I'm not best pleased about this! I don't want Rockstar to just recreate San Andreas! I want the distorted fictional city from the old game. This is looking a tad too much like the real place for my liking.

Your map looks brilliant. I'm wondering how many suburbs and locations of LA Rockstar will include. If they do it similar to Midnight Club: LA but with more suburbs that'd be great.

^^^ Thanks mate.
The map is a look in progress and evolves constantly with new info and findings.
Only the mountains, forests and beaches are suppositions, the rest is strictly based on the first trailer.

I'm wondering if I should keep this aesthetical stuff or go strictly with stuff shown in the trailer...

Wow, your map is really going well! colgate.gif I just hope they're gonna show more of East Los Santos next time
Edit : Where do you saw the 9777 Wilshire ???

Thanks Liberty King wink.gif

We saw it on this screenshot. koeklin found it if I recall correctly.

TreeFitty of igta5.com has found 9777 Wilshire.
The ROAR building is missing on the image above (behind the 9777 Wilshire ):

^^^ Agreed.
I didn't even know you had identified the ROAR Building (aka Pacific Wilshire Plaza).
To be honest, I think there is not enough building to be certain that it is in fact the ROAR Building.
The roof seems kinda like it but I'm skeptical about this one.
I added it in my map anyway because you've been right pretty much all the time about the other buildings so wink.gif

I also added the Beverly Hilton on the pic below :

I'm actually not sure whether you're serious. Los Santos looks much more better than it did in San Andreas by looking more like the real place.

Agreed. Los Santos wasn't up to par with LA in SA. Totally not what i expected. GTA V will get it right this time.

Thanks fido

In the port of Los Santos, we 've already two of the four main bridges of L.A.

1) The Vincent thomas bridge :

user posted image

2) And maybe the Commodore Schuyler F. Heim Bridge (back) or the Henry Ford Bridge (front) :

This is what I've found in the topic of GTA V Trailer Analysis today.

I hope Il0veGTAV is right, so it would be the Gerald Desmond bridge

Hmmm. This is interesting.
It could very well be the Gerald Desmond Bridge.
The layout of the harbor in the Speedophile shot could match (kinda) the layout of the real Los Angeles Harbor.

Now, I think it is a very long shot considering the tiny part of the supposed bridge that we can see in this screenshot.

I'll add it to my map tonight as I think Il0veGTAV may be right about this. I'll also add the two bridges that I haven't added yet wink.gif

Just when I thought there was nothing more to be found on this trailer...
Still, we really need some more footage to really get back to work wink.gif

Fido,

you should take a look at this, and implement it into your map. It's one of the things about V's map that made the most sense to me of everything I've read here. I have no idea how to cross-thread-quote, so I'm pasting it here. Observations made by Death_Blade @ http://www.gtaforums...ic=491352&st=80

Here's what Death_Blade posted:

Alright guys, here you go. From everything we've seen so far, this is my most reasonable estimate for what the map may possibly look like. Ive marked off the areas here on google maps to give you guys a good example, rather than post an image.

http://maps.google.c...0b9b41d4148a628

I believe this is probably going to be what the map looks like. I think its a bit far-fetched to believe San Diego is gonna be in the game. you have to realize the size and scope of LA as it is. San Diego is quite a large city in and of itself. Large enough for its own game even. As much as Id like to believe that could be part of the game, I highly doubt it. Not only due to its size, but also due to the fact that it would take quite a while to develop that city in addition to something as large as LA. If we do see San Diego in game by some odd chance, its going to be a very small representation im sure, so for the sake of the argument, im going to go ahead and leave it out.

From first glance, I know people are probably thinking the area I marked off is small. But in reality, thats really not the case. That area covers a lot more than you realize, and even still, at the end of the day, theres only so much they can fit in the game without making it take up 3 or 4 discs. That area covers country side, mountains, and desert. Everything we saw a little bit of in the trailer. At this point in time at least, its definitely our best guess. I also believe rockstars probably copied something similar to the real world landscape anyway, considering what they did with IV. To try and prove what im saying, look at this map someone else marked off of NYC (done by someone else, not me):

http://maps.google.c...97dc3d997&msa=0

That map is almost exactly spot on what we have in GTA IV. Id consider calling it a replica even. A condensed replica of course, but quite a good fake. I cant imagine rockstar doing anything different from this game as well, so im assuming they're going to try and stick as close as they can to the real-world landscape. Obviously the area I marked off is going to be greatly condensed, but Im pretty sure its going to cover each of the major areas there in some way or another. It may go a little further north than I predicted, but in all honestly, I cant see it going much further. Definitely not all the way up to San Fiero again. Maybe some small towns at best.

Palm springs is most likely where the other airport is coming in. I could definitely see them adding in a small city like this. Its reasonable to recreate with the time they've spent, and is far enough away to give reason to airplane travel. Its also past a mountain range, which would again, give more reason to air travel. It would be much quicker to fly over the mountain range than it would to try and drive through/around it. At the end of the day, thats ample room for freeroam, and that would definitely make a huge map to play around in.

I hear you mate. I know what you're saying.
But I don't really see how I could implement this theory on my map.
That would mean I'd have to redo it completely.
I don't feel like it at the moment. Although the day will come I'll probably have too.
But for now, I think I'll keep it as it is. Which mean like this :

Only problem is that GTA V will not be landlocked.
Otherwise a nice effort, but the mountains are not going to continue forever-and-ever.

There'll be mountainous region surrounding Los Santos, and then something behind the mountains.

Because, do you really think that R* would just generate infinite amount of generic, bland mountains and shoreline?
- No, we will be on an island(s) like in every other GTA game (and don't start with III) where we have had the option to fly..

Of course not.
Like I said many times before, the focus of my map isn't to guess the shape of the map and/or its geographic features.
My main goal is to try to create a map as close as possible as the real thing, based on what we saw on the trailer.
The mountains, sea, hills, beaches are here to make the map more friendly to look at.

I think I'll just keep only the roads and buildings from now on...

Yesterday, I masterbated to porn, does that mean I have nothing better to do with my life? No. Just because someone takes the time out of their day to do something doesn't mean that something is the focal point of their lives.
