see the shape of hole 5 here
user posted image

So the golf course is almost exactly twice in length as hole 5, which leads to the conclusion that this stretch on the blueprint map is about 800 meters or 0.5 miles.

It's straight out of the trailer, so how can it be faked?
The ones on the left just didn't load because this is in the middle of character change. And those are not real cars anyway, just mini placements like IV had when riding in the helicopter or being anywhere high. Now let the mappers get back to serious work.

This is exactly how the map has to be... the Los Santos map has North pointing upwards, and the Bay City/Malibu town area up north is on the same odd angle like this.

And my post on the previous page confirms this orientation also, so I believe the top of the map looks more like this than the previous flat/horizontal left to right depictions.

The more I look back at other screens now, the more it makes sense too. This has 100% got to be the correct orientation of the Alamo Sea etc... the in-game GPS doesn't lie.

Does anyone have a general idea of where this shot is? There is a body of water by her knee, but I cant really picture where all these mountains are.

Edit: Its obviously pointing east or west. After looking at it besides the map posted above, perhaps she is on top of the Giant Mountain facing west to the sunset.

This is very interesting LotusRIP, great job. It looks like the countryside and with it the map as whole, will be bigger than estimated.
